- I got my hands on the brand-new Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition and have been using it the last few days. The new features, like the bigger screen, wireless charging, adjustable color temperature, and auto-adjusting screen brightness are making for a solid upgrade, but is it for everybody?

At the 8:05 mark during the color temperature adjustment test, the Kindle does not auto revert back to a warm color. It was just the auto white-balance on my camera adjusting the image. Sorry for any confusion. The color temp does not auto adjust on the fly like the auto brightness.
That kind of defeats the purpose of auto brightness. I taught the warm colour would adjest together with the brightness.
Great review. Thanks for detailing the warm light feature & scheduling! Thanks
Great product. I am still rocking my 4GB Kindle Paperwhite from 2015. Love it still. Battery has come down to 4 weeks now, lol. I read around 1 hour everyday
I found an SE yesterday at the Amazon Bookstore at the mall I work at and got so excited because online it said it wouldnât get delivered until December 20th. I cancelled my online order and picked it up in store. This is my first ereader/kindle and I really really like it so far!
Awesome!
@@TellurdogIsayhi you can connect bluetooth headphones. it support bluetooth and wifi.
Great video. Very clear about the pros and cons or at least ânot must havesâ of the new Kindle PWs. I have subscribed!
Great review. Covers all the key points.
Thank you so much for this detailed review! I currently have the 2018 kindle paper white as well and I am currently thinking about upgrading. I love the size of the old kindle because it is so compact, especially since I tend to travel frequently.
I've just bought the Basic, White, no ads and no fingerprints, version as an "upgrade" from my Kindle 4th Gen, which lasted me 11 years and which I'm selling on as it's still in perfect nick.
TBH, I'm not that fussed about the in built light, which, I guess could come in handy when I have no exterior light source. I enjoy reading via my bedside lamp! đđ
Subscriber #501! Great job! Very nicely organized and thorough review!
Great review and comparison.
Iâve had mine for a couple weeks and I love it.
The ads makes a difference too. I want the book cover of what I'm reading on the screen when sleeping - not ads.
I love the video thanks for sharing iI can read the new kindle from this video
Got mine today. Must say that this is really snappy and does justice to the new kindle interface. đ
Excellent I use my older one for travel land my new one at home, thank you.
Solid video. I still have thethe 2018 paper whiie Thai bought late in 2019 and it is still doing a good job. I would upgrade if I had a any problems but as of now will save the money.

Thanks for the comparison review! I have the older Paperwhite but upgraded to the Kindle Oasis a few years ago because I like the feel of clicking the buttons on the side to go forward or back a page. That being said I like the bigger screen size on this new Paperwhite. Iâll have to check how that compares to the Oasis screen. đ
I have the older Oasis and a 1st edition paper white, Iâm still tempted by this, Iâd like warm light feature which my oasis doesnât have, plus the oasis never leaves the house, on holiday it is the old paper white
I have the kindle Oasis 2nd edition with cellular from 2017 and recentaly purchased the paperwhite special edition. Honeslty the screen on the Oasis is better but my oasis didnât doesnât have the warm light and Im hoping the battery life will be better.
@@graciejaime7035 same here, I bought the new paperwhite, I couldnât justify upgrading to new oasis. The battery life is a lot better
Excellent unboxing and product overview. Looks like I gotta buy a new Paperwhite. Hahaha
Is the text contrast better, darker and crisper on the new Paperwhite better than the text contrast on the Kindle Oasis 10th Gen?
Do you have a protection shield on your kindle? Do you think it's good to have one? And if yes, which one would you recommend? And glossy or matte?
can you test/confirm whether you can use USB-C headphones with the USB-C port to listen to audiobooks?
if i clean the screen and back with alcohol would that damage it or make the back chip?
I have poor vision. This new Signature edition sounds good to me, thanks for the review
Nice review, thanks! Good idea showing live test of the Auto Brightness feature. I understand its function to lower the brightness for example when you turn off the lights in the room but increasing backlight when going outside is for e-ink a bit illogical as it performs best in the bright light without backlight and it would have influence on the battery life. Or I had it wrong? Anyway I ordered Regular Paperwhite 2021 here on Amazon Sweden as the Signature is not available now and I do not listen to audiobooks to need 32 GB, I do not wireless charge and would not use the Auto Brightness feature. I am upgrading from 2014 Paperwhite, so for me the Night Mode with reverted text would be a new thing. Oasis was never available in Sweden. Also USB-C is a great thing. I prefer reading on the Kindle as it shows text nicer, does not have distractions like my iPhone XS Max and my family seems to be more âhappyâ when they see me reading a book than âlooking at the iPhoneâ - that still might be reading a book butâŠ. :)
Spot on. Eink displays should be claerly readable with no backlight in a bright environment
I agree to a point. Even if youâre in a bright room it doesnât mean that the light is necessarily good where you are. The light may not be shining on device. But outside in direct light the front lights shouldnât be on at all.
Thank you so much for the review. I donât own a kindle yet and I was wondering what you meant when you mentioned the device is STILL not quite like a book. It looks like deviceâs display is very very similar to a regular page of a book. I am currently using my iPad along regular books and the iPadâs display is quite unpleasant for the eyes after long time of reading which is why I consider getting a Kindle instead. Thank you :)
Just purchased this, really disappointed that here in Australia we donât have the audio function on this devise
Very good review, exactly the things that you need to know to spend $50 more or not
Wife got one for birthday present. Not happy. Spent several hours with tech svcs and only got it to do web connect. Unable to download, set up overdrive/ Libby in order to borrow ereads from local library. Still get Invalid Certificate message. It is registered with Amazon and all other setups done. Also program upgrade in settings is greyed out and inactive. Beginning to be NOT worth the trouble.
i waiting amazon to came out lighter kindle (below 100 gram) . but what i see getting heavier
What happened to the Word Runner! It is missing.
Thank you. Ordered today my Kindle. You have beautiful eyes.
Iâve just purchased this, really disappointed in Australia Audio is not available.
I need a new Kindle. I'm torn between this and holding out for the new rumoured Oasis?
What about the page turn improvements? Does it feel worth it?
The whole device feels snappier than my 2018 Paperwhite. Especially navigating the menus.
You can actually see the screen go warmer after adjusting the warmth all the way down - seems intentional or not? Can clearly see it turn from the white blue to a faint warmth
It doesnât in reality. That was just the auto white balance on the camera adjusting the image.
@@mrobertsonjrbooks Ok I see - amazing how things can be so different from reality - it really looked like it was the Kindle. Makes you wonder about what one really sees.
You also get âno adsâ with the signature edition
I so much miss the 'GO TO' option while reading a book which can be used to navigate to a particular location or page. Is there any way I can get it back?
I use Kindle Paperwhite 3(7th gen)
hey, yes that is there. you tap on the top portion of the screen and there is a list of all chapters you can navigate to
I picked up the Signature on sale for $10 less than Regular Paperwhite.
If you could pick up an oasis for the same price as the new paper white, which would you choose? I have the opportunity to pick up an oasis for the same price as the new paper white but I cant decide lol
I've never really liked the more squared form factor of the Oasis, so I'd probably go with the new Paperwhite, personally.
Is it possible to make verbal notes, i.e. can I record my voice as I am reading pages.
It doesn't. Any so far
In a well lit room or outdoors shouldnât you be able to read this without the front light?
You can, absolutely. Same as previous paperwhites. You can turn off the auto-brightness and turn the backlight all the way down if you'd like.
Ordering a paperwhite to upgrade from my old Kindle Fire. Chose to go with the signature and get the wireless charger.
Nice choice!
Is it possible to connect a keyboard to this? Either wired or via Bluetooth?
Would make for a great, distraction free environment to write on.
It has bluetooth for sure (for headphones), but if you were to connect a keyboard and it worked, I'm not sure what you would write in. There's no app store like there is on the Kindle Fires. I'm not even sure you can write notes outside of individual books, but I've never really looked into it.
You could make a simple epub ebook with titles or numbers for placeholders, then add comments to that title. Really round about for something this basic, just disconnect your laptop and use notepad/textedit. Some other readers might be better suited for this task if you are hell-bent on e-ink technology
Thrilled weâre still saying form factor instead of shape
Which one do you guys prefer?Kindle or Kobo?
Kobo Ofc, the warm light isn't new for Kobo :))
wierd how this kindle is already dirty on the back side, did someone use it already?
Another reviewer said it easily gets dirty
I have the oasis and I canât say that itâs better than my paperwhite. The handle is also not that helpful in my opinion. Especially if you have a case on because when you fold the cover back you wonât have access to the handle anyways.
brand new and already bricked with battery icon after two hours of use
Comparison with the previous gen would be helpful. Not sure how the larger footprint will contribute to better reading experience. The new device seems more cumbersome and also heavier. Donât really see the need to see 3 extra lines of text on the screen. Iâll get to them on the next page lol
The 2018 is the most recent previous Paperwhite (which is what I'm using for comparison). They released a regular non-Paperwhite Kindle and Kindle Oasis in 2019. www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=GK33S847NN4V6Y83
Itâs a question of personal preference I guess. And where the sweet spot is for reading. Most of us would think a 6â book is a little small for comfortable reading but put up with it on non-Oasis Kindles because we can compensate for that with font enlargement. However, some of us do prefer to see more text on a page, perhaps subconsciously because that gets you closer to the physical book reading experience. I certainly prefer the 7.8â screen for reading via the Kindle app on my Onyx Boox Nova 3, for example.
Im agree with u. This new Kindle have a big big issue : it's too large and too heavy. Inpossible to hold with one hand. Oasis is tought to be very easy and nice to handle and hold. That's why I returne le new PW to Amazon. The PW4 is better to hold
Hopefully you can reply
I'm gonna purchase the kindle 10th gen kids edition and can I add free 1 year kids unlimited to another profile
Not into my amazon purchasing Account
Please reply
Compared to Kobo?
What ruins it for me is the power button on the bottom. When reading in bed I tend to let the device rest on my chest while I read. Even lounging in my recliner. Easily made this device completely unusable.
I agree with you on how frustrating it is to not be able to prop the Kindle up on something. I try it from time to time and am always reminded about how the power button the bottom prohibits this.
@@mrobertsonjrbooks yeah sticking with the Oasis still. Iâd like to move to this for a bigger battery and a new battery at that. I was shocked to learn my wifeâs Paperwhite has the power button on the bottom too. I guess Iâve just been spoiled by the Oasis for so long I never knew this was an issue.
Okay, fast question, I want short answer (I don't care about WiFi):
- Will I be able to upload books with CALIBRE???
(Y/N)
Yes, itâs still a Kindle. Of course you can sideload.
Kindle Voyage is still better. STILL.
You have really good looking nails
looks like it gets real dirty real fast
