Arya Lhasa can you think logical that how a country can achieve so much if the human rights are not protected!as far as i know there are a lot terrorist attacks there before. There are
2 documentaries you could watch ,called “fighting terrorists in xingjiang, made by Chinese government, you could skip what they say, just see the terrorises killing innocent people in streets, which caught by cameras, those are real things!!!! I have been in xiangjiang and Tibet both, all i can say is Chinese use different way to solve terroism problem. Say us try to solve this problem as well in the Mideast, and accidentlly, they got thousands of normal people killed.....chinese way is , they found a lot of terroists become part of tourists group is because they did not go to school and poverty, but the irony is that chinese give them high degree of autonomy, and islamic tradition is the kids do not go to modern school instead of study quran in Islam temple ······· of course will be hard for them to merge into modern society...... so now chinese govn let kids go to school free and adult go to profession skills training school so they can find a job later......i think chinese govn do use some force to ask them to go to this training center, but there is no better way so far~~in the west valve,of course this is violate human rights~~~they could argue “ i have the right not to let my kids go to school~or i have the rights to remain poor~it is hard to say~a very important is that China has thousands of years civilization, they have their own life philosophy (Confucianism
,daoism so on)as you could see some from this ceremony, again, very different from west~so it is up to which perspective do you take to see this, from the west,it is no human rights, from their own way, they are help their own people to have a better life and share the dividends of modern china.....one more background, for example, Europe never a unity state, but most time China always a unity country since 221 bc.....and their gdp is the highest in the world until 1890(uk beat china up in 1840 for sell opium to chinese to make money).....my English is not very good but i hope I express well ....if people understand their culture philosophies, what they did will make so much sense ~~~

@Ham Sammich It's bad but it's actually not as bad as what it appears to be. The girl on the stage and the singing girl BOTH made it to the final round of selection. The director had to pick one between them, and he preferred the singing girl. But that girl lost a tooth when the olympic opening ceremony was approaching. So he came up with that idea. It's not like 'the director liked her voice, but she was too ugly to be on the stage so he found another girl'. It's more complicated than that.
