In remembrance of Rosie of " Rosie and the Originals " who passed on 7weeks ago. This song from the half-Mexican Rosalie 'Rosie' Mendez Hamlin is considered the founding anthem of the low-riders of East Los Angeles. Isn't she beautiful?

If this song doesn't hit you where it counts you've got problems. The everlasting, classic American 50s sound topped with absolute angelic vocals. The innocence captured in her voice is like a time capsule that is opened every time the song is played. This song is one of the things that just makes life better.

The United States is a country but America its not a country America its a continent. The whole entire continent was already named America 269 years way before the United States of America became a nation or even existed. John covered this song on a 1974 album and mentioned Rosie in the intro. When I interviewed Rosie on the telephone for a newspaper story in 2006, we talked about that. It meant a lot to her not only that John covered the song, but that he mentioned her! She was very nice.

I am 79. I keep playing this song over and over. It is "hypnotic." While I was thinking of writing this, I played it 3 more times. Music is all about love and this song is about "pure love."
I'm nineteen, but find myself obsessed with this era of music. To all those commenting about when this song was popular I'd love to hear what life was like then. Things have really changed. I admire the purity of this time, when people still believed in love. The comments of people talking about slow dancing with their sweethearts melts my heart. Where is that spirit nowadays? Why are boys so crude and non-romantic now. I hope I get my slow dance someday.
Why are girls so masculin and non feminine these days??? Men have not changed its the women who have. Go watch Kevin samuels. You will get the answer to your question.
hi Destiny I am now 70 and the best time for music was the early 60s. Life was so simple and uncomplicated we went to dances and listened to great music. No drugs or phones people were friendly. and when we danced it was sometimes slow and close with your girl.. A way better time to grow up I hate whats happening with young people now. Sorry You had to be there to understand regards Bill
In the summer of 1968 I found myself so far from home sleeping in mud and wondering if I would be alive in the morning. Rosie, Elvis.Buddy, and all those others kept me from going insane, surviving the year and coming home. I wish I could shake their hands and thank them.
Thank you to all the overlooked heros who served. God bless you for your sacrifices. Many of us lost friends.... and lovers. But ours was THE BEST generation to be alive.

@@paulascott7670Paula, you deserved better. Sometimes I wonder, why do romantics never find each other? I’m a romantic guy in my mid-20s who’s never even had a girlfriend. I see people get in relationships like they’re nothing, I see people get discarded like yesterday’s news, and here I stand alone. Sometimes it seems like Fate is cruel, but all we can do is carry on and hope for the best. I hope you are doing well in life in spite of everything.
Thank you Rosie for your beautiful voice and memories, you will live on forever and thank you to my older sister Jessica who introduced her kid sis to such wonderful music like this. I miss you both… 😢
My mom and aunt were both pregnant in 1987. I was born in October; my cousin didn't survive. I remember when I was just a little guy, my aunt would hold me tight, rock me to sleep singing this song with tears in her eyes. My aunt had such a beautiful voice; this song hurts my heart when I hear it even 30 years later.
Tommy Dang Tommy! Who’s slicing them onions again?? 😢 Glad your aunt gave you an awesome gift by introducing you to this timeless classic 😊 if you have kids, please keep the tradition alive...
Hopefully your Aunt will be reunited with that cousin
The pain of loosing a child is something that can only be alleviated by that hope.
My beloved brother since deceased never recovered from losing his daughter at 32 years of age to cancer
My wishes are they were able to reunite.
Let the music soothe your soul brother.
It hurts because you got so much heart.
If it hurts so much that tells me that someone loved you so much and that is a treasure.
Damn got me tearing up over here
In remembrance of Rosie of " Rosie and the Originals " who passed on 7weeks ago. This song from the half-Mexican Rosalie 'Rosie' Mendez Hamlin is considered the founding anthem of the low-riders of East Los Angeles. Isn't she beautiful?
I had no idea she was gone, how sad.
What A Doll Baby !!!
As beautiful as her music. Thanks for posting.
Yes she is. Wasn't aware of her death until reading your comment . Thanks for informing us. Love the song.
A great Mexican American idol. She represented Brown pride in the highly racist era of the 50's and 60's. Angel baby should be the Chicano anthem.
Nothing like the music back in those days ! Just Great !
I love this song!❤ I’m 71 yrs young
I was a sophmore in high school when this song was released. It was always a favorite at the sock hop. I remember the girls would hold you tight when dancing to this song. The angelic girlish voice by Rosie was dreamy. popular, and memorable to this day. (Go Sunset bisons -Dallas, TX - class of '62)
I bought the 45 when I was 11yrs old! I'm now 60yrs old, beat cancer, stage 4 small cell 10 years ago, only 1% in the world beat it & make it this long! Now 6 months ago I was diagnosed with stage 3 non small cell, both in my right lung! I'm praying that I beat this one too! This song has been helping me get through them both! Sadly I lost my older brother, my best friend 2yrs ago to non-small cell, he fought for 13months! We both listened to Rosie's angelic, beautiful voice to help us through rough days! Her voice is so very soothing! She is one of the angels I will see in heaven, along with my brother! I loved this song when I was 11yrs old, when I bought the 45, & I'll will continue loving it untill my last breath!🌹❤️🧚🎶💫🌈💖🌟🌻💒🎵💎✳️❇️🥀

Dianne, you've proven you're one of God's greatest warriors. I'll pray for you
If this song doesn't hit you where it counts you've got problems. The everlasting, classic American 50s sound topped with absolute angelic vocals. The innocence captured in her voice is like a time capsule that is opened every time the song is played. This song is one of the things that just makes life better.
I am way, way north of 70 and agree with you 1000%!
That innocence died in Dallas, Texas , in the quagmires of Vietnam, and with the arrival of four lads from Liverpool.
The U.S government is actually using a name of a continent to its citizens and country. We are U.S. citizens. Citizens of the United States. The United States is a country but America its not a country America its a continent. The whole entire continent was already named America 269 years way before the United States of America became a nation or even existed. Everyone on the American continent is an American likewise Asia are Asians, Africa are Africans and Europe are Europeans.🤦
@@armandoruiz8758 Amazing how naive and ethnocentric US citizens are. Mind-boggling stupidity.
I remember Rosie & The Originals - Angel Baby I was 10 yars old at the time and now I'm 70 yars old and I'm delighted with this little brunette with a beautiful voice!
That's my dad on the keyboards!
Alice Loweecey that’s awesome! That’s my mom singing 😊❤️

RIP-Rosie- yes, you were that good
I love this song as I was around in the 1950s.
I remember it so well. One of my favorites. I was 17. (now 79).
Hi Diana💐💐
I was a freshman in High School in 1961 (now 74) when this song came out. REAL women back then. No multi colored hair, no tattoos, no metal trinkets (tackle box) through their nipples, nose lips, tongue etc. R.I.P. Sweet beautiful woman.
juan; i was a freshman in 1960 and wholeheartedly agree with your viewpoint!!
Who’s Listening in 2021 to the best slow dance 💃 song ever. Angel Baby!!!
Me, i've been listening to this song since Rosie was a teenager. It was love at first hear. A lot of people have covered this gem of a song but Rosie owns this song. that is why I am here almost every day. She made this song for her boyfriend in high school. every time I hear it seem like the first time. It never fails to take my breath away. Love you Rosie RIP..........................
Am always here , listening & appreciating . R.I.P. Rosie ( 2022 )
She was a doll. Beautiful voice and face like an angel
I was born in December of 1960 and the 50s and 60s music brings back so many memories of my mom and dad. I love these older songs and I miss my parents dearly. Thanks for bringing the memories back.
i was 16 years old when this divine classic came out xxx now im 74 years old ,,,,this darling girl still gives me goose lumps every time i hear her song xxx wonderful memories of many years gone by lol xx

Couldn’t have put it better. I am the same age of you and every time I listen to this song memories come flooding back . Happy and sad memories of loves and days long gone.
Tony Clarke it’s the innocence of that song that we long for. A time when Love was simple and pure. At least that’s how it felt back then.
One of John Lennon's all-time favourites - sleep tight, Rosie... ❤
John covered this song on a 1974 album and mentioned Rosie in the intro. When I interviewed Rosie on the telephone for a newspaper story in 2006, we talked about that. It meant a lot to her not only that John covered the song, but that he mentioned her! She was very nice.
@ksfhhnfan the Song is on the Gimme Some Truth Best Of CD Box
@@kelleydupuis1059 "Angel Baby" was not included on Lennon's 1975 album, "Rock 'n' Roll", a collection of 50s and 60s covers. It was included on the CD, "Menlove Ave", released in 1986. "Angel Baby" did appear on the CD reissue of "Rock 'n' Roll" in 2003.
❤️I wore my 45 out listening to this song. Love the moldy oldies. ❤️
In grade school through high school, there was a girl named Rose or to her friends, Rosie. Guess what? She became Angel Baby from that point onward. Hope she has had a happy life. The Good Ol' Days. You betcha~~~Rock On
I am 79. I keep playing this song over and over. It is "hypnotic." While I was thinking of writing this, I played it 3 more times. Music is all about love and this song is about "pure love."
had a wonderful boyfriend and who dedicated this song to me.
Iam 19 years old I love this song.
My hubby told me to " stop singing that song. People are gonna think you're crazy!"
I love the song and will not stop singing it!!!
I hope I get my slow dance someday.
destiny your day will come..the rite guy will come along if he hasn't yet he will.be patient..
No drugs or phones
people were friendly. and when we danced it was sometimes slow and close with your girl..
A way better time to grow up I hate whats happening with young people now.
Sorry You had to be there to understand regards Bill
Destiny, your slow dance will come, and it will be glorious.and it will break your heart, and it will make you happy. I'm sure of it.
@@ThePeaceableKingdom thank you dearly, I’m looking forward to that day.
I remember the first time hearing this song on the Dick Clark show 1963 wow seems like yesterday. R.I.P. you made your mark in the music world!
God I love this music. I'm 66 and I will always love it
In the summer of 1968 I found myself so far from home sleeping in mud and wondering if I would be alive in the morning.
Rosie, Elvis.Buddy, and all those others kept me from going insane, surviving the year and coming home. I wish I could shake
their hands and thank them.
I didn't think I would ever sleep between clean sheets again.
Joel, just possibly were you in country, Vietnam, is so Welcome Home.
Thank you sir.
Glad you made back from that Politicians Bull Shit War !! It killed My Best Friend at 28 yrs old and Less than two weeks in HELL called Nam 🖕💩👍
Thank you to all the overlooked heros who served.

So sorry to hear. My deepest condolences
I'm so deeply sorry for your loss! 😢🙏❤
Rosie Hamlin a beautiful girl and great song. I was 15 when this song came out in 1961 now I'm 76 but love the song as much now as I did then. Sadly, Rosie passed away on March 30th 2017 and will always be missed.

Energy never dies.
My Aunt Rosie was a believer in Jesus as our savior, ask Him into your heart let His holy spirit prove He is Real. The spiritual energy returns to the source (heaven) when the physical body in is gone. So yes Aunt Rosie is with Jesus!
It sucks knowing music will never be this good again.

At least we have this music. ;)

No one could love you
Like I do
Woo-oo-oo-oo, hoo-hoo

Beautiful, sweet music from a bygone era. Better music and a simpler and better era than what we have today.
Absolutely beautiful......those 4 simple chords that were the backbone of that 50s sound. Back then and still today...... timeless
I, too, have always loved the music of the 50's and 60's. I'm 84 next month and I remember the lyric about rock-n-roll will never die, it will always be that way! I've lived in the best of times - the rock-n-roll era. Why not!
Late 50s and the 60s, best time ever to be a teenager! Your only young for a short time and you had to be there to truly understand! What memories.
John Lennon's all-time favourite song.

Ji. Lonnie, I think she was from San Diego as am I and I seem to remember her singing in gigs in San Diego I think she went to high school there
67 and listened to this music that my older brothers listen in high school and I still listen to these oldies. There will never be an era like this.

77 and still remember Rosie and the Originals, her rendition of I'm so young is as good as it gets. Maybe someday the people that make music will realize that this type of music has no end -it can only come back stronger than 1955-forever.
What a sweet voice. Nothing better than old songs. The talent can't be matched.

I danced with my husband to this song at our wedding 25 years ago! I've loved this song from the first time I heard it! Rosie is beautiful! 💝
I miss the old dance halls. What a great way to spend an evening back then - slow dancing with and meeting kind and modest women. It was like heaven for a lonely sailor. Fond memories.
A couple of drinks and a slow dance ....worked for me...this song is powerful
Dancing to this song with my little grand daughter Zoe! Three years old and her favorite song with he Papa!
Oldies but goodies, never die ...they live forever.....love them
I think what "grabs" the listener is the gentleness, the tenderness of the performance. So many singers overly rely on power to impress the listener instead of bringing the heart of the song to life like this.
Beautiful woman and Beautiful song it will always be in my heart ♥
