    Shout out to ‪@KBTime‬, he had made a video covering Turn On as well and that's where I managed to find that one Late night show clip.
    Thanks for watching!

    My favorite knowledge of Turn-On is how the character E. Eddie Edwards, created by Robert Staats, was the only character he ever played. Look at his (very small) filmography, he's always playing as E. Eddie or some varient. E Eddie even got to be the star of his own movie Comeback Trail which...well it's a movie and a struggle to watch.

    It was the weirdest show I've ever seen. The biggest problem with this show was that it was ahead of its time. George Schlatter didn't realize how screwed up it was.

    The next worse must have been You're In The Picture with Jackie Gleason. The second week aired with a full show of Gleason apologizing for the premiere show. So it lasted one week.

    • @witherblaze
      @witherblaze Před 9 měsíci

      Does the apology episode count? It was sitll titled "You're In the Picture"

    • @centexan
      @centexan Před 9 měsíci

      @@witherblaze I guess that might be an toss up question. I don't count the apology because it had no content that advanced the the original premise of the show. In fact, it totally destroyed and cancelled the premise of the show. It's as if Joanie came in in week 2 and said, Look, I never loved Chachi, neither of us can sing and the rock band we formed is just horrible. Here's a rerun of Happy Days I think you'll like.

    I wouldn't say the show was so bad it deserved to be immediately cancelled, but Laugh In was hard enough to watch for an hour each week. Any more than that and viewers got a headache and changed the channel.

      @@coolperson962 Looking back it also gives me an Million Dollar Extreme: World Peace vibe a lot. This whole show predicted so many Adult Swim shows, can't believe Adult Swim post-ironic humor could have existed so long ago. Closest thing to that I could think of from the '60s was Frank Zappa

    Never thought would ever get rereleased. Having seen it it is clear why it failed. Much is made of the style and fast cuts and weird computers having killed the show. And those I believe factor into its cancellation but the reality was it just wasn’t funny. I maybe cracked a smile a couple times between the two episodes. And being only twenty something minutes in length, both shows are a chore to get through and since so much (with so little) happens within that time frame, each episode feels twice as long. Interesting curiosity piece if nothing else

      Personally I even find Laugh-In not funny at all and that show was hugely popular. A lot of the jokes and gags may have been fresh and edgy at the time but they felt rather flat to my ears.

    You are incorrect. The game show "You're in the Picture" starring Jackie Gleason, aired for one episode on CBS in January, 1961 and was immediately cancelled. Gleason appeared in it's time slot the following week to apologize to audiences for how bad the show was.

      Like I stated in the video, Turn-On didn't officially get declared as cancelled directly, but due to it being taken off of the airways only halfway through it's runtime and then later declared as cancelled and never to re-air on TV it still holds the spot. While You're in the Picture apparently lasted a full episode.

    Bro I said this is something you would get from adult swim and than you mention that fact, I was in shock 😮. This resembles robot chicken with its clips. Shit gets weird on adult swim around 3-4am and Turn-On would’ve fit perfectly. I need it please 🙏🏾

    I enjoyed this video. At least two episodes were created. Then there was "Lookwell", a series written by Conan Obrien and Robert Smigel, and starring Adam West. Only one episode was created and aired. It had the makings of a "Police Squad" or "Sledgehammer" type meta comedy.
