First time I fell in love with Hindustani classical music was in 1981. And strangely enough this is the first time I heard raga Shahana being played. I'm rather old now but still in love with Hindustani classical music. Best wishes from the Netherlands.

The literally majestic Raag Shahana! crafted skillfully by Roopa Panesar, but the majesty would remain incomplete without the strong wrist of Shahbaz Hussain and his command over the Ba'yaN (the left drum). What a 'Samajh-daar' and graceful Tabla player. This is Sangat-Kaari in its best form.

I love when a big tanpura is filling the air around the soloist. Roopa Panesar is completely charming. In the raga universe there is great beauty to be found in fidelity to tradition. One does not have to be a 'great artist' to make beautiful raga music. The humility of Roopa Panesar will do.

@@narendermakhijani9512 I learned tabla for many years in Benaras gharana. Then I learned sitar from my grand uncle, a disciple of Dabir Khansahib. Alas, I did not keep it up. :)

Roopa, perhaps one of the best sitar players of the new generation, is just plain awesome. She makes the sitar sing in a manner that reminds me of Ustad Vilayat Khan, one of the true masters of the sitar.
Roopa's guru was heavily influenced by Ustad Vilayat Khan and her present guru Pt. Arvind Parikh, i think, learnt from Ustadji himself!
Yes, Pt. Arvind Parikh is the oldest living disciple of Ust. Vilayat Khan Sahib

A very soulful rendition of raga with brilliant use of both jhala and gamak which are hallmarks of Sitar. Tabla accompaniment is par excellence thus creating semblance of immersive confluence of two different streams elevating a listener to complete trans.
