    Excellent video! You show details like torque specs, and fluid type and volumes. For a drain/refill 3.7 quarts Vs a full overhaul 7.6 quarts indicates that a drain/refill is NOT a full change but only a partial change (about half remains in the transmission). So, do this regularly to refresh the fluid since it is not a full change. Good to know!

    Is it a good idea to change the fluid?
    And also is it true you must put some of the old fluid back into it? 🤔

    When do you check fluid level at check bolt? When trans is warm or cold? I changed fluid and filters recently and need to check level but not sure when to based on car temp?

  • @JasonB-rr4hf

    My Honda 2017 Accord Hybrid doesn't have the same check bolt location as yours. I have no idea where it is. Can I just measure the exact amount of transmission fluid taken out and putting back that same amount for the new fluid?

    Hey Jeff, quick question / note: I wanna say that the Honda service manual states to check the fill bolt before you run through each gear and to do it relatively quickly after it has been filled. Was there a different thought process in running through the gears first and checking the fill bolt? Also, great idea on slightly loosening the check bolt before lowering the car.

    I just did this with my 2013 Accord. I noticed after I was all finished and I was draining my drain pan, that I had more than 4 quarts drain out, but I only put 4 quarts in. I did the check bolt like mentioned in this video and some fluid cane out with the check bolt. So I am not sure how more than 4 quarts came out, I only put 4 quarts in, and leveled it off with the check bolt, but still have enough fluid? There was only .1 or .2 quarts extra it seemed like in the drain pain. Could it have been overfilled last time it was serviced? I just bought this car.

    Hey, great to see your videos again, or maybe I've just missed them? How do you like the Honda CVT transmission? I have to think that the bugs have been worked out by now?
    On my 2009 Fit Sport (normal automatic) I've tried to follow the practice of draining and refilling every 2-300 miles (since the trans still has some older fluid left in it) for about a cycle of four changes. Then about 25-30k before the next series of cycles begins. And of course ONLY Honda specific transmission fluid.
    Thanks again for your great videos and tutorials!

      We have a newer Honda Civic that also has a CVT transmission. The civic drives much smoother than this 2013 Accord. As long as all fluids are maintained and changed regularly, I don't think it will have issues down the road. For me personally, I prefer early preventative maintenance rather than trying to extend the mileage between services That is why I change my engine oil every 5K and cvt once a year.

    • @7CharlesV
      @7CharlesV Před 2 lety

      @@DIYCarModz Yeah, that works for me, too, regarding the oil changes. I take the "mileage minder" oil change recommendations with a grain of salt. Full synthetic every 5000 miles and a Mobil1 or Honda oil filter; so far so good.
      Thanks again!

  • @China-Wave

    Hey I've heard alot about the oil consumption on these accords. How is yours holding up?

    • @littlebr4d
      @littlebr4d Před rokem +1

      My 2013 has 171k on it and at around 135k I noticed it was using about 1qt after about 9000mi or so. I replaced the PCV at that point, and then I switched from changing it when the 'oil life' read 0% and switched to just doing it as soon as possible after the 15% indicator came on (about 8500mi). So now when I change it it's still in the 'safe' zone but on the lower end. If I'm unable to change it around the time the 15% indicator comes on I'll just toss a quart in there to hold me over.
      I also change my CVT fluid every 30k like he says in the video. Zero issues with the CVT.

    You had mentioned in the video you change the fluid every 30,000 miles but manual says 45 to 60,000. What do you recommend?

    • @DIYCarModz
      @DIYCarModz  Před 2 lety +2

      The reason why I change it early is due to it being a cvt transmission. The car stops and shifts like butter once the oil is changed. I used to change it every 50k but noticed that the car would stop and go abruptly. So now I change it yearly.
