As a girl dad who spent far too many hours in AG stores (plus the 2 hour train ride to NYC), the experience is pretty much one that I would describe as making me want to drink, if I did drink.
Bonus: we bought one of the WAY-overpriced AG dolls for $100.....and our daughter gave it away to a younger cousin who lives 5 hours away. I've come to learn it's now worth $550.

From what I understand, various groups go to the restaurant: kids' birthday parties, book clubs (since each doll has her own history and book), both adult and kids with adults go there. Each guest has to have a doll with them, either their own AG doll or one from their shelves like Conan got. It's mostly about the experience and bonding time, although I hear the food isn't bad.
Going to the restaurant without a kid would be a massive red flag for me lol
The whole idea seems creepy and insane. I think the kind of women that would go to this restaurant are the kind that refer to their pets as fur babies

As a fully grown adult woman who grew up on the American Girl books and dolls, I still love the store as an adult (even if it seems ridiculous) and I understand why Gaynor loves to go in when she's in New York!

I am a woman and I never liked dolls. I never knew what to do with them. My friend, also hates dolls, but her grandmother got her one every year, even though she did not like them.
My sister liked dolls and stuffed animals. It just was not my thing.
Just a tip for Gaynor on buying the dolls for your granddaughter. Don’t buy them new. They come up all the time for resell on EBay, Facebook Marketplace, etc. for way below the store price.

I wanted the Felicity Girl Doll and the books so bad, but we could never afford it, especially with two older sisters that wanted one too. Thankfully the library had the books, and we got the catalog every few months at the house to at least look at them.

Conan has probably spent thousands of dollars on his now grown daughter there. The American Girl Doll store is an all day experience with your daughters or granddaughters. I bet he spent thousands that day and donated to little girls for the holidays. These dogs are over $100. I've bought many. I didn't like dolls, but my daughter and grand daughters love them!

I think my 2 favorite Conan remotes are this one and his visit to Mexico while Trump was spouting all that double-talk about Mexicans while he was running for President. Conan extended an olive branch in his iconically funny way. Please do check out his Mexico remote as well. Thanks for sharing the laughs!
