The thing people need to remember is that for the Oscars, the orchestra isn't physically in the same building as the performers. The Dolby Theatre isn't big enough to hold the audience, the orchestra, and the stage, so the orchestra is actually in a building down the street. This makes it a little hard for the conductor and the artist to stay on the same page if there are technical issues, which apparently there were (Idina's earpiece wasn't working properly), so we have to give them a little bit of grace.

The way Aurora sings the "Ohhhhh" parts are basically Kulning, an ancient singing style from the scandinavian culture and some countries at the north. Kulning is a call from home, where you belong. She´s perfect for this song: the kind of songs Aurora creates are really tied to that meaning. Feeling lost and looking for something more. I love her so much.

Yes, good singers who can perform at this level are hard to find. It was noticeable from the multilingual song videos accompanying the first ‘Frozen’ film that Disney had scoured the world and - successfully - found female singers who had remarkably similar range, tone and timbre in their voices. So, where they found a singer who can sing in more than one language, that singer performed in more than language. The lady who sings Elsa’s voice in Dutch and German is the same (Willemijn, as you know). I recall that another language pairing where the same singer sang in both languages was a Filipina lady (sorry, I don’t remember her name) who sang Elsa’s voice in both Tagalog and Cantonese. In that way, the song ‘sounds’ the same in terms of tone and ‘colour’, as it’s the same singer - only the actual words are different.

I thought the same, but her early entrance at the end (“where are you going, don’t leave me alone”) kind of confirmed to me that she was having earpiece issues. Most of the song did just feel rushed, but there at the end she was just SO ahead of her cue. I hate things like this for artists, in a live show you obviously only get the one chance and to have an issue that’s not your fault throw you off like that (especially at a MAJOR event like the Oscars) is so frustrating!

This isn't the first performance where she is rushing. I've seen a couple were she's going faster than the orchestra or the tempo

Aurora was amazing here, but I have to admit Idina was A LOT out of time, singing in advance of the melody.
Too bad Italy and France were not there 😭

There are already many languages from Europe in this perfomance, they should have put Portuguese (Brazil) there..

I assume she'd sung it a billion times at one tempo and they slowed it down for this one performance. She was probably relying a lot on muscle memory or habit than she should have been so she could've kept with the slower speed. That said, she still did a good job. And I was sad France wasn't there either!

The Norwegian woman killed it and she was so bubbly and smiley (don't think that a word but whatever) the whole time it made me happy just looking at her.
