Star Wars Legion: Ministravaganza Reveals and Roadmap!
For the Rebels core unit they said that there would be lots of head options, and the heads were all interchangeable. I think they said there would be at least 4 heads for each species
That's good!
Ive been told that shadow collective was something FFG created and that a lot of the AMG people arent a fan of it.
That wouldn't surprise me
I think they said the Rebels have head options so you can pick alien or human.
Nice!
Thanks for the good attitude when covering these. Other videos like this are really doom and gloomy
I am a bit doom and gloomy when it comes to certain things like the card art, but in general I think this is a good direction
I find the original missions and deployment were good in the the fact they offered variety with how you could combine them as well as only having to worry about one singular objective. I don’t see why they couldn’t have just made a new system with the original battle cards, rather than changing what existed (as all the existing modes were good!). Several of the new modes seem to be area control (which is reflected with many of the keyword changes now being move centric).
The new missions seem pretty vanilla. We will probably get new missions when all of this rolls out in a year.
I don't want to make to many judgements until I play them but on paper I am a bit mixed
I wonder who thought that old cover rules were "right", maybe on characters, but definitely not on whole units
I get that, but I personally wasn't the biggest fan, I'll actually know for sure when I can get some games in
Wow those new cards are ugly
I know... I love the rules but the cards suffer
What company changes a product they sell in its entirety and not release one new product with updated rules or ways to get players interested and buying their game… AMG is self sabotaging this game.
Definitely. While it is available for Print the cards taking so long is such a negative
I was a bit shocked when the road map said it would all be a year from now. Was expecting Q4 alongside the riot and sleeper cell troopers.
This is great, and I love Stargrave/Frostgrave - but they are miniatures agnostic. I do love the figures that North Star has brought out to support them, but they are just as good (if not better) for other miniatures agnostic games (like Five Parsecs, or Space Weirdos). Thanks for this video, very informative and fun.
I like the video, but I disagree with Agent Kallis being "the worst" in Empire. His flaw card just deteres you from attacking with him specifically, which if you give him other options like electrobinoculars or portable scanners, that turn is still viable with little threat of panic. Or you just load him with the 4 suppression and remove some quickly with either the imperial officer or some other character. As much as I love the scout troopers (normal 4 man, not weapon team), every time I field them I feel like they get one good round in them before they get wiped by me either misplaying or a wookie get to me or anything else. It hurts me to say, but I put them as the worst, even with the scout 3 buff. 😪
3d Printing on demand is a thing. It's reasonably priced (especially vs GW and the like). I would include it with that caveat.
If you have blood Bowl in this Video you should Look for Blitzbowl! Ver fun Game much more modern than Bloodbowl 2 Player Set ist 45$ but i think you can get it for 30$ at least in Germany Most of the time IT IS discounted to 27-30€
OPR IS Rules free armybuilder free Paper Terrain free Paper Miniatures free or use any Terrain and any Minis that you Like to Play it... Or buy the l3d printed Minis can BE about 20$ Up for Skirmish per Team
Before i watch the Video the cheapest Skirmish Wargames are the OPR Skirmish Games you can Play them for a few cents
If you like Gangs of Rome, definitely check out Arena Rex by Red Republic Games
Will do!
This is a great video - really useful information!!
Glad it was helpful!
5 parsecs is one of the only games that made me want to tackle my pile of shame, to get new minis on the table every time I played.
Here is the reality as I see it. Every game is miniatures agnostic. Even Warhammer can be miniatures agnostic. All you need are the game rules and the willingness to use miniatures from whatever source you choose to use.
Your not wrong at all!
Killer list! The #1 is another one where you could've "cheated", since pretty much every single game based on Ed's Chain Reaction system can be played solo, co-op and head to head 🙂
Great list, with a few I did not know and will check out. Can recoment guilders a life in shadows my self for the mordheim players (can be a bit hard to find without the full name)
Thanks for the recommendation!
Great list! There were a couple I have never seen before. A coule others you may want to check out are A Song of Blades and Heroes. It has an interesting game mechanic. And Star Breach. It uses an initiative system like Bolt Action and it has faction lists where you can take Jedi against Space Marines.
Thanks for the recommendation! Star Breach sounds super interesting
A couple of my favorites are De Bellus Antiquitatus (DBA) for historical and Hordes of the Things (HOtT) for fantasy and sci-fi. Definitely not everyone’s taste but miniature and scale agnostic, small foot print and quick play.
I had a whole set of top down flat armies for DBA and HOtT we used to play while camping.
@@PatGilliland awesome! Through the years I’ve done everything from topdown to 28mm.
Brutality Skirmish Wargame all the way! Thank you for including it!
Lion Rampant and Dragon Rampant are absolutely awesome to play. Everything Snarling Badger is good fun, and the recent Deth Wizards is a great "play as the bad guys" romp. OPR wins every challenge against the bigger corp titles, excluding Warcry. BTW, I also recommend Sludge Wargame, which has a kitbash potential close to Turnip28 and works very well as a larger scale type of game.
Thanks for the recommendation I'll add it to my list!
Only tried Xenos Rampant, and do love it. Any reason to get the books for the other games?
@@andersand6576 Lion Rampant (2nd ed) is the OG ruleset, and has a expansive coverage of historical wargaming from the bronze age up to the early Renaissance. Give it a try if you're interested in the stuff, and it'll be easier as you already know the basics from XR.. Dragon Rampant is a self contained version of the rules to include fantasy elements such as big creatures, unit of monstruous humanoids, spellcasters, etc.
@@LucaLacchini Thanks. Might read the book before buying it.
Just to clarify: Space Station Zero isn't a dungeon crawl 'through space'; it takes place entirely on the titular station.
Idk I guess it depend on your view. I would call it a rogue lite(not roguelike) space dungeon crawl as it as “leveling”, gear upgrades, and a branching path.
Check out Yafsiga or This is not a test
Great video! I’d toss Fistful of Lead into the mix! It’s fantastic and open enough to use essentially any miniatures!
I'll look into it for sure!
Fistful series is great.
I am so hyped that you mentioned Deth Wizards and Verrotwood, thank you! Really love them, and making my little zomboid leader and some warbands for verrotwood and trench crusade. I'll definitely check out some of the other games, like necropolis28 You're doing Lords work, thank you
Maybe Studio tomahawks, got Saga and Muskets and Tomhawks
A great minis agnostic game that went unmentioned here is Frostgrave, by Joseph McCullough (same author of Oathmatk), it's basically a spiritual sequel of Mordheim, but with wizards as main characters and a frozen city as its setting.
The main reason is frostgrave has gotten repeated shootouts in my skirmish games video, so I chose a different one of his works for this one
The "Weirdos" games are absolutely fantastic! And I'm happy to see Brutality on this list. I think an often overlooked gem. It's a really solid game that sings once you get it to the table!
I like games rules you can keep in your head and that don't use a ton of status tokens. Nothing likea a mini with a trail of tokens behind it to throw immersion. However, it's fun to play something a bit more granular now and then too. One game I'd like to mention here that's MAG and what I would call a semi-lite rule set is Five Parsecs From Home. It has the added value of being a solo game though it's pretty easy to set up a multiplayer game and campaign.
Great video with a lot of interesting info. You missed a couple that I would recommend. 5 Leagues from the borderland, and 5 Parsecs from home. Very cool skirmish games with campaign / RPG twist to them.
I have actually covered these gamws before, but Categorizing these are hard and I may need to change my method of if I've previously covered them to not mention again in the future.
Nice Work!
Thanks!
Good content and straight to the point! Just the way that I love it!
Glad you enjoyed it!
The Doomed: Apocalyptic Horror Hunting is also a great one that's hardly ever brought up.
I'll add it to my list to check out!
Ironically I picked up sword weirdo's this week. have not had a chance to read the rules yet.
They are really solid, well worth the time to play!
The Weirdos games are fantastic.
They are amazing for sure!
I don't think Necropolis28 and Turnip28 have any relation to each other (other than both being 28mm games with 28 in their names). They appear to be written by difference people. Apologies if I'm incorrect.
You are correct, that is a fault on my end, when doing research wires where crossed. I'll pin this comment as reference, and I did at least include the correct links
Thankyou !
You're welcome!
I'm working on my turnip28 army right now.
Nice! It's on my list to start once I hit the right inspiration
I don’t see you on the discord soldier! State name and rank boy! 😂 Joking aside, I’ve been filling my Turnip army with the weirdest root growth
@@Checker123-j4z freedoom. I just posted in the mini pics channel my Root Brutes last night
Awesome! How many of the different units you adding? Would like an army that could play anything
@@freedoomed wait, same discord name as your CZcams name? I’m the guy with the monster miniatures and have been messing with root mutations
cool
This Guar's War is one that one can get in cheap. Wonderful and charming model and the box comes with two full squads and even cardboard terrain for 65£, not sure how much in USD but I feel it's one of the most unique wargames when it comes to aesthetics.
My homebrew was cheapest for me.
I work in a game store in Oklahoma and we picked up this entire line, NOONE looked at it for 9 months, even the Bolt Action folks. Ended up selling everything for pennies on the dollar. I got a good Konflict 47 collection now.
That happened at my local store as well, despite having a large bolt action scene Konflict was discounted out. I'm hoping in the future with new rules and more support its easier to grow a group
Battletech is he only game I can think of where the war game plays like a skirmish game and alpha strike their skirmish game is arguably better as a war game. But in either scenario each game will take at least 2 hours to play
Really? Alpha strike games usually only take me an hour or so to play.
@@Wargamerofalltrades I don’t play online I play in person, tabletop simulator frustrates me (it’s a personal problem not a reflection on online players) and we usually play company sized games of alpha strike. Our record right now is a battalion of mercs vs a cluster of jade falcons.
I play in person as well but didn't really consider table setup time, and how large you can go
@@Wargamerofalltrades that’s true honestly I probably do spend at least half an hour setting up, more if we count objective set ups
200+ Dollar Resin block vehicles that look, feel, and paint like absolute shit. K47 is a hard pass for me until this is addressed by Warlord.
Maybe I've just had amazing luck with the vehicles, but so far the Resin kits they have are far superior to a lot of other companies I have tried
hands down one of the cheapest systems you could get into is the 'USEME' range from alternative armies. for about £25 with a starter set containing 30 smth minis in total, making two armies, and all the rules, which fit on a dozen pages of a booklet. plenty of options for settings, but the one i went with was the cyberpunk theme. because the minis are 15mm they paint up in just a few hours total, so its a really cost effective way of scratching an itch you might have for a new genre/ setting, without a big buy in or huge time investment.
Thanks, I'll look into them
Had some of the two hour wargames books forever but never played them. They look super "automated" if that makes sense, as in the player has very little input as to what happens.
I swear your timing for stuff I'm looking into is impeccable, like hell, I was asking about this game in a discord chat to see how it fun it was, then I see the notification, then see the name, Are you hacking my PC? Can you like not? 🤣
I'm happy my timing is impeccable, and my Mascot sees all with its eyes
@@Wargamerofalltrades Yeah, I wasn't sure if the eyes were part of the trick. However, I'll secretly collect the models from my local store, paint it up, and then try to get two battleforces to demo the game to people... Let's just say my local area is a 40k swamp, there is not much SW Legion either which is ironic as I collect an ever-growing Imperial Army XD
40K players are the hardest to convert due to the sunk cost most have in the hobby, but I've managed to drag a few into more games. I've gotten lucky and my local gamestore has a decent variety of non 40k games that do well
