      @benjaminaucuit3595 Před 2 lety +2

      ohh I'd be so interested to hear from you on the matter! I'm hesitating between the two! One of the things that I feared about the blueridge is that the archs seem pretty low. Are you comfortable sitting in it? How about the balance ? I've heard that some people flipped over during the night (probably because it was not set up properly but still, your experience would be appreciated). Also, what about tent mode ? Is it satisfying?
      thank you very much for your time if you ever see this, and to anyone that could help me with this tough choice.

      @@benjaminaucuit3595 I've been looking at the Blueridge too, before I discovered the Haven. The Blueridge is much wider inside, but one got more the 'banana shape' laying in it. which is no problem to many folks. I like more to sleep on the side, so I got the idea that the standard Haven at 26 inch wide will feel more comfy. I've not tested any of them, but seems like I'm going for the Haven for my part

  • @Brad-vs1lk
    @Brad-vs1lk Před 2 lety +4

    Great video! Thanks for the demonstration! Very well done! The hammock is a great system however the Amok Dramur XL 5.0 is a superior piece of kit in my opinion! It has way more storage and is far more adjustable with a chair mode and is much more adjustable with head or feet up or down! The Haven Hammock is probably less costly and is great that you can use it as a tent on the ground as well which makes it more versatile if you are not sure about using the trees! I like the idea of using it as a tent but where I live and camp trees are everywhere so I probably would never use it as a tent! If I thought that where I was going might not have any suitable trees then I would probably bring my tent instead! I absolutely am glad I purchased the Amok Dramur as opposed to the Haven! You should grab one and demonstrate it for us and compare the two to each other! I am sure there are many plus and minuses with each and your comparison would be very interesting to say the least however enjoy the Haven as it looks like a great item! I wonder how long each one will last without repair! Thanks for the video!!!

    So in the tent mode you'd still need to guy out the end walls with something. It would have been great if they had designed it to use trekking poles in the tent mode to hold the end walls up.

    Hi
    I'm going to spend the rest of the summer camping/fishing from the Oregon coast to the BC - Wyoming Rockies. My usual gear for this kind of mission is my single wall mountaineering tent and my 30 year old Kelty Wind River 3 season dome tent. I've been intrigued by the sleep qualities of a lay flat hammock but haven't seen the value in changing over.
    Next winter I'll be in Guatemala and Mexico. What would be necessary to make the Haven mattress usable in hot weather?

    Does the fly work well in driving rain from the side? I haven't decided on which tree tent will work best for me. Tentsile's fly looks the best for driving rain, Haven's fly also seem a little larger than the Amok. The Canadian Aerial A1 is intriguing, but the pricing of the Amok is up there when compared to the others. Would love to see a video of all four where you pick one over the others. Great video, really nailed all of the important points. One thing I'm curious about, because I really hate air pads (I've had enough slow leaks over the years to write them off entirely), have you tried laying in it without a pad? Would it work with a closed cell foam pad instead of the inflatable pad? I'm sure it sags a bit however it seems like it really depends on the spreader poles to stay flat. Hard to tell without trying it out lol.

    Does "water treated" mean DWR? DWR fails in short order. Have you ever tried the storm set-up after the tarp was wet with rain? It appears that water could run off and go down inside the tent body and pool-up (depending on what "water treated means". It would be neat of the spreader bars could be replaced with trekking poles. Does the inside walls of the hammock have any issues with condensate and do the walls ice-up in cold weather?

    Two drawbacks to the Haven tent- it only has a one way zipper which can be troublesome when trying to close it if you lay with your head at the wrong end.
    - putting the toggles through the grommets on the tarp is a real chore when laying inside the tent.
    I have one question, what do you recommend for adding some insulation for winter camping? I have the insulated mattress that has an R value of 4 but it's just not quite enough in the coldest Temps. I have added an additional pad of an R value that is 1.5 to 2 on top of the havens mat but was considering a mylar sheet under the mattress as well. What's your thoughts on this?

      I used a thermarest ZLite foam pad with the insulated pad when it was 10F and was good. Tested a foam car window shade that has reflective exterior and that works as well but a bit smaller. I side sleep so that worked for me.

    What if there are no trees for the ground mode to keep the roof up?

    Still looks like you had it tied to trees in tent mode?? Can you use it in an open field with nothing to tie the ends to?
