at the beginning you were using tsr epic?? turn that off or to low and it should perform alot better
the reason it lagged so much at the beginning is because TSR was at epic and TSR is really performance intense if it was on something like NVIDEA DLSS it would been much smoother

Steam deck can run medium and high settings at 60fps at the native 800p resolution. You have to run amd computer systems in DX12 as otherwise it will run horrible. After selecting your settings you also need to play around 5-6 games for DX12 to stabalize out. It will be rough the first few games, and then butter smooth after.

In tis video the settings on dx12 he was using tsr epic anti aliasing which has VERY poor performance. Bumping it down to TAA gives the same graphic fidelity with better fps
I have the ally but for some reason it struggles only with Fortnite even on recommended settings

iPad Pro used to be locked 120fps I remember them good old days.
Might be alot for 1 hour of gameplay,
But maybe compare it to the switch using 720p low setting a and 30fps..

on a side note, I find it quite weird it can barely get 50 at low, when it's already more powerful than the Steam Deck and PS4, and they both run the game at 60 FPS in medium, or maybe cause it was the first game, that's common knowledge that Fortnite on PC will ALWAYS run bad in the first match then run better, also the fact you were using TSR epic, when even PS5 and Xbox Series use TSR medium at 50% dynamic resolution
specially when other people have the game run at 120 with medium preset DX12

I've been looking something to play while im at work. I've owned a switch, and the caps on upload/download speeds are disgusting. I currently play on my phone, but the input delay and lack of consistent frames makes me want to throw my phone across the room. I think I might make the purchase.

you need to be near wifi when playing a game like fortnite on a handheld device anyway so, there's no need to take such a device very serious.

the rog ally honestly doesn't need 1080p to look good, it looks the same at 720p so try decreasing it to that

This is strange performance?? I have the onexplayer 2 and that runs Fortnite medium to high settings with shadows and epic textures Dx12 at 1200p and it's always 60fps no drops at all. It looks and plays way better than my ps4 infact. The Rog ally should be better! I can share my settings with you then you should at least get same performance as I do. You would think so anyway??

It runs terrible to this day for me it has a ton of frame drops. But in other games it is perfect I wish I knew how to fix it.

It can be played by Installing windows.
Steam OS can't play fortnite. You would have to boot windows on the deck to play it, but it can hit 60fps in fortnite np but the ally obviously has better performance in fortnite.

The whole point of a handheld is to not sit beside a power plug when your playing - so all tests done using true portable mode.
you were using direct 12. if you use performance mode, you could defianintly get 120 fps

@@Calslock both only can play 1 hours for AAA games but Ally used a more powerful profil. So I choose Ally over Deck
So if u really want 120 fps preformance mode is the way to go but i manage to get a wuite steady 80 fps if in in turbo mode 30 watt if i use direct x12 with everything low except textures high and epic viewing distance 80 frames is smooth and he images are still nice and also put it on 720p u will barely c difference on 720 p versus 1080

i3 is like a celeron so there is no way you can get good performance on that since it bottlenecks alot.
