I heard Sunny Days on 740 am Toronto and found Lighthouse was the group. Ahh, haven't heard them in a long time so, I went to You Tube and listened to One Fine Morning a few times. Funny seeing the 70's look with the long hair but loved those days. Then for the next half hour, listened to Vehicle, and all the other great songs. Thanks to my favorite radio station that plays the one song that sparks an interest into other songs. Toronto's 740 am. The dj's are nice to listen to too.
I play 'One Fine Morning' and 'Vehicle' in the band I'm in, but the tune I'd really love to play is 'Superman'. This clip is a reminder of an era when horns were on the rise in rock. I'm not sure who we thank for that. It had been happening for a while in the British jazz and blues scene, and the Beatles put them to good use on the likes of 'Got to Get You Into My Life', and John Mayall and Colosseum had them as well. But the real impact came with the likes of Blood Sweat & Tears, Chicago and Lighthouse, with the likes of Chase, Ides of March, Illusion, Rastus and the like filling out the field. The four tunes in this clip are great examples of how much they brought to the music.
Hey Wayne - just a friendly correction - "Got To Get You Into My Life" is by Earth, Wind, and Fire, not the Beatles. Unfortunately you left them off your list of bands with significant horn sections. Also, the only Beatles song I know of that has a significant horn part is "Penny Lane", featuring a piccolo trumpet.
@@petesprenne4125 Thank you, Pete, but now it's my turn to point out some corrections to you (LOL). I didn't include 'EW&F' in my list of horn bands simply because I say 'the real impact came with the likes of...', and EW&F were not part of that rush of late 60s bands; they came later. As for 'Got to Get You Into My Life', well, it was penned by Lennon & McCartney and appears on the Beatles' 1966 album 'Revolver', so I guess that makes it a Beatles tune. It sounds like you're younger than I am. (LOL) But thank you for the comments. It's nice to know someone is paying attention. And hey, you've just learned something. czcams.com/video/r95-7zfgtLw/video.html
Great fusion music. Another great fusion group was Dreams.
This demonstrates that you, sir, are a man of taste and distinction. I salute you.
Steve Prestegard and I gave your comment a thumbs UP:)

One Fine Morning - I’d totally forgotten about this one. Thanks for a great reminder. It was a classic and one of my favorite trumpet rock tunes!
I hear what you say!
