Congrats on the great restorations. Grant spends hours restoring them to their original state for the love of it just like I do. It's hard to explain. It's sad to see them go to waste so it's people like us that save them.
My cousins, my brother, and I would play for endless summer hours with our Dinky and Corgi collections, indoors and out, girls and boys alike! We took pretty good care of them, although the factory paint adhesion of some didn't seem up to par. My brother and I lived with our grandparents at the time, and at home the collections went on two shelves of a deep built-in basement cupboard. We came home from school one day, opened the doors and found every single vehicle gone. Grandma had arbitrarily decided we didn't play with them anymore and given them all away. Years later, my collection alone could have paid for a year or two of university (it was a long time ago)!
I never had many Dinky Toys but some Corgi toys. I had a train set which I never got after leaving. Grandma was clearing house and thought nothing of it. I have seen people over here sell Dinky toys because of downsizing for next to nothing. So I'm making up for not having many toys even though my Dad could well afford it. Maybe that is why we collect now to make up for our loses.
To be honest I find myself quite torn between preserving a play worn patina and a well done restoration. Both have their pros and cons. Anything is only original once and took decades to get the patina whereas a mint looking one is just that, mint, but with all the personality removed. I resolved this by having at least two of everything! One worn, one mint. Everyone spends more time looking at and talking about the worn ones. Maybe they are more welcoming and achievable? Ok to touch without fear of doing damage? Me,I love them to bits!
Great to resurrect these amazing toys. It’s a shame they don’t make them any longer. I notice the colour of the restoration is sometimes completely different. Artistic freedom?
These are very nice! Job well done. Although most of these are customized, not restorations. Restorations are painted the original color with any original style decals (if applicable.)

excellent they look brand new. any tips on cleaning, painting, obtaining parts like wheels & axles and tyres + transfers.
Great restorations. Do you have a source for reproduction tires?
How do you get the writing/ text on the sides of the vehicles so clean and neat??
Nice work, where do you get the decals and tyres from, ? I've just been given a big box of dinky toys and I'd like to refurbe them.
Regards Shane
Why you change the colour ?

Do you remove the axles? If you do remove them, can you share your methods?
c'est vrai quels en ont bien besion après une vie de jeux !!! LOL
Mournful song is out of place. Needs something more upbeat to chime with the restoration theme.
Why the crappy music?
