I am thinking what kind of a fool I am! Being an Indian, never thought of exploring such divine music, yoga etc. Now at the age of 53, after having a mild heart attack I am looking at life and the bliss of being born in this great country called India. Namaste.
Same here

My newborn baby sleeps only after listening this... Thank you so much for this masterpiece ❤️
How lovely to hear that. Thank you for your sharing 🙂
I was totally disturbed with my social media and phone addiction problem.
I locked all my apps and just kept listening to this and few more Classical Music played on Veena.
Today is the 11th, I have used mobile only for important and urgent tasks.
I seriously have no words to describe the beauty and melody of this music and also not able to express the gratitude for practical help it did to me when I needed it the most.

May Bhagwan Krishna give good helath and oppulances to all such great artists.
Thank You Roopa Mataji.

What she played was raga Bhairavi. This is basically the ending or to say a vote of thanks raga. I love this one the most cause it's this raga with which we pray to god for bestowing us with the fruit for all our prayer. Similarly we have the bhoop rag which is the beginning of a prayer. Every raga has its own value in indian classical music. Her composition mesmerizing.

Yes Bhairavi is one of my most favorite Ragas. Most mehfils (music performances) end with Bhairavi. It evokes such longing to reach the divine. Just maintaines the lingering connection at the end till the beginning of the next mehfil. Very symbolic.

This is my lullaby for today. Just imagine why late George Harrison of Beatles surrendered to Pandit Ravi Shankar and wanted to learn Sitar. I am a guitarist and like all the jaaz, blues and rock music guitar players. I think sitar is played only by licks, riffs and speed only. The sound of the instrument is a pleasure to ears. My pranam to these players.
In this piece Ms. Panesar was fully absorbed in the serenity of Raga
Bhairabi, EXCELLENT.

If human is capable of magic, it would definitely take music to manifest it. What a magnificent performance.
Hail sanatan dharma! Another example of great music derived from the Saama Ved. I bow down to Goddess Saraswati for bestowing music, arts and science, a lot of people are playing your music today. Yoga, Ayurveda, reincarnation, vegetarianism, karma are some other concepts that are spreading through discovering this music. Humankind is discovering the need to adopt a plant based diet which the holy, glorious, infallible Vedas have always promoted. This shows the Vedas are perfect. Thank you for the upload. Blessings.
Amir Khusro invented Sitar. The great sufi.
@@shibashismukherjee4426 The addition of Tambur happened around Khusrow's period, the instrument itself had existed before that. Pundit Ravishankar also doesn't believe Amir Khusrow theory. Tambur related instruments were surely used by Khusrow, but there is no historical mention that indicates it was a Sitar.
Another case is the Tabla, many attribute it to Khusru (not same as Khusrow). However, temple carvings from 7th century and the Bhaja cave paintings show that the instrument already existed.
In any case, in my opinion both the Sitar and Tabla are fundamentally Indian instruments and the themes played are more Indic than Islamic.
@@shibashismukherjee4426 Fake history. Even if we assume its true, he invented by influence of sanatana dharma music practice, not by influence of his bacchi-chod mohd cult.

the art and beauty of raag and karnatic music is so deep and inspiring, as a shia Muslim from the sub-continent we incorporate a lot of gheet in our recitation of hymns, and the beautiful manner of modulating the melodies (i.e: shree, marwa, malkans, lalit, etc) brings about a sense of beauty in tragedy. the story of karbala is eternal in its essence of divinity, and coupling the narration of that story through the cartic means just brings it somewhat of a justice. i seek to delve into this world of karnatic art and expression.
Beautifully put. In my opinion you being a muslim won't change your culture. Indian subcon muslims have a unique culture which is a mix of many different culture but mainly vedic culture.
I am from Pakistan. I used to listen to music from all over the world but now I only listen to sitar because sitar takes me to a world where one is unconscious and becomes such a mesmerizing which is very difficult to describe in words.
We all have such beautiful cultural and spiritual gifts to share amongst Humanity. Here is one, a song with tones of awe, peace and love. Let’s hope we can survive by cultivating this beauty amongst Peoples and nations. We are running short on time....

It's weird because I've seen other Indian classical music videos where people criticize a players movements as being 'cocky' and taking away from the performance. Nothing could be further from the truth. I love seeing musicians that behave like the tabla player. It's so awesome seeing musicians get into their music. He looks like he is having a lot of fun, and it's honestly pretty contagious.
I honestly act kind of like the tabla player when I simply listen to this music, I can't imagine how I'd look if I were actually playing it.
Its because some (most) of the classical Indian music is dedicated towards God, so it may be considered as 'rude' when someone expresses themselves excessively. That being said, the line between 'cockiness' and devotion is very thin, you may observe some artists like Aruna Sairam, Kaushiki Chkraborty, Dr Jayanthi Kumaresh etc and feel the devotion sprinkling and connecting with the audience. Some artists like to keep in discipline of some sorts, if you may call it so, as devotion can be characterized by 'inertia' or 'gravitas' or 'strength' of emotion as per some cultural mythological beliefs in some schools of classical music. Tl;dr its a cultural thing more than having fun or not and overexpression is avoided.
@@kitsukeita Are they in a Temple? If not then relax. I want to see more of him and her together.
@@dons123111 Once they get absorbed into Music, God enters and the artist or the entire arena becomes a temple.. We need to meditate..some artists may dance like Shiva but many are meditative only..well explained by @keita Marislo thanks.. Generally percussionist are more expressive as they are catching up to flow of the main artiste !! They have a spiritual challenge on hand ..
It comes naturally to them. They're so one with their music and accompaniment that it becomes a part of their body. The movements and gestures are a product of that. You'll be weirded our if you see Bhimsen Joshi at his absolute best, that is if you're only seeing his gestures. The music will be absolutely mesmerizing.
It's the same in Western classical music. There are performers who move a lot and get really into it and there are performers who show almost no emotion while playing (Horowitz and Heifetz would be two famous examples). People often criticize the first type saying that they're making a show but in the end, the music is all that matters.
Sheer genius. Proud of the two artists. 🎉

We have such a rich heritage.only 10K people have watched this . This should be compulsory viewing in every Indian school. These two masters of the universe brought tears to my eyes. Beyond comparison.
Compulsory viewing is a restrictive idea, when all I heard in this music was liberation
Correct in every school Govt. Should atleast once a week 30 mintius class only for listening to student for their interest or liking rising and after 5 th class teaching them as per their liking or taking aptitude test and trained them in Indian classical vocal or instrumentle apart from professional education . surely this generation became healthy and mentally highly rich.
Both of you Roopaji & Dalbirji are incredible!!! It's just awesome!!! Thanks for the sharing of this musical piece of Raag Bhairavi...
Yes please
Listening this masterpiece again in 2021 after two years today i was again 😢 sad i need something to relax my mind
What can I even say about this performance. Roopaji, as usual, peace personified. Her slight smiling face, calm demeanour, slight swaying of shoulders as she is playing effectively gels with the rag she is playing and adds to the peace and tranquility of the music played. Dalbir Singhji is fantastic on the tabla. The silent communication between the two musicians catches the essence of their joy in playing harmoniously and sync. On the whole, it has stirred the soul and emotions of the listener which is the primary aim of Indian ragas. Absolute delight and heaven on earth. Thank you SouthasianartsUK for uploading this and sharing with us.
