- What would happen if you used an iPhone 5 in 2023? 🤔📱
I took one into Disneyland for a day to find out and the results were quite surprising!
Day in the life with the iPhone 5: The battery life wasnt great and the cameras have aged a lot but the overal usage was surprisingly fun! I was even able to get a few apps to work that REALLY surprised me 👀

And because of them, now other companies have learned that if they become established, they don't have to try either and in fact, can take features away with no consequence. I mean, back in the day they managed to put a headphone jack in a little box slightly bigger than the side of a quarter and yet it was "too hard" to add it with the iPhone 7 because of the "innovation" of that year, a fake home button accompanying a giant motor to make that button feel real - And then several people break their screens pressing too hard and so they remove 3d touch for every phone while still using the motor. The flat edges were so much better than the rounded edges in my opinion. I’m glad they brought them back for the 12, 13, and 14. My iPhone 5 was amazing and really durable for an iPhone. Dropped it in a lake and fished it out after 30 minutes and surprisingly it worked!
I prefer rounded edges
The iPhone 15 is likely to have rounded edges. But not like the iphone 10 and 11. People complained that it hurt holding the phone so they’re probably gonna make the edges of the edges round instead of making the whole edge round. If that makes sense.
Nah I think rounded edges look more modern and elegant but I think boxy look has it's charm too especially on older iPhones. What I absolutely despite about newer models is the prominent camera island.
@@chucklenut7974 I agree with the camera island. Even with a case on it feels too predominate and unprotected. My 13 Pro had to have the Wide Angle Camera replaced after a small drop with a case on. Just completely stopped working. No visible damage either

Still the most beautiful iPhone that Apple has produced to date.
Agree I still want to use this phone but it’s so slow now and not supported
I don’t understand why people find it so aesthetically pleasing. It really doesn’t look all that different from any of the newer models, except for the fact that the screen isn’t as good looking as the newer models. My iPhone 14 Pro Max looks just as good. I do actually like smaller phones though. If there was a way to pack the performance of a Pro Max into a smaller model, that’s the one I’d purchase
Back when you could comfortably use phones without cases
I honestly wish Apple would make that a marketing point on a phone. Just go all out with designing it to be as durable as possible. Drop one out a window for a commercial or something.
Cuz they were durable?
It sucks that carriers can stop supporting older phones. There should be legislation ti stop that.
Do you think that computers from 20 years ago should still be able to operate on the newest software?
This is an issue of the tech advancing so quickly that supporting even a 10 year old phone would mean limiting the advancements taking place in current day. Phone tech evolved so much in the past 10 years that there’s a big gap
Most people don’t have issue with that
And this is why not everybody should hold a government position, kids!
Legislation to stop that? 😂 You want a dictator too. The tech advances way too quickly. It shouldn't be difficult to get a new phone every couple years
It's crazy that you all think because a device is old that it should not be able to support new technology! Tech companies have brainwashed the masses. Computer updates and software can be inserted digitally or by Wi-Fi in anything. They just don't want you to know that. Think about it, if they were able to update the software in phones and computers, how would tech companies make any money? You wouldn't buy any more devices! That is the only reason your old device doesn't work. Tech companies need you to continually purchase new computers and phones. But trust me, they could giving update for anything old to technically work well!
The iPhone 12 Mini was an underrated phone. I got it specifically because I loved the form factor of my old iPhone 5S. Small phones are way nicer in your pocket.

Fun fact: the phone is actually not slow.
It's just slow because it had to be upgraded to the latest os.
If you can somehow restore it to its original os, it'll be blazing fast.
EDIT:
Theory #1 suggested by a commenter here explains that newer OS & apps require more resources to run. That's why they're slow if updated.
Theory #2 suggested by another commenter explains that on older products, apple doesn't have the throttling yet. So when updated to newer OS with throttling function, they'll get slow. All new apple products are shipped with throttling feature, so they'll get slowed anyway -unless you opt out using the newly implemented option in the settings.
I'm not gonna argue why apple implements throttling. As i said, this is just a fun fact, based on my personal experiences, not some theories i heard on the internet. Peace.

@@Soultan_music Yes. That's why keeping it on old os and app versions won't slow it down.

this phone was a game changer back in the day, kids have no idea

It’s really not that bad. except it obviously doesn’t function like new, because by design, all phones force you to upgrade at some point

The only reason this phone is slow is because you installed the last available iOS for it. My original iPhone and iPhone 4S ran totally smoothly for years UNTIL I installed the very last major software update for each of them. Those made the phones a totally unusable and sluggish mess. And that’s how Apple’s planned obsolescence works. And they even use it as a marketing point: „hey we’re keeping your phone up to date for 5 years!“ yeah…but it runs like shit when you install the last update!
Jailbreak the phone and install iOS 9. it’ll run smooth like butter.

If Bigger battery capacity and app support are made available the I would definitely use my old iPhone 5s for sure. App compatibility is the big issue

The camera looks so good and raw I would love to use it to make a film
I luv this, I just upgraded from an 11 I had for 4 years and I plan and on keeping it for as long as I can. I feel like I had so many missed opportunities with holding on to old tech that is now too pricey to get. My first iPhone I just gave away it was the 3g and first android phone, even my altech flip phone. I love technology especially older stuff like walkmans
IPhone 4 and 5s was a classic
Steve Jobs never lived long enough to see this epic phone RIP :(
Im Still using 5s
@@azr481but you’re not steve jobs
@@ligmaballs100he did not say he was. 💀
I have the original flappy bird on my old Fitbit 😂 the nostalgia
Watching this on an iPhone 6😭
Still use my iphone 6s. Apart from the low battery, it works still fine.
Just replace the battery
Same i still use my iPhone 6 plus
I love the size. Wish they can bring it back with full display size and pro version labeled as iPhone pro mini.
Larger phones are so much better for watching videos, playing games, etc, everything
@@jackmemphis3203not hate but if that’s the point then might as well get an ipad right? I like the mini because it’s so small it’s portable lol
@@Minimalspec yeah I can see the preference when you put it that way. Phones and tablets used to be their own categories initially but with a larger phone its more of a phablet hybrid that fits both roles. I personally can fit a 6.7in phone in my pocket easily. Smaller phones definitely are better for one handed use
i suggest y'all to give a look at the iphone 13, it has the same edges as 5s, and it's pretty cute and small too (not as small as 5s, but still smaller than most average phones currently)
@@Minimalspec i don't think you can fit an ipad in your pocket...
Man… RIP to my old 5s lol what a time
I used a pink iPhone 5 till 2022. 😂 Still my favorite iPhone and still looks brand new cuz I’m ocd. Now I got a pink iPhone 15. The only thing that sucked was trying to get new phone cases.
