Two men put this song in our hearts..one man put it in our souls...
Like a fine wine, David's voice, and Disturbed's songwriting has matured into GREATNESS! I've loved this cover ever since it came out, and like Paul Simon said to them..."It's their song now"! This is the best cover of a song I've ever heard, and I'm not saying it because I'm a Disturbed fan. Evolution's their best album as of yet imo.
David makes you feel this song when he sings it. Gives me chills every single time. Simply beautifully done.
Watched this so many times, and it’s power has not diminished.. The original was also in the movie The Graduate, an excellent film, up there as one of my all time favourites

David Draiman... A powerful yet soulful voice that can go from warm baritone to angelic tenor, from clear as a crystal to rasp/distortion/vocal fry and back on a dime, which is incredibly difficult to do and he makes it look so damn easy! He has a timbre in his voice that I've never heard before........just hauntingly beautiful and pure tonal properties to it! What an awesome talent. Loved your reaction guys!!
David has the voice like an angel, and was trained since he was young, from what I heard, in the synagogue to be a cantor which requires to hold notes for a long time. He would be accepted by any opera or classical genre he has the best voice in all of modern metal
I always say the only metal singer better than David is Corey Taylor due to his incredible range. But I get where you're coming from.

I followed you because not only did you let the video play, which is extraordinary, the Gentleman who is reacting ( I apologize, I don't know your names) I watched the intensity of the song wash over you, I saw you get chill bumps, at the exact same time that I got chill bumps, and I have watched this video hundreds of times. Mad respect for your reactions. David Draiman is a classically trained vocalist. Paul Simon, who wrote the song and originally sang it with Art Garfunkel, said that this is how he wrote it, it was supposed to be done in the way that David Draiman did it. Paul Simon said that it is better than his original and the Disturbed cover is in his main playlist. Bravo to you both for your reactions.
There are 2 videos from Standing Rock when the Morton County Sheriff's Department used water cannons to freeze the water protectors and used " non-lethal weapon's" across a fence that was topped with razor wire. They were water protectors and posed no threat to anyone. The two videos are on CZcams under The Sound of Silence Disturbed Standing Rock. I have never seen anyone react to either one of those videos. You will be sobbing. Thanks again for reaction, in my opinion this is the absolute best. Thank you!!

The biggest irony of all of this is that YT is part of social media, which is exactly what the song is about "and the people bowed and prayed to the neon god they made".
In the original the "neon god" was tv, but we can all get the gist.
The original Simon And Garfunkel version was a warning about the way the world was heading. This is Disturbed saying “You were warned!”.
This rendition will become legendary also.

I think the meaning can be interpreted differently by each of us, but to me it's a warning about a lack of communications between people. We don't talk to each other anymore. We talk AT each other. Or our face is stuck in a tiny screen constantly. Although it was written long ago, it is relevant now, even more, in my opinion. Technology is the "Neon God"... We need to pay attention more. To each other, to ourselves. To live outside of the madness that technology has presented to us. I loved this so much! I reacted to it a few months ago for the first time and it SHOOK ME! I've heard the OG version a million times, but NEVER likes this! It made a huge impact on my channel too- almost 250k views since February. I can totally understand why too! Disturbed version of this song is as much of a masterpiece as the original. So said Paul Simon. Also this version is far superior to the one from the Conan show.
I don't know that I'd say it is far superior to the conan performance. I personally don't prefer one over the other. Both give me chills. Actually, the conan almost brought tears the first time hearing it.
Regardless, one of the most powerful songs.

This song is about man's disconnect with man. Very deep...
Led Zeppelin had a sound and style that I could never get in to. Then they released "Stairway To Heaven", and suddenly I was forced to admit that they actually had talent. The song was such a departure from their normal fare, it stood out, it is a favorite. I think Disturbed's rendition of "Sound Of Silence" will be a similar departure from the normal fare and a stand-out performance. It may be the song that they are remembered for, like "Stairway To Heaven" was for Led Zeppelin.

Hearing a couple songs on the radio is no way to judge a style. They had a couple albums that were entirely acoustic and many many tracks that were blues, funk, prog, and ballads, not just rock or what people
think was metal. Only Queen were remotely close in terms of orchestration and musical complexity, and no one touched them in terms of virtuosity in their respective interments ( including vocals).

First time I heard this was the same time I first heard Nightwish. Loved his take on this classic, but Disturbed was a step to far for me. But I am 74 and am not allowed in the mosh pit, so I stuck with NW. Still, this cover is Epic.

@@justdawnsoullessginger3536 I saw the live performance put through Vocal Pitch Moniter and the notes he sang were snapped to the nearest pitch. He was near but human not perfect in the studio recording.
I would equally follow this man out to battle and have his baby. Another reactor said this song was vocal porn.

OMG, the tissues I've 🤧 gone through since I discovered David Draiman and Disturbed performing their rendition of "The Sound of Silence" on April 29, 2024. That day I have to believe my spirit guides 🙏 (out of the blue) first led me to a cover video by Dan Vasc singing "Amazing Grace" which was phenomenal 👏 and then to the cover video of Disturbed and David Draiman singing this most POWERFUL, EMOTIONAL 😂rendition of Simon and Garfunkels "The Sound of Silence". NOTE: For those interested, here's some history on Paul Simon, who wrote the song in 1964. Watch their video from back then:

I'm 75 and was 15 when they released one of the most popular, iconic classical songs of our time during the 60's. It's amazing how relevant it is today. Actually, I feel it is even more relevant now more than ever, by how we're so attached to our electronics and don't actually share our thoughts and feelings with each other. Because of that, it actually becomes more difficult to do so. We are losing our ability to really be able to communicate with each other. No wonder we've become so divided. I've spent days listening and seeing the many Reactional channel hosts and each of your reactions and hearing all of your comments, which I have thoroughly enjoyed. I still 😢 almost every time I watch and listen to it. I've also noticed that more males have shown more emotion and gotten teary-eyed than the females, just an observation. Thanks, Diane
