Unfortunately Apple is not upgrading the SE in 2017. Hopefully in 2018 there would be a new one, this little thing is a beast. 10-15 second start time (dependent on how much stuff you store in the phone and settings), super quick, and the battery I find lasts me one and a half days on average before I need to recharge.

I came from iPhone 5 to the SE and the reason is exactly as you mentioned: The screen size. I don't want no big phone. I want something that fits into my jeans pocket together with wallet and headphones.

wtf? 4 inch screen was ideal for everything. STEVE JOBS did a lot of desgin and came to it that a 4 inch was the only screen size where you can use it with only one hand. c'mon who ever wanted a tablet phone.

Not at all. Maybe if you are charging while using it heavily you might find some heat going on, but nothing to worry about.

I swapped my iPhone 6 to get the SE.
I couldn't stand the slippery design. Plus I'm a one finger texter so the larger display didn't work for me. I could care less about the weaker front facing camera with the SE. I'm very happy with my decision to switch. Considering that the next iteration will still have the same design of the 6x models I will not be upgrading anytime soon. If the iPhone 7x keeps the rounded corner design I will probably switch to a Samsung Galaxy.

I know how you feel. And its good that you could trade in for the SE so easely. You made a good deal, with the SE you get the performance of the iPhone 6s, so you did benefit alot in performance, and also have the phone with the design you allways wanted.
About upgranding... i don't think you'll need another phone for at least 3-4 years. Apple phones tend to keep updating well and keep their performance top notch for a long time.
I have a iPhone 4 for 2 years now, and i have no regrets, this piece of history loads in 4 years but damm is this phone flawless. And yes, i am getting an SE.

Marcus Tan Unless you are a heavy fan of the iPhone 5 design and extremely appreciate the smaller phones, you should stick to iPhone 6.
CZcams and web browsing are completely possible on a SE But it will be more difficult than a bigger screen phone.

I lost my iphone 7 plus and had to stick to my old iphone 5s for a couple of weeks, which is same size as SE, and I actually enjoyed it. Great design, and it works pretty smooth. I didn't experienced any discomfort because of the screen size. Therefore I decided not to upgrade anymore each and every year running after all this new models..👽

The 5s is the first of the 64bit processors with Touch ID etc, so I'm led to believe the SE has 3 years of iOS updates before its cut loose 'also a 64 bit phone' so therefore you'd think the 5s is on the same timer, can anyone confirm this? I'm writing this on my 2yr old SE

I’m watching this on my IPhone SE, and I have to say it’s my favourite handheld/mobile device I’ve ever owned. I’d take my SE over an IPhone X or Samsung S9 any day. The size is perfect for my hands (and this is from someone with regularly average sized hands for a teen boy) and the screen is the perfect size for watching CZcams and using social media. The sound quality is super amazing, it loads fast, it’s very durable, and it can fit in my pocket perfectly. The only downside I see is that it will probably start to slow down soon because it’s an older iPhone model, and everyone knows Apple purposely slows down older models ;-;
You forgot a reason to buy the SE. My main reason is to get into ios and the SE is the cheapest way without sacrificing performance.

@1:00 I am one of those people, I do not like big phones. I have small hands, and if I can't comfortably navigate the screen with one hand, then it's a no-go. And the iPhone 5S is perhaps the perfect size for me, and i'm glad Apple has realized that people like me don't want big phones.
If the iPhone 8 has the same style as the SE, I would buy it. Gripping a modern iPhone is too damn slippery...

I am using Iphone 5 (16gb).. for 4 years up to date. I have dropped my phone countless times and my phone's edges has a lot of visible dents. I'm a heavy user , Point and shoot photos, movies, socials like FB, instagram, snapchats, gaming like Clash of clans and clash royale and i can proudly say Performance is still comparable like how i first use it on Day 1. This is what i like about apple. Quality speaks for itself. This is why i chose apple 4 years ago and still living in to that reason. (I really don't understand why apple users change their phones every year. lol )
But i guess 4 yrs is too long already and my ip5 needs a rest. See you soon SE. :)

In 2023, I’m still loving my SE 2016! I just replaced the battery 2 months ago. It just won’t update the iOS to 16.
I hope apple makes a 2024 SE, which is apparently in the works, and then I will upgrade.
I loved the SE. Only reason I got the 6s plus shortly after (5months) is because I drive a lot and needed bigger screen for gps. Otherwise it was awesome. Felt great in the hand, awesome photos, nice putting and taking out of pocket and actually great battery.
The pricing in India has been a major turn-off. We're getting the 16GB and 64Gb model for around $580 and $740 respectively.

I'm an old guy, 61, and have had an iPhone 6 for work for a couple of years. It replaced an earlier Samsung work phone. Early this year I bought an iPhone SE for personal use, only my second personal smart phone. I bought it on the basis of size. I'm still not sure if I like Android or Apple better, but I must say that the SE has got me, well, at least INTERESTED in today's technology. My wife got the newest Samsung phone a couple of weeks ago. As a business owner, she will make use of the many features and larger screen. I simply won't, and I am grateful that Apple made a product for us old geezers too. I've still got my old Mac Plus computer from 1989 buried DEEP in my closet with the external 20MB Seagate hard drive, and I get it out to play old games once every while. I wonder if I will be doing the same with my SE when I'm in my 80s!

This was a really good, informative video, Jonathan. Great work! I actually won this phone from Danny Winget @superscientific and it really is a great little powerhouse and battery life is fantastic. My regular phone is a Note 5 and it's actually refreshing to use a small phone for a change. It's been a while since I used an iPhone and I almost forgot how fluid they are and the unique features that they have like being able to quickly and simply send a voice message in the messaging app and also being able to swipe down from the top to allow Siri to narrate what is on the screen. I also like being able to ask Siri questions without even waking the phone. Lot's of cool little features that iPhones have that people don't normally talk about. Anyway, keep up the great work man!

My mom had a 5 for a long time, and only got rid of it this year when she dropped it in water. It still works but the SIM card slot broke. My mom is now a happy owner of an SE. I've had her broken 5 for a long time now, and we can both type speedy on them!

Bought it, love it....get the 64GB version. It's VERY quick, less pixels to drive makes it really snappy. The camera alone is outstanding. Already have an iPad Mini 2 and MacBook Pro, which may be why I don't care about having a larger phone. I'm so glad Apple made this available. I don't do Facetime and have never taken a selfie, so the low-res front-facing camera doesn't really matter. Also, the great 12MP camera on the back is flush with no protrusions, which was also a major factor in my decision. Fits neatly in my pocket, looks great - not for everyone, but great for iPad owners who just want a small and fast phone on the go. Thanks for the honest review; this phone gets a LOT of hate, but its proof that bigger is not always better, and there is a large market for small phones.

I’m watching this on my second iPhone SE. I used my first SE from 2016-2020 and I’m going to use this one til at least 2024. The only things that might pry this phone out of my hands are foldable smart phones. Those look cool and would still fit on my pocket.

I've had my iPhone SE for a few days now. I upgraded from the iPhone 5. I'm really not fussed with the screen size, since I've just moved up from 5.
But the new features/battery on this is great, makes using the phone simpler.
However there are subtle changes that have me frustrated, that would be the volume & silence button have moved from right to left, it's only me being pernickety but I'm a right handed guy and hold my phone in the right hand and having to fidget about to press them can be nerve racking.
I'm enjoying it so far and wouldn't mind having this phone for a couple of years until I plan to upgrade :)

I went from the 3.5 inch screen on my iPod 4 to the 4 inch screen on my iPod 5 and it wasn't a big difference so people going from a 4/4s to an iPhone SE shouldn't worry about that. Went I went from the iPod 5 to my iPhone 6, the difference was massive! The phone looked completely gigantic on day 1 and day 2. But on day 3, I really started to get used to my iPhone 6's size. What I'm trying to say is that the iPhone 6/6s might look big at first but the screen size is so much nicer that it's worth it and you'll get used to the size quickly. But if you don't want to risk not liking the phone you get, the SE is a great option.
I love it's size. If any new iPhone comes with notch or full screen in that size it will rock

Nice review, outlling the pros and cons. As a 5s user, with the phone's thicker chassis and non-rounded edges, I must say that the handling for taking photos is very good - as it would be with the SE.

Im thinking about buying a SE. my current phone is the Motorola Moto G from 2013. It has a 4,5 inch 720p screen. Do u think that the screen from the iPhone SE is better although the Moto G has a display with a higher resolution? I should be because of the price, huh?

Not sure why people like to record in 4k when most media is still in 1080p. The frames look really choppy but with 1080p 60fps it looks brilliant! I'm pretty sure Apple will make an iPhone 7 mini for people if the SE sells well.
Oooh I can only hope Apple will stick with making smaller iphones for ppl like me who love the smaller size. I don't get why ppl want a tablet sized cell phone. Even my iPad is a mini. Of course I buy the iPad mini 3 and now Apple has discontinued it and came out with the iPad mini 4. They said it was the same as the 3 with a few minor improvements. Yeah.....ok it still irks me. Now I don't have the latest iPad.
Elisabeth NOYB Well, companies will discontinue their older products so that people will buy their newer ones. Companies do this all the time. As for the larger phones, I went from an 4" screen to a 5" in 2013 with my android phones and at first I thought it was HUGE. Now, I think it is big but really great for videos, texting, etc. Basically, it's a preference. Many people love 4" phones. Lots of other people love 5.5" phones. Different people prefer different sized for media or for one-handed use. That's why I prefer my 5" phone.
+Mr Meh yes I agree the bigger screen is nicer for watching videos and when i was at T-Mobile I checked out the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge and was blown away at its beauty and clarity. Still I would never switch back to android. I always had problems with them breaking. And I always multi task and since I'm a girl with smaller hands and I'm always with my Rotti, I need a phone I can use with just one hand. When i had the Galaxy S5, I dropped it too much. Well, so far my eye sight is great so I don't mind the smaller screen while watching videos. Hubby is upgrading to the Galaxy S7 edge, can't wait to play with it while he's sleeping..lol
Elisabeth NOYB Maybe you have problems with dropping bigger phones in general. :P I can see where you're coming from, though, because I have small hands for a dude. Though, I guess I'm pretty careful with my things. I agree that android has issues, but the top-end androids, like the newer galaxies, have very small issues imo. I know iphones have some issues but everyone knows nothing is perfect. I've wanted an iphone before but when I used my parents' iphones it was actually harder for me to navigate through it sometimes. People say iphones are simpler but i think the opposite. Again, it's my opinion. They're similar anyways but it's just a preference. As for the S7 edge, sammy did a good job fitting a huge screen in such a small space! I wanted to get the s7 edge but it's just too big imo. I think my phone is a little big sometimes but usually it's just right.

I had my iPhone 5S for almost 3 yrs coz I refused to upgrade....til I saw the SE. And I was very happy with my 5S. I now keep it as my backup phone. I'm also very careful with my phones. I buy the best screen screen protectors and the best protective case. When I take everything off of my iPhone, it's in pristine condition, looks brand new. Right now I've got the Lunatik Taktik extreme case on and it's a bit bulky but it is a sexy and very protective case. I think someone made a video where they drove a car over it and the iPhone inside wasn't hurt at all. So yeah it's a great case. I'm not one of those girls with the useless furry animal looking cases on her phone....lol

I was just watching this, because I am getting this phone, and I got to the point where he was shooting the 4K of the guy on the phone, and the music that was in the background ended up being the same one as in the commercial I was watching, it blended in perfectly, so when I paused it, and looked away from the screen, I thought I hadn't paused it.
I went from a G flex to this and the screen size adjustment was absolutely fine. Autocorrect facilitates for the increase in typing errors. It's a reasonably priced top end phone which has a lot of the features of its IPhone peers.

Drop my s7 edge yesterday... Too many problems with it (2 note 7's then 2 galaxy s7 edges gets a bit too much) and the fact the size was too big and went from 5.5" phablet to 4.7" iPhone 7. Honestly feel a lot better and now more assured of less problems..
I really love the fact that i have to wait a little while before my iPhone unlocks... I can actually read notifications on it before i'm in the main menu. I really like my SE. Came from 4s so this is a whole new world for me :P

I switched to the 5 SE from an android and love it. I am a simple soul, I don't play phone games nor need any fancy customization features. I love the 5 SE due to; the high security, simple, fast, 32 GB which I love been stuck with 8 GB, good photos, awesome settings, business friendly and I love it.
I love the small screen size. It's so portable! Thats why I got the iPhone SE in the first place. Used to have HTC 626s and it was so huge I couldn't hold it in one hand, it was always drop... omg it was a nightmare lol.
