I really want to try Oathmark by Joseph McCullough. It is a Rank N Flank but you can set your army up in a way to have goblin wolf riders, elven archers and human soldiers.

@@Wargamerofalltrades I've been looking at Oathmark too. I like the models, and the whole 'first invent your kingdom' take on worldbuilding looks really neat.

This is some really good stuff!
There are SO many games out there that fly under my radar, you'll probably never run out of content just highlighting them.

Yeah, I only knew about half of these existed before making the first video, and I will be trying many of them soon thanks to Tabletop Simulator

Nice video. Should mention Battletech. Low figure count, great starter sets and the Alpha Strike alternative rules.

I like that they are branching off from just being a Warhammer clone. They’ve introduced two non-Warhammer inspired factions (Eternal Dynasty and Jackals). I also believe they have published a world/lore book.

Dropfleet is a great game. Fast play and fun. the drop capability is essential! Dropzone is a great game as well. Neat rule for everything needs a vehicle to bring it in a tank. The cardboard buildings are great and the table looks great.

@@Wargamerofalltrades Remember they are cardboard and will slide, we glued them and 3d printed bases for them. but for the cost, the paper mats are on the cheap gaming and look good.

I haven't played dropzone commander since it got bought out by TT combat but the first edition from hawk wargames was really good fun i really need to get it back to the table with the new rules to see how it plays now

Just wanted to note that MESBG kinda straddles the line between a "big" wargame and a skirmish game. The issue here is that MESBG, compared to GW's main "big" games, is NOT friendly towards resolving lots of attacks at once - that is, each attack is always directed from a specified figure against a specified figure, as the game doesn't have "units" (the "warbands" are used only for making the list and deployment, after that they don't matter, aside from a few special rules maybe). And melee combat... is exclusively on figure-by-figure basis. If you and your opponent have 20 figures each in melee, paired up, then you are seeing 20 opposed rolls this round.

    • @Wargamerofalltrades
      @Wargamerofalltrades  Před měsícem

I agree, but I personally think it tips more towards the "big" wargame at it's normal values

  • @maxxon99

You need waayyyy more models than the starter box to really play Hail Caesar.
Normal armies consist of minimum three divisions, which have a minimum of four battleline units each, consisting of roughly 20-40 models.
So an average of 12 times 30 equals 360 line troopers, plus skrmishers, command etc. so call it about 400 models per army.
Still wonder why they launched the epic version? It’s the exact same game, just smaller models.
And before you ask, no, the game doesn’t really work with smaller forces just like you can’t really play 40k with one unit per side.

For ASOIAF the split table wargame and political phase is great. The miniatures look quite good, and are completely built so getting them on the table is super easy. Plus the game is just fun. I really recommend you take a look at it, and the lore or story honestly just doesn't matter. Ya you might get why some political character or leader is stated a certain way, but otherwise you'll enjoy it all the same!

I was in a weird spot with it as I have somehow avoided the show completely while it was out, I'm sure I'll get around to it eventually.
I actually like random charges in very specific circumstances, but I agree in 99% of cases they shouldn't exist
