The random function is worth it alone. For those ppl who don’t like the sounds - simply put it thru fx. It’s a surprisingly powerful drum machine

I am watching it for the second time, after these months, and there's still no tone control for the cowbell :((((
The cowbell is a joke. Good for maybe a short section in a song or 2, with plenty of effects on top of it to make it bearable. The rest is limited in tone for the parts, but it's pretty decent considering the price.

You could always add the cowbell on it's own MIDI channel & include it in your beats but mute it on the machine & have it trigger something useful like a clone 303 or a decent pad, arpeggio or sample.

Anyone have any cool songs to share that uses the DrumeBrute Impact heavily? I think it sounds great mixed with other drum machines (whether software or hardware), but it definitely is more for a "techno" and hard type of electronic music. The toms at 16:00 are amazing though! As I do more synthwave and early 2000s-style club and trance, it's cool to hear what others will do with this machine. I'm going to incorporate mine into some experimental/ambient stuff.
Check out this video I just found: czcams.com/video/4gwY1-WngLk/video.html - Like you I saw these videos of the DBI and thought it was fitting for a very specific gritty kind of music, but after watching that video I just linked it sounds like it does a good job as a more traditional 909-esque drum machine too. So the best of both worlds :)
My only real reservation is the "clap", it's a shame because the original Drumbrute has a really really nice clap that I like a lot, but lacks the FM drum, distortion, and IMO the Impact has a much nicer kick. Whereas this one has all of those but lacks the kind of clap I'm after. Still can't make my mind up on which of the two to buy as a result.

Can you use the the FM drum as a distorted bass?
Yes
Even with just a few parameters of control, the fm drum is very versatile and can put out some really dirty, thumpy bass.

@@rorz999 maybe, it just seems that this demo is more distorted than most. Unfortunately I don't live anywhere near driving distance to actually try one out.

I've got the tr8 and for me the impact is SOOO much more fun. Creatively I can get so much more happening. The FM drum is an awesome addition to the setup

So I’m guessing you’ve got the tr8 then? I’ve got both and for sound and playability the impact is brilliant. As well as when you factor in the price it’s an absolute bargain
