- Hey Guys today turned out to be a very sad day. It started great with sunshine, good vibes and a new plane but quickly escalated into disaster.
Watch me maiden my Mustang P-51D by Eflite Horizon Hobby and feel my pain as I send her into the ground :/

@@VinceIrie I have just seen on FB that the front is clean break so you will fix it. Put some carbon bars in. And do check blades good so they dont explode on next flight if there is maybe some crack there.

Thanks for sharing. Now she's gonna be your daily flyer. I crashed 3 ,70mm F16s, back to back to back weekends. My first time flying. A year later, I have 2 warbirds, P51 daily, and a Zero. I am learning to fly slow, more control and then go back to EDFs.

that's a bummer... I have spitfire that I need to fly... I'm scared of doing the same thing. my issue is i can't find the right prop for it (it's an FMS 1800mm spit and had a 3 piece prop) it never came with a prop so i don't know what to put on it. I have a 10 inch prop on there right now but not sure if that will be enough
At the end of the day you just gotta send it bro! But do make sure the prop is enough though 😄👌🏽
You simply got it upside down, panicked, pulled up and dove it hard. You weren’t going too slow.
Nah, that was a wing drop stall, so he went too slow on turning. When you turn you need to increase the throttle. He didn't do it.
You have saved us all precious time and money thanks to this video. 🙂👌

I have broken off the nose section many times. An easy repair. I actually enjoy doing the repairs. I can't help but admire my own handy work that other pilots can't even tell it's been repaired and refinished.

Daaaaannnng, did the exact same thing with same plane today!!! Was super stoked to fly my p51, flew my extra 300 first to get the jitters out of my thumbs and tried flying the mustang like the 300...stal....blammo! You said way less cuss words than I did!

At 6:20, I was like: "oh he's gonna stall it in the next turn!"
The 1.5m P51 is on the heavier side compared to their 1.2m p51. So it needs some speed in turns. If this was the 1.2m version, u might've got away with that speed. Hope you get it patched up and back in the air soon!

When in doubt, throttle out!

To bad with that great looking warbird just going down. These turn stalls bites you sometimes and it hurts I know. I hope you get it repaired and up in the air soon. That's a nice location to fly at also.

I crashed my P 51 Mustang on maiden and flew into a fence going about 50 miles an hour, damage was very similar. I fixed her right up and I’ve probably got 200 awesome fights on it now. Although it does not look as pretty as when I bought her she’s a wonderful airplane. Get some glue and get back in the air and will look forward to your re-maidenin video

I'm sorry for your loss my friend😕 Good news is that all you'll need is a new fuselage and patience removing all the electronics and connectors from the old fuselage and transplanting them into the new one! 👍🏾

On another note, on Maiden flights, I like to fly my planes a bit higher, so I could have a chance of saving them should something go wrong!, but that's just me, everyone has their ways to do things!... 👍🏾

Cept for the that hosed prop and motor. Gonna be buzzy.
Foam Tac, foam filler and go to home depot and get them to match the paint. Glue it, fill it, sand it paint it and you'd be surprised how good it looks.

Several P-51's I have flown exhibit tip stall with large elevator inputs. Reduce the elevator throw to avoid the issue. Moving the CG forward should also reduce the severity of tip stall.
... and increase the stall speed.
Most warbird pilots I know do not understand CG range and use a CG that is too much forward, causing them to loose planes in very gentle stalls at medium speeds...

Yeah dude, all of your low altitude turns were perilously slow for a warbird! Looks like you got off easy with just a fuselage given your gear was tucked away and you came down in some tall grass. Cool video brother. Love your enthusiasm!!

@@VinceIrie hahaha, well, at least it wasn't a balsa model as you'd be building it anew from scratch, this is exactly why I stopped doing scale models, they either stay on the shelf and stay pretty, or you fly them and at some point there's a little accident and they're not as pretty as they used to be!
Yeah not going the balsa route just yet 😅 I also want them to stay pretty but I also want them to fly 🤣 Nice hobby though just need to get better at flying these birds and don’t do stupid stuff 💩
@@VinceIrie what I've learned, and what you found out the hard way, is that these have pretty high wing loading and you'd rather fly 'm too fast than too slow!

I think the sign was when you were about to step on the tail of plane, that was a sing of stop and rethink the flight plan,, but it happens to the best brother, been there done that!!! Great video though!!!

@@hoah Yea, when this happens I always repair the plane if I can in case I crash again BUT I almost always go ahead and order spares for whatever was damaged. I've got three of my planes that have a full fuselage and wing replacements ready to because I've crashed them before

I knew he was going to stall it when he kept going by lower and slower. Warbirds need speed to fly correctly.

Oh no sorry for that crash made me cringe. But did not look to bad little glue and it will be back up. It will still be a great flyer and still a great looking plane.

It happens to the best of us bro The good thing is it teaches ya to hopefully never do that again and the good thing about foam planes is you can actually fix it pretty easy If that was a balsa plane it would have literally exploded into a hundred pieces 😂 I love warbirds and this Mustang was flying great Hope to see it flying again soon I subbed 🔥👍✌️

It looked like most of the flight was to slow for a war bird. Fly it like you stole it.
Yep I was flying her way toooo slow the whole time 😅 I like it to go slow and sexy before I send it but man I should have kept the throttle om more 😓 Lessons learned...Next time Imma send it 👨🏽✈️🚀

I’m sort of the Jehovah’s Witness for Eflite planes and EDF’s starting with the Apprentice 6 years ago, every Timber they ever made and probably their “peach day resistance”, best thing they ever made, the 64mm a-10. What got me into the sport was wanting to get good enough to fly a P-51. The Eflite Blondie was perfect. But this P-51 looked like nothing but trouble. I watched Pilot Ryan’s maiden and knew this wasn’t the plane for me. Even the paint scheme is awful. Sorry for the crash. I’m going to hold off for an upgrade to the Blondie until Freewing, or maybe even Eflite comes out with a 1600mm. The 3 best flying, most enjoyable, most stress free are the Flightline 1600mm P-38, Corsair and the Spitfire. And of course the Eflite a-10.
