@@iisophhhx3956 I acted out the scene where she is talking about Matilda to Miss Trunchbull for my audition and my main advice is just to put yourself in her shoes. How would she feel in the scene your doing for the auditions? Maybe she would be all bubbly and excited or is she upset? But she never shouts at children unless it is words of encouragement so she is a nice character. I would also recommend watching the movie if you haven't to see what she is like?
they usually cast an actress, usually a freshman or sophomore, that reads as younger onstage than many of the other actors and actresses in the show. also, vertical height is a big factor too; they’ll cast an actress who is short (say, between 4’10 and 5’2) so that she looks even younger.
All of miss honeys songs are such tearjerkers

Just curious how did y’all do a high school performance of Matilda when the main character is 5? I’ve just always wondered
we are doing it and a year 7(grade 6 or 8 i cant remember lol in america) is doing it just bc they are smaller :)
So for my school we’re doing 5 grade up to seniors
@Autumn i got miss honey also! i’m sure you’ll be great :))
