"Blew up" might not have been the best wording for your thumbnail. LOLOL
I was about to say the same thing. Of all the words to choose.
In an alternate timeline, this band single-handedly brought peace to the middle east, Bill & Ted-style.
👍🏻🤘🏻
a timeline where Martin Luther King and John Lennon were still alive ...
I wanna live in this timeline
I doubt they can do much with emulating the activities of two stoners.
We need a band like this now more than ever
Thank you for this. I’m Jewish and have been gifted an extensive collection of World Music over the decades ... I want to see if I can stumble on this wax or album, even if it’s a cassette. Music can really be a healing force, and this band seems to have made a lasting impression. Have a great day!
Thanks! You too!
"Blew up" in the thumbnail made me laugh.
Devil's Anvil? Totally sounds like an early eighties metal band.
Definitely
For anyone curious, this album is on streaming. My first impression on it is that the hooks are definitely there. I think it would have made a reasonable splash with the right push, since they were on a major label. It is a genuinely pop/ hard rock record alongside its ethnic influences, and there was growing interest in international sounds around this time after all. Considering it came out at such a contentious time, though, and considering America's influence on the world, there's always difficulty in gauging whether a piece of music like this would make a unifying impact on historically opposed countries, or simply fall flat. Ideally, it would have been great for it to have eased the tension a little bit given the genuine friendship and chemistry between the members, but at the end of the day, the potential to lose money was at the forefront of Capitol's mind. Regardless of that, 'm glad that the album is not only available to hear and is gaining an audience, but that you decided to cover it. More people need to know about this and hear it 🤘
Devil's Anvil sounds like a Yu-Gi-Oh trap card 😂
It sounds like a cool NWOBHM or black thrash band, like Witchnight, or Hellwitch, or Nocturnal Witch, or Witchhammer, or Witchfinder General, or Witchmaster, or Master's Hammer, or Devil Master, or Mortuary Drape, or Lucifer's Hammer, or some such
They toured with Spinal Tap in the late 60s. Did a collaboration called Smell The Devil's Glove.
Similarly, you hear a synthesis of East and West in songs like Led Zeppelin's "Battle of Evermore", especially in the live version with an Indian singer doing Sandy Denny's part. Medieval and ethnic European music has some similarities to music further East. Perhaps this leads us all the way back to something shared in "Indo European" culture.
Great video! I appreciate bands that are 'off the grid' such as these guys. Amazing story.🤟
Oddly enough, I won my vinyl copy of this lp on ebay right around 9- 11, 2001. When it showed up, I felt weird playing it. But i instantly loved it and I play it regularly to this day.
I LOVE IT! I've been listening to them for the last couple months and love there version of Misirlou! Thanks for the video!!!
Our pleasure!
Guess they had A blast
I thought this story might be too explosive…
@@rnrtruestories 😱😂🤣✌🏼
Tinawiren is a superb example of underrated eastern music!
I'm israeli and never heard of them, sounds insane just to think about it.
Thanks for this video
Great video.
Well I learned something new today. How kool! 👍🏻✌🏼😊
So glad!
Curious and very enjoyable.
Glad you enjoyed it!
After doing some reasearch on these guy's and listenting to the album one interesting thing I found was Kareem was a Melkite Christian(Greek-Catholic). Probably why the album has a bunch of traditional Greek songs on it including Misiriou which could be a video in of itself.
That was so interesting, thank you! Fascinating to hear they played Turkish and Greek music ...The links with Palestine so acutely pertinent right now. Is their music still available???!
It should be on CZcams
I actually used to have a copy of this album.
Your works dope
Thanks
The world needs to stop judging
Their careers never BLASTED off like a missile but, instead, TANKed
I like when Israelis and Palestinians collaborate in art. Art can heal.
Damn, you don't look at all how I imagined you.
I was picturing at eldest a 23 year old white guy with a baseball cap and probably dyed black hair, maybe a lip piercing too.
Love the channel, been around from when you had a few hundred subscribers.
Sheik is pronounced the same as shake. 👍
You’ve been around that long. You should know he’s been videotaping himself for quite a minute. You’re just now noticing what he looks like just asking a question. Don’t get offensive over the question. Have a great day.✌🏼😊
Interesting choice of words.
Construction company in Israel? That is true job security
I've been to the West Bank and Israel several times, really cool story.
lol thought this might be about Chromeo....brb gonna go listen to Chromeo real quick
Oh Marmaduke!
Check out "Orphaned Land" and "Khalas" metal bands
Sigue Sigue Sputnik?
I thought they were actually going to explode
Let me guess. The members were extremely territorial. So much so they decided to establish boundaries.
👍
I wonder if the stage was segregated.
This might inspire ai works , we udio guys realize udio is a podium for rhetoric, lyricists . Cause the music is brainless to produce. I was told their ai model is bAsed on the same code as music gen, meaning it’s unstoppable, like any ai it’s just a fact, learn it, love it. And don’t bother making policy, the ai if it becomes self aware will just resent it like a child to a clueless parent setting down laws
Poogie was the best.
Oh wow that just sounds insane but yeah no I guess.
Sometimes I feel like I have missing time! 🤔🥴
