America had Chicago and Blood Sweat and Tears. Canada had Lighthouse. Those were the days, my friend I thought they'd never end.
We had part of BS&T don't forget!
@@nathalieconnor5803 Ah yes. David Clayton Thomas. As far as i know, he's still doing the clubs in Toronto and he is still in fine voice.
@@tomkat5626 All great bands. Lighthouse just IS Canada.
Lighthouse is one of my go to Canadian bands. Love the big sound of the horn section and impeccable harmonies!!🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
So true
I was a Lighthouse junkie, saw them every chance i had!
Got to love those HORNS!!!! Great song grossly underrated in the United States!
As a drummer skip prolop. Is the best I have ever heard I have this album love it so much
What a Beautiful Love Song Happy Memories for me 👍👍⚘❤👍
Can't hear this enough...oh how I want to go back to the 70s...and never fucking return here...
One of the best hits of the 1970's.
HEY! It's not an effing "hit". It's an anthem!
Loved that band - long forgotten by most. Especially with the presentation. Adds to the early 70s nostalgia. Great times!
Fantastic band.
Forgotten, only by those that don't listen.
As a drummer, I could play to this song all day!
As guy who loved Chicago, BSandT, Chase, this song is amazing too! Rich sound, great vocals! Rock On!
It actually hit high on the Canadian charts at #6
And well deserved. 😀
Not high enough.
It blew the chart apart!!!
#1 in Vancouver!
This song brings back so many great memories from my college days. Just turned 70 and it still gives me goosebumps!!
In Hawaii, this song was # 1 for approx 6 weeks!
I can see why--Great song, and a tremendous production in the studio!
Der Kiy, did you ever hear or remember the '72 Canadian song 'Sun Goes By' from Dr.Music (posted by: DarkSeven09)? Pretty good song!
Everytime I hear this without fail I get a huge smile on my face and I literally get goose bumps!!! And I promise you I'm a man thru and thru and not a Sissy La La Boy!!
This song brings back great memories. These guys have the fantastic sound that Chicago had in their instrumentals. But they do have their own style. Love this song. Love it~!
I heard this song when I was 12yr oid I was 6th grade and I love this song
I believe that at least 1,000 of those views are mine...and I'm working on the next thousand...how can one tire of these timeless trips down memory lane? It's all I have left that keeps me thinking young. Thanks Mike.
Beautiful song from 1973. The stereo version rocks.
Such a bad ass Jam, brings back so many memories of me and my buddies while serving in Uncle Sam's Marines.
Lighthouse- Canada's answer to 'Chicago'.
Canadian dynamite!!!
Blood, Sweat and Tears and Tower Of Power, great jazz/rock bands
This song makes me smile everytime I listen to it.
Great sound when there were actually bands that had multiple musicians, multiple instruments and not just two guitars and a drummer.
@@DMorgan72 this was the same time Chicago was doing the same with horns and strings. I really thought lighthouse would last like Chicago did with the big band sound.
THIS SONG IS A NUMBER 1 FOR ME FOREVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!
big band crooning,..whats not to like. A boy,..a horn section and a love gone wrong. Perfect!
Music Mike, another excellent selection, keep up the good work. CKLW played this song a lot.
For sure!
Listened to CKLW every day growing up in northeast ohio
I used to listen to CKLW everyday in Northwest Ohio.
Sounds great in stereo. Beautiful song from 1973.
Lots of airplay on WNMB North Myrtle Beach,SC thanks to Billy Smith R.I.P.
I remember hearing this tune on the Big 8 CKLW out of Detroit and Windsor Ont. I was in high school in Erie Pa. The Big 8 had a very strong signal that traveled all the way across Lake Erie. I miss those days. It would be so neat to have just one more day like those.
BIG 8 went forever!
I heard this song on that when I lived in Cleveland.
It came in to the suburbs of Boston at night, by which time the local AM rock station, 68-WRKO, with a similar "DC-Boss" format went into low power mode. It was almost like an alternate version of the same thing, but CKLW was somewhat brasher.
580 CKWW plays a lot of these songs but the signal (also from the Big 8 studio) is not as strong.
Just heard this song on Zoomer radio 740am here in Upstate NY, not bad!
This sounds better than a number 53 hit, well I like it and I liked it then as well
So True!! This is every bit of a number 1 !!!
It hit #8 here in Canada... their 2nd most popular hit!
My brother's band covered this and One Fine Morning back in the day. Club Spanky, Long Branch, NJ.
I guess 'Every day it gets harder...' is a nice Freudian slip. I love the song!
Used to play this coming out of the news at noon on WFUV in New York. Wonderful song and got everyone going for the start of the afternoon.
we need this sound again to help the world
I’m with You 100%
I love this group I have there albums back in the day 😊👍🎺🎷
@@IMissDaisy same here ...this is feel good music 😊
@@punisherseries1167 There's a lot of weak music, a lot of mediocre music, and there's always new, quality music. Keep listening and seeking out the good and the great! :)
Im from Canada, and these guys where popular here back in the 70s
Lighthouse was such an over looked band and I believe they deserve to be In the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, Love the band !
jason75 Skip Prokop lived down the street from me and went to the same high school even though he was several years older than me. They played at out school and loved their sound
i am from northern new york. i listen tp 96.3 big fm. love the station and the dj's. great station.
@@HamiltonRb Cool!
@@Top500songs Yes!
BEAUTIFUL!!! This is great music to listen to as you drive down a summer road in the evening with a fine misty rain falling
I lost all my CZcams lists when wifey screwed up the computer and hit refresh...wiping everything out. Can't find my password, but oh well, I get to come back here and listen to this outstanding tune a thousand more times.
+Mike Preston-Engel
the wife shouldn't touch anything, except...LOL.
In Canada it's NUMBER ONE!
It is one of my favourite songs. Lately their song Sweet Lullaby has been hoing through my mind. Although he was the lead singer in their early albums an RIP Bob McBride, you aren't forgotten.
I really like this song. Heard it on the radio in Canada... had to find it. Should have had WAY more attention.
It was a big hit in alabama
one of their BEST songs....such a good upbeat and wonderful words, Always leaves a smile on my face.
Good old song, Great sound. -No radio station I know of plays ANY music like this anymore. Classic rock's a crock!
+marmas58ink - You can hear this great song by Lighthouse and many more like it on my internet radio station KVKVI.COM "Flashback Favorites" 24-7 commercial free.
+marmas58ink I do. But then again I am a radio pirate and not empowered to anyone's (big media) playlist. I play music that most people would listen to if given the chance on regular radio, but we know that is not gonna happen. 88/KNML-FM, "The aNiMaL", Radio with Teeth, Huben, Missouri.
Another WNEW 102.7 turntable hit!
am 580 windsor detroit hear it a few times a week
You are so right about that many hidden classics that are not played
Gotta love that vinyl sound!
So I am a cave man from 1974 love the song it brings nice old memories and friends that I miss. greetings from Kuwait to Worcester Massachusetts.
CKLW 's constant airplay of this Lighthouse song helped made this song a hit in Detroit. By the time this song was released, former lead singer Bob McBride was no longer fronting the group, having been fired from the band for failing to show up for rehersals of this album and this song. The cause of the problem was heavy drug usage, and Bob was never really the same after his firing, having passed away by 1998. The band was never the same after this song, having never charted again on the US charts, even though they continued to have moderate success in Canada until 1977.
@BaritoneGrandma Thanks for pointing that out. I'm from Michigan, and Lighthouse was quite popular in Michigan from 1970-1974. I'll correct it in my above statement. It's nice to know that Bob McBride returned to the stage to perform after his struggle with drugs. May he rest in peace.
Grew up with CKLW! I remember this song!
Never heard this before! Good sound. Thanks❤🎸🎶🤩
Check out 'One Fine Morning', 'Sunny Days' and 'Hats off to the Stranger' by Lighthouse as well. Cheers. Apologies if you've heard them already.
You have so much to discover!
Yes Canadian and kicking ass lighthouse were fantastic RIP Skip Prokop and Bob Mc Bride
Wow 50 yrs ago I loved this song
Love this era...Great Tune and Stands the test of Time!
I just love this song, brings me unforgettable moments.
First time hearing this one. Loved how the vocals blended so well.
I remember having this song on one o those el-cheapo K-tel compilation albums. (Thirty Top Hits of $3.99, or some such thing.)
I have it on a CD version of K-Tel called Hits of the 70's. Love this song but then I'm Canadian.
I am Canadian, and was 15 years old when this hit the charts! Wow!
LOVE THIS SONG!
I love this song. One of my faves by Lighthouse.
Cute love ballad, but certainly has that early '70s atmosphere, however *_One Fine Morning_* has done a better job of standing the test of time. It's a '70s flavor alright but still packs a punch in present day that holds it's own to they who appreciate real musicianship, solid rhythm and raw energy.
I love this song! ❤️
Great vibe on this one!
LOVE THEIR MUSIC!!!!!!!
This one damn great band from Canada that never caught on here In the U.S. They probably got better recognition In Europe, Like the Bee Gees did after the Fever thing, Nobody would play their records In this country, But did great In Europe, after 79 !
What the hell makes you think they did better in Europe.
They weren't huge, but they did get some airplay in the USA. I grew up in a small town in the early 70's, and remember hearing them on the (AM) radio quite a bit. Sunny Day and One Fine Morning were played quite a bit.
I was 6th grade when this song came out I live Honolulu hawaii
They are great!! I grew up during this time.. chasing girls and drinking!
Don't remember hearing this in 1973. First heard this about five years ago while recovering from open-heart surgery. I still listen to this song often - reminds me when everything was on the line, and I made it.
Simply a fantastic pop song. Period. Have loved it for years!!
ANOTHER GREAT SONG FROM A SUPER GROUP.
Thanks for posting, MusicMike!!!!! Being in my early teens in the early '70's and living in Canada enabled me to enjoy great songs from 2 awesome Canadian "horn" bands such as Lighthouse and Blood, Sweat, and Tears. A similar band, Chicago, was also very much appreciated.
Went to a Blood Sweat and Tears concert in New Zealand about 1972. We were unaccustomed to having overseas bands play here back then and there were only 500 people present. It was awesome, sitting in front of them on the grass, having them all to ourselves
Love their style of music.
Great song, alk of Lighthouses music is so umakesr me feel like dancing😊
Finally, a version I can hear the piano clearly on! Solo at 3.31 has been an earworm since the day I first heard it! First concert I went to and at the National Arts Centre with fantastic acoustics!
Always loved that part too from when I was (oh gawd) 9!
Exactly. Note for note.
Mr Mike Thanks From Costa Rica. Great choice¡
A ducking Masterpiece!
excellent feel good music
i was 14 - yes i remember !
Thank you for this Music Mike, I have heard this on the Kingston radio over and over... and I just loved it. You are one of the only ones to have played it in a fashion that I could search up and play on demand. Much appreciated!
Mike just wonderful. Thanks love this song.
skip was a great drummer, singer/songwriter. So underrated.. R.I.P.
The great rock drummer Neil Peart said he was very highly influenced by Skip....just to let you know...
@@SSGTA440 doesn't surprise me one bit
Thanks Music Mike !! For this Canadian Classic
73 was great year for music, in HIgh School my best friend played trombone, so it was Lighthouse and Chicago all day everyday, we had everything Lighthouse had to offer!
One of my favorites we played on WDIF Music Mike!
WDIF....Great station !
Music Mike, you are AWESOME!!! ❤
Wow, thank you!
Thanks!! Heard this song playing tonight while driving in Toronto!! From Ft. Lauderdale, great song!!!!! THANKS!!!!!
I never get tired of this morsel of nostalgic perfection. It's from a genre and a musical era that might have sped up our youth a little too much, but I wouldn't change it for the world. I want to go back and lose myself in the tunes of those times...and I guarantee all of you that I'd fuckin' never come back again....
I was going to college in Columbus Ohio and WCOL played this. Heard it tonight on AM 770 Zoomer Radio's 70s at 7.
Love this song reminds me of my late wife Becky Etzwiler that died of cancer 4/6/of 2014 with I and my children surrounding her she is in HEAVEN ✝️✝️🙏🙏👩💖💖👍
Brings me back to the 70's in Toronto of course !!! Parkwoods Villiage Drive great times that could never be recreated !!!
Great presentation, Music Mike, enhancing the sound of a 'dynamite song and arrangement'. I have 'no doubt' if the sound here was marketed correctly back in the day, this song would have been a 'big time' hit in the US, easily in the 'top 10' and probably the' top 5.' Every one of the musicians were 'top notch' as well. Good job Skip, writing the song, and the sit in vocal.
Also like to add a 'Big Time' compliment to this songs producer, Jimmy Ienner
About a girl I sat next to in sophomore science class... that's the association it brings back, hearing it again.
Canada has some real wicked bands that only barely if ever made it across the border, if you're ever there it's worth listening to the Classic Rock/Classic Radio stations for some new exposure
great vibe....makes one feel like they're travelling through time to the era the music came out....well done
dont remember this being played on the radio but i played the heck out of it on a K tel album, good memories
I love your voice
Golden sunshine music...thanks for the posting!
Great tune! When I mentioned to one of my Canadian friends that these guys sounded a bit "Ides of March-esque", he informed me that The Ides were in fact, "Lighthouse-esque". Can-EH-dians, y'know right?
This song nothing but kick ass awesome never losses it's great sound this is when music was great those were the years Chicago *light house. Buckingham's *ides of march*sound now sucks! Rock on🇺🇸
This song only peaked @ # 53 in 1973. It should of hit the top 10. I like it better then one fine morning & sunny days.
I agree !! Very underrated song !!
+joed3433 I love this song.
Saw than play this song at the Beaverbrook rink in Fredericton NB around the summer of 1973 - great tune.
love this song RIP Skip Prokop
Love the piano on this version
Great song with great sound quality! Way underrated and rarely played on mainstream FM radio stations nowadays....
From Windsor next to Detroit. This song is etched in my mind from when i was a child and my mom listening to CKLW radio. Good memories!
I grew up in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada. I saw Lighthouse in 1973 at the Memorial Center in Red Deer. It was one of the best concerts.
