    I actually got into hammocking because of you but found out just how much of a stomach sleeper and tosser and turner I really was. I was bummed because I just couldn't sleep well in a hammock, then I found the Haven system. I've got a regular and an XL now and have never looked back. I've had them out in very bad storms with high winds and didn't get wet at all. It just does everything great and I sleep so well in it. Best sleep system out there In my opinion.
    PS you can also go to the ground with the Haven system if need be. I've used canoe paddles as up-rights and some cordage ( or two of the guy lines) going from the carebiners up around the top of the paddle with a lark's head knot then staked down to the ground. It only has to be taught enough to hold the tarp and bug net off you. Great system.

    Nice. I have a friend looking at one of these now and doing a bit of research when I saw you put up a video about it. Thanks, Pete! I hope you are all doing well down there and I hope P5 enjoys his new Haven! 😆

    Amazing hammock. I also love that if you do end up somewhere that doesn't allow hammocks, you just need a sturdy stick on either end and tie the lines to it, and it doubles as a tent. I went with the heavier newer Safari. Yes it is heavier, but it's much sturdier. I figured it would last longer over the long run. I camp on a motorcycle. Even with the Haven being slightly bigger and heavier, I still end up carrying less overall. My ground air mattress always deflates or is unlevel anyway.

    I'm with you , hammock camping is the way to go. I've been going that way since the late 60's. Here in Florida a tent is a sweat lodge and ground dwelling can get wet. When the ones came out you can sleep diagonally in I have been doing that since then. Been thinking of really flat sleeping but haven't pulled the plug. To many different ones out there called Bridge Hammocks. My biggest complaint is what appears to be the lack of visibility , I like to see whats around me. I also want all of the ventilation that's possible and then more. In this semi tropical heat and humidity ventilation is desired and the 360 degrees a hammock offers is nice.

    The electric pump looks like it aired the mattress up fast BUT can it deflate it all so ? If not how easy is it to deflate back to easy packing? Great video!

    • @Frozty
      @Frozty Před 2 lety +5

      I'm a side sleeper as well and have used my Haven tent about a dozen times. Side sleeping is absolutely an option in this thing, it works great. Your shoulder pushing down in the middle does tend to kinda fold it up a bit around you of course, but it's not excessive and still way comfortable enough.

    I could have used this a handful of times on my last 10 day camping trip. I was driving all over California riding mtn bikes at bike parks.
    A few of the spots we camped had absolutely no flat spots for my tent and my daughter's tent. The couple spots that had tons of flat space also had thousands of fire ants everywhere, literally hundreds of ant hills everywhere you looked. We had to shake the tents off real good before packing up in the morning.
    We have a lot of free dispersed camping here in California on BLM land and National Forest land so we don't ever stay at campgrounds with perfect campsites.
    I've wanted to try a hammock, but I'm a side sleeper. I'm not sure how well that would work out.

    • @Frozty
      @Frozty Před 2 lety +3

      Side sleeper here! I've slept in my Haven tent about a dozen times in the past year, it absolutely works for side sleeping.

    • @VegasMike1904
      @VegasMike1904 Před 2 lety

      @@Frozty yeah I'm sure it works about the same as a normal tent. They look pretty comfortable.
      I'm more curious about a hammock setup. I go lay in my hammock on my back amd take a nap for a couple hours, but I'm not sure how it would be to sleep a full night in one.
      Just like my car, I can take a nap in the driver seat, but anything longer than a few hours and it's not gonna work.

      He didn't talk about it which was surprising, BUT the Haven system can be pitched on the ground as a tent too! They have videos on it and I've done it in my regular Haven. Just need a couple sticks or hiking poles or paddles to use for support to hold the tarp and bug net off your head.
