In this video we look at how to turn for the first time, focusing on staying in the snowplough triangle shape, and twisting our legs and feet to help guide the skis where we want to go.

I started skiing when I was 2-3 (14 now) and I find it hard to teach my friends how to ski bc I don’t remembers how I learned, but this will help haha
Awesome 😎 hope it helps 🤙🏻
i started skiing around the same age and i’m 15 now haha!
@@hiii9386 ey cool!:)))
Same!!!
@@Boris-dq3ub haha that was what my dad did to teach me lol😭
Haven’t been on the slopes for decades. Every memory is wonderful & for me life changing. Not an overstatement either. It was life.
It's such a fantastic sport done in some beautiful locations. I agree, it gives great memories 😁
Thank you for your comment.
Nice I’m a snowboarder but I know skiers and this would help them
Thank you. If you are a snowboarder, have you seen Malcolm Moore’s channel. He has great information and tutorials for snowboarders.
Im going skiing in 5 days. Excited!
wroteshaw watched this vid on his latest sidemen sunday 😂
Haha that’s class. I just saw 😀 I hope it helped 😀
Excellent instruction.
Turning is for beginners. Experts point them down like Donny.
I am on the way to ski right now
Awesome. Where are you going?
Love the channel man keep it up
Thank you 😀
So that we can go ahead with the following details
👌
What’s the difference between the thick and thin skis? I’m getting really into it and starting to get better and want my own pair.

Great question, here’s a little video on different skis.
@@skicoachingonline thank you!
I'm going to Park City tomorrow
Awesome. Have fun! 😀
What camera are you using? I travel a lot and have been looking for that „invisible” type stick for a long time

I am going skiing tomorrow hopefully i survive
Good luck, I hope you had fun! 😁
i did thank you very much! @@skicoachingonline
Can I do the black trail on my first day
Maybe, probably not though. Some people can get there in a week if they're super keen! 😁
Lean on the opposite direction of which way you want to turn
Sometimes this helps if someone tends to favour one leg, but often to start it is more beneficial to turn using your feet and legs.
Thank you for your comment.
shifting weight side to side is more effective, and introduces the beginner to using the edges..
This is an outdated method. PSIA training avoids the "weight transfer" idea and opts for turning with the feet. Modern skis do not require you to throw your weight around like you used to have to
Potentially. Teaching the students to turn their legs and feet will help guide the ski where they want to go, the triangle (pizza, snowplough) will mean that they are on their inside edges, and gives them enough feeling for their edges.
Sometimes focusing on the edges too early can stop the skier from being able to steer their skis using their legs. Which means little control of speed, that can lead to fearful skiers.
Hey man, love the jacket! I’m tryna get myself an orange get up too (already got the pants) where did you buy the jacket from?
Thank you. It’s a Patagonia jacket and pants. 😀👍🏻 I got it online.
Make sure you don't do french fries when you need to pizza or your gonna have a bad time mmm k
😂 classic
Who’s recording you? 🫠
Myself, on a selfie stick :)
@@skicoachingonline
How are you even holding a selfie stick while you’re skiing?
I did a beginner course today and It went horrible. I can’t even go forwards without crashing. I’m just to stupid for this shiz
Never! Keep going, you’ll get it! 😀💪🏻
Keep trying man you’ll get it
@ericsong5155 yes 😀
Yes yesterday I practiced 3 hours and now I can ride curves and steeper mountains. I guess practice makes perfect 🫠😅
@synix7311 yes that’s great! Practice is great 👍🏻 even better when it’s skiing 😀
Can confirm this is an average black run in the American Northeast lol
😂
Here from the sidemen😂
Amateurs.just put your weight on the opposite foot you want to go
Thank you for your comment but the information you are saying is not factual. For people just learning to ski, just putting weight on a foot won’t make it turn more than whatever the radius is. That’s assuming it’s on an edge. This will not work.
The ski must be manipulated through rotation or edge to turn.
Yeah, no
What do you mean?
Don’t do this
Why should you not do this?
@@skicoachingonline mostly because bigginers will get in the habit of doing that and it makes it way harder for them to learn the proper way of stopping
