This video explains how to set up a 309 SME Audio Arm using the tools provided by the factory and come in the tonearm box. (The use of scales is recommended too)
I've used this tonearm on my VPI table for over 20 years and it is very musical with a well produced lp and a proper setup. Since the store that sold me my turntable, arm, cartridge combo has gone out of business, it has fallen to me to ensure a proper setup as I changed cartridges over the years. To that end it would have been helpful, in this video, if the horizontal tracking angle was off, because I would have benefitted from watching you use the HTA key to adjust the position. Lastly, considering the price of this tonearm, I am somewhat surprised that the supplied template is constructed of cardboard, and not something more substantial like metal or plastic, although I realize that's an issue with SME and not PADOOD.
Is the sme v in the same way to fix? And makes it sense to to center the Tonarm new after replacing the cartridge? Are dynavectors good partners to sme v (te kaitora) in case you may have experiences! Thanks for this video
Would help if you showed how you got the settings absolutely perfect. For example, you don't show how to change the VTA. There are steps missing in this to make it a true set up video.
"And, as you can see, the arm is (NOT) perfectly parallel." Not sure why I stayed on after hearing that horrendous "HAITCH", but I did. Dude, you're educated. WHY, oh, WHY do you pronounce the H "HAITCH"? It's just wrong.

Utterly confidence-inspiring.

I have a 309 on an old VPI TNT, and what a great combination for over 15 years! I just love how robust SME 'arms are to use, play, setup, etc.
