Plus they edit the hell out of the videos you think he's going to show videos of himself screwing stuff up all the time? It's not his character. Also it's a stretch to say what he does is automotive engineering, all of the engineering is always done by others, he is a skilled wrench but he doesn't design or operate like an engineer, Mike definitely operates like an engineer.

Furthermore, helping people experience their first flight only ensures that the love for aviation and engineering will be passed on from generation to generation.

    • @prospectorsoils1240
      @prospectorsoils1240 Před 2 lety +3

      I'm just a shade tree engineer on some really expensive and dangerous equipment, however the best way to do a height adjustable floor in a pool is to use heavy gauge stainless mesh as the movable part. Gets reasonably simple if you use the right material. Good punch plate would work too. I think the mesh would be a lot gentler on the body though. Electric over hydraulic with an enclosed pulley system so you can set the cylinders outside of the water. You could even get really fancy and use just one cylinder with cable and pulley. That way you wouldn't have multiple cylinders that could get out of phase with each other. As my mind keeps working you could really go cheap and use a winch. I'm sure Mike will install a ratcheting safety mechanism so it won't turn into a giant dunk tank. OTH it would be cool to have the option to do just that. Time will tell how close I am but I'm going to bet I'm in the hunt for sure.

    • @av8bvma513
      @av8bvma513 Před 2 lety

      It's all just logic and mechanics. There is a way to have an ultra-reliable, non electric, non hydraulic safety/emergency floor mode that would elevate from the basement to the top in under 30 seconds.

    • @banaana1234
      @banaana1234 Před 2 lety +3

      My mind went to a pneumatic system with some sort of bladder - you'd still need some simple mechanic locks, but the actual movement could be done with no need to have any cylinders or complex mechanics in the water.
      I have no idea if any of this would be practical, just throwing it out there.

    In my automotive composite work, we made some fiberglass preforms via chopped strands on to screens in a water bath. There are several papers/ studies made on the dynamics of raising the screens to accumulate the fibers onto the screens. Some of the results were counterintuitive and the uniformity of vertical surfaces vs horizontal was surprisingly close.
    I assume the floor of your pool will be perforated and the water flow vs speed of the screen is quite complex. Raising a non-perforated bowel is a matter of displacement and overflow and having sufficient power to lift the weight.
    Your work with water system surely covers all of these considerations. Can’t wait to see what you end up with.

    I can’t believe how many of my favorite channels are beginning to collaborate and do things together! Great stuff guys and thank you for the content.
    Now you just need C.W. Lemoine and Trent Palmer
    And seriously?! No question on wanting to see the pool. I’d imagine you’d have to either have some sort of grated system (KISS), or pump system to transfer the water from above to below or an auxiliary tank for temporary holding…
    Are you thinking hydraulic, pneumatic, a mechanical or other type lifting and lowering system?

      I thought it was just me! All the channels I watch - Trucking, Aviation, Stadium Super Trucks etc. are all turning into one super-channel! Tim Gentry appeared on Garret's channel and now does most of his truck driving, then Mike came to the Freedom Factory. Trent used to be on Mikes channel quite often. Small world!

    CLEETER is also friends with another amazing guy who’s a massive CZcams star and my other other favorite channel Matt Chariker from Demolition Ranch, please please do a collaboration with him!! Mike patey, Demo ranch, cleetus mcfarland are my top 3 channels for sure! Dave sparks is close behind them along with whistlin diesel. I love that you guys are doing collaborations, it grows all channels and us weirdos that love all the content are just so happy with the final outcome!! Thanks for all that you do I really hope to get my pilots license one day. I love fixed wing but rotary gives me goosebumps of excitement even considering getting my license. Obviously the money is the setback but there’s still time I’m only 39.

    I just got my kids involved with the EAA Young Eagles program. They are 11 and 13 and just had their first flights last Saturday. My girl (13) was completely afraid to fly and no longer is, but it's not her favorite thing... Yet. My boy (11) is hooked. We signed him up for a week-long summer camp in June. He'll get to build an RC plane from scratch with the class, then fly it on the last day. He also wants to go back so he can go up again ASAP.

    @robertlaird6746 Před 2 lety

    Yes, please do a video on the house build! I'm a carpenter and would love to see that. It would be supper awesome if you could build your new house in the timber frame style with large diameter beams and an all wood open beam ceiling and then insulate it with SIP's on the walls as well as the roof. I would also use ICF for a raised foundation and have a 4' crawl space underneath the first level floor. That way it's more comfortable on your feet to walk on and much easier to access the plumbing and electrical on the install and maintenance if you ever do need to fix something. Having a raised foundation also comes with more benefits such as house temperature, moisture temperature, ease of construction, less expensive to construct and much easier to install wood flooring. The ICF and SIP material are both a polystyrene closed cell foam that is supper energy efficient and is the same material that they use in refrigerators, freezers, coffee cups and so much more. It doesn't burn and is rodent proof. You will have a completely sealed home that is energy efficient to the max.
