Since getting this tree tent this is something we really wanted to do. Set the tent up 20ft in the air. Believe it or not, we both had a great sleep up there with the squirrels!

In my 60 plus years of hammock camping it looks like a fun Hammock if you aren't scared of heights. lol I would have a lot of fun trying to pack it and the aluminum ladder in my Ultra Light Backpack.

LPT Put a towel or pool noodle cushion between straps and bark to protect the tree when hanging hammocks etc.
Dam those Sloppy Joe's look good. Now I am going make some. Bright side being that high. Pretty safe from Animals. Unless chipmunk eats your straps. LOL

Need a heavy quilt for bottom of the tent heaven. I would not trust that hatch lol to the cutie wondering if bears climb ladders they can and will but would have issues with this one 😅

If you're worried about bears then just hoist the ladder up when you're in the tent, but they will still climb the tree and hang on the straps I have seen them hang on clothes line before.

I was in the navy . We sometimes had to use rope ladders to climb on and off the ship . They thought us when using rope ladders to climb from the side . It makes it a lot easier .

Kind of a pain if you need to get up in the middle of the night for a bathroom break lol. Looked like fun. Bears begin hibernating in September or October so you were most likely safe from them :)
Why would it be a pain? Just lean over the hole and pee

Bathroom break during the night super easy for guys, pee down thru the open floor flap. Seriously doubt the tent was 20’ high, maybe 15’. If you’re afraid of bears, just pull up ladder and bungee cord it in a ball underneath the floor flap.

Actually the floor flap creates an indoor bathroom. Just watch your step when getting to the bottom of the ladder in the morning

You two are so fun to watch. I wouldn't put it past a black bear giving your rope ladder a try or even the tree you're tied off too. I've seen them do some very creative things to get to something they are interested in. But as far as them being a true threat to you up there, not at all. Besides I'm sure you would know if one was trying to climb up there. You could clobber them in the nose with your shoe or something LOL if one even got close. No worries. You two are awesome.

I've only seen a high tent like that one time and wondered what the advantages are. I dont think a bear would climb the ladder, but it might climb the trees that the tent is tied to. I'd never make it up and down the ladder, but it looks like fun.
bears are lazy...what for? climb the damn tree, for what?
@@marcoalessandro2034bears are not lazy. If they were to smell food odors coming from the tent they would make the effort to get the food. Watch enough bear videos and you'll see that I'm right.

I like to melt cheddar cheese on my Sloppy Joe's and hit them with a bit of mayo it really brings the flavor out!
Gosh, look at that Fall scenery...tent is an excellent idea, especially when in bear country...but that is a lot of trust in a tent! Lol (btw, Recast is also an excellent idea, and environmentally healthy)

If anything, I would be worried about the bear being interested in the ladder and maybe stepping down on one of the rungs. The weight of the bear would result in adding 350-1200 lbs to the weight already on the tent. You do not want to drop down onto a bear's head.
If you pull the ladder up, and bring it inside you should be good. If you don't want to do that, then maybe bring some Velcro. With the Velcro you can roll up the ladder and Velcro it so that it remains rolled up and on the underside of the tent away from the reach of a curious bear.
