Today I do an update on these $39 speaker cables I spoke of a couple of years ago. Man, time goes by so fast but here I am, still using these and finally I have decided on what to do with them.
KEEP using them. This is the only cable I will recommend from here on out. No need to spend more unless you want to ; )
Get them at Amazon Prime HERE: amzn.to/4bEFQEl
Enjoy!

Build your own interconnects and speaker cables....Mogami is great quality that doesn't break the bank.
I bi-amp my Linn speakers with those cables. They work great and look nice and make a great connection.
I'm going to go buy a bag of popcorn (instead of new speaker cables) and enjoy the snack while reading the comments that are about to spring forth. Will be far more noticeable and entertaining. 😁
The thing I find really amusing is how different people's experiences are. I wonder how that works. And placebo's work both ways :) But I do like popcorn....
🤣🤣🤣. For premium flavor - make sure the bag your popcorn is kept in, costs a fortune and is made of exotic materials.
@@VonKickass Ah yes, Teflon, copper, pvc.. Very exotic 😅
Switched from generic cables to Blue Jeans cables and I can’t honestly say that I heard a difference, but I really like the way they look and feel, plus the locking banana plugs are a pleasure to use.
Hi
I am really happy with those, I got them almost 2 years ago and they do a great job on my Focal speaker and Sugden amp! 💯💯💯
I use these Micca speaker cables on my Polk Audio LSi25 mains and LSiC center. I wish they made them in custom lengths so that I could use them on my LSiFX surrounds. These cables are fantastic! I use a Rotel RSP-1582v.2 pre/pro and a Rotel RMB-1585 5-channel amplifier.
I was thinking about cutting them and adding banana plugs
I bought these cables after a previous review you made about them 2 years ago.
They are great, thankyou
I tried those, sounded really nice! But found some Atlas cables used for quite a bit more that worked much better after a speaker change. It really is system dependent 👍🏼
Excellent cables that I bought on your recommendation. Do you know if the same brand has them in longer that 12ft? I can't seem to find any
Thank you. I use your recommended cables and am very glad you recommended them -- well balanced and very clear. How about doing something like that using interconnects? That would be extremely ingeresting and helpful as you plow through differences in moderately priced (
I have had those cables (Micca 14 Gauge Pure Copper Speaker Wire) for over 3 years ghey sound great! and Zeos likes them too! Cheers!
I bought a pair based on your review. I have say they sound fantastic. Thanks for the suggestion.
Like to hear your opinion on budget vs high-end interconnects.
I hear a difference every time i change a cable but i'm pretty sure it's placebo effect. Super powerful effect, the mind is very tricky.
Whether it is Placebo or not, it shouldn't matter! At the end of the day, you hear a difference.
Nailed it 🔨
Yeah
Exactly
Cables make an objective difference. Accept it
how do you feel about the different gauges of speaker cable? is 14 enough?
I bought those from Amazon and they are well built. I needed something with thicker banana plugs but that’s because I am hooking up old speakers and the terminals have some wear.
Been using these in both my system and glad I did not fall into the Speaker Cable Rabbit hole before I got these :)
I recently bought some of those on Amazon and I really like them. I prefer that they don't have big clunky connectors that can unscrew.
wow!!!!! Just, wow!!!!! I purchased the 2M(6ft.) pair of Micca cables. Thank you for the suggestion.
Built my own mogami 3104 with Viborg pure copper banana plugs very happy with them
I have the TFA Mogami 3104's. Great cables.
"Built my own mogami 3104 with Viborg pure copper banana plugs very happy with them"
Where can I buy a 100ft roll of Mogami 3104 cable?
I'm from the UK I only bought the length I required from giraffe audio in Birmingham it cost £20 meter so not the cheapest for 100m maybe you could try and get it directly from Japan could be more cost effective that way
The TRUTH is : Result is NOT correlated to price !
One cable, one result ! Don't expect anything before you try ! Price doesn't matter !
Wisdom comes with the age.
Thanks for being truthful .1.000 us 🇺🇸 never more
While all the cable journeys are going on, I’m doing fine with 18 gauge lamp cord.
Exactly !!!
How much do your amp and speakers cost?
I love this. LOL. !!!!!
Quick question....I bought the micca cables and they are really really nice. In the future, I could buy some speakers that might have the option to be bi wired. I tried to see if micca made bi wire cables and I can't find any by them. Is there a nice set like the micca of a bi wire cables that you like as much?
I also use micca cables…much more detail in the music than audio quest I was using
The type of insulation affects the sound. No specs on it. Long term, the best connectors are crimped not soldered to not change over time.
Tommy rot
Cable talk 3.1 bought in the year 2000 at £3.50 per meter and they're great and I'm not looking to change, but I have been known to be a tightarse🤔😬😁
Is there any specs on these cables? Capacitance and inductance values per ft?
I use a set of prefaire cables from Amazon, and I think they were about $40. I love them, but I’ve considered picking up these just to see if there is any difference since Amazon returns are super easy.
Have noticed a drop in sound on pro audio equipment when connections have not been moved or changed after time. A bass amp with a lot of drop off in tone and pulled then replaced the speaker connections . May this be happening to a lesser degrees with stereo equipment
Thanks for the GREAT Videos. !!!
I think that any cable you place between components will become part of the overall circuit. Changing the circuit will affect the sound for better or worse. Find the synergy.
I love the Valhalla too.
without a doubt about the circuit, or one could just, gasp!, buy an amp with tone controls.
complete nonsense use eq
So next time before swapping cable follow this test: disconnect your existing cables, clean both the speaker posts and your existing cable’s connectors. Reconnect and listen, make your notes and swap the cables.
I only use those, thanks to your insight
Hello, what are you using usb cable? There is no usb cable from micca
In 50 years in Hi end audio the only difference you will really hear is if you change speakers only
Or turntable cartridge
Funny so many talk about speaker cables where as interlinks have a far greater impact.. Measurable impact that is.
I just listen to some OCC cables from Canada that are made to a high quality standard that are resonably priced. No need for the exotics and yes I have listend to various popular brands.
Distortion usually increases and the laws of diminishing returns come to play or make things worse. Devil in the details
The most I’ve ever spent on cables were for my Mofi Sourcepoint 10. I purchased a set of Worlds Best Cables Ultimate - 7 AWG cables. One thing is for sure. If cables could be built like tanks, these cables are it.189 a set. Is there scientific proof that cables actually have a “sound”. Not sure. I do find it hilarious though when seeing people post about a particular cables “sound”. Perhaps they do. I just go for cables that are built well and to last. Anything from WBC has been great for my systems.
Ah, yes, only since quite recently scientific research is done into them. Because there is remarkably little there. What is AWG by the way?
@@erwindewit4073it’s 7 guage copper wire. (Ofc). Worlds best cables are made well and do not cost a ton. That’s why I like them. Now whether or not they sound better or worse than cables more or less than them, I have no clue. Lol. Not sure I can tell any differences. lol.
i like monster platinum xp ofc wire.
Thanks
I just go for max awg for my cables
Speaker cables from Sommer, Belden , Gotham cables are well built, relatively neutral across the spectrum and has been used by many audiophiles.
all cables are neutral,if not they would be lcr filters..
I would love to get your review of cables by AF Audio in the UK.
In germany we had the Sommer cable elefant 4x2.5mm2 for 6€/$ -/ Meter. 👍👍🇩🇪
Greeting you from the USA... ✌️
Hello from Australia 🇦🇺
Using Tara Labs cables in my system, $2000 per metre - love them 👍
Thank you, if the amp and speakers work nicely together, you don’t need to tune the sound further with expansive cables 🥳🥳
cables cant and dont tune the sound
are you saying they make no difference at all?
Only difference is your wallet is lighter.
I'm faced with a non-ideal set up in a new apartment. This likely isn't a long term living scenario, but I want to set up my system while we're here. I need something as long as 30 feet. Do you know of any options that could fit that need?
The only time you might need a greater CSA cable is for runs over 100 ft
All my cables sounds different and some of them works better on some of my speakers. According to my sound preference
most amps etc I've seen recommend 14 ga wires not $ 200 a foot stuff, just copper wire. I'm using 10 ga now, used 14 ga 'monster' type for like 2 decades no problem but thought it was getting funky, at least visually. the standard wire gauge per length of wire run factor.
I have had problems with ' banana plugs' from E bay ( nakamichi brand ) breaking. irritating.
Has anyone measured characteristics of these cables? I mean LCR and other parameters.
Some folk even think the cable direction does have an affect, But the cable don't know what way it's facing, it's just wire thick or thin, long runs can have an affect but a twelve foot short run can't really be heard or measured thick or thin in terms of sound quality.
Those direction indicators are related to the shielding/grounding construction of the cable not the 'direction' of the wire.
You'd better change the internal cables in the speakers as well. Otherwise what you're doing isn't much different from taking a speaker cable, cutting it in half and replacing one half with a different cable.
Thank you 👍🏻
Exactly what I found. With my old system I had £9k's worth of silver cables all through and they made a huge difference. But, they sound awful in my current system (2wpc SET and single drivers), which in turn sounds amazing with cotton insulated, tinned copper, Western Electric style cable from Duelund/Belden/Switchcraft.
If you understand rudimentary electronics....
Owell let just say that it's placebo at best
Buy Curtains !. Are you joking..
Placebo is a reality.
Nice review, like following your hifi opinions - well, for thé first time I fully disagree with you: speaker cables are as important as interconnect cables and power cables ( and powerline conditioning). You may be living - perhaps in a nice cuiet rural environment)
I just use pure 14 gauge silver wire with an over sized teflon jacket.
"just"? That sounds expensive.
@@Hyxtryx
Could be, but I only needed 2 meters for two 1 meter length for my powered speakers.
Check out eB.
I used 8 gauge teflon, maybe found at pet shops.
They blew away the flat Nordost knockoffs that are expensive elsewhere.
Indeed... cables do matter but at what cost ? High end cables are priced like jewelry... up to 500% markup ! I am thrilled with my Amazon cables and have the rest of the $$$ invested for the future.
I bought these off of your last review and have been very happy with them. Coming from lamp cord speaker wire to these cables did vastly improve sound quality, the music was much cleaner with greatly improved detail.
My favorite speaker cables are Chord Signature XL
Going up to my front height speakers
i’ve got two pairs of these cables and I must admit I don’t like them much. You and Andrew Robertson speak so highly of them and you are far more seasoned than I yet I like my Kimber VS considerably better. Perhaps they just don’t complement my systems.
I had these cables in different audio rigs and they sucked in every set up! They are dark and very muffled sounding. I replaced these on all my audio set ups with Blue Jean cables ($120 a pair). Sound improvement about 20% for the better. Clear and detailed - it is like I lifted a curtain. It happened on three different systems like this. It should be a crime to recommend these cables.
@@klinkfoto Thats kind of the impression I get…The mids are decent but they are very dark but also not big in the bass.
@@scottanderson6807 Yes, you are correct with the bass. With the Blue Jean cables I have a way stronger, precise and punchy bass. I can't really understand why these cables are so popular??? I also have to question professional audio reviewers ...
Had Kimber 8 TC and swapped for Mogami 3104, cheaper and better....
@@dominiquedistefano how?
@@Didadumdam Sound has better bass, is richer and is smoother to my ears....
I just want speaker cables to have low impedance, low inductance or capacitance, and be physically robust and easy to use.
Low capacitance doesn't even matter a whole lot for speaker cable, that's more applicable for instrument and microphone cable for example.
Why do so many reviewers talk about cables but fail to talk about the connectors? Connectors can be more important than the wire itself. And no connectors can be even better. So much confusion for the Neo-audiophile.
100% Correct "Silver Connector " that degrades without cleaning I use bare wire copper just twist the strands.
SubPar connection equals weak sound
don't tune audio with a bad connector
This topic has been for decades the same old same old only because in the 80's the Monster folks lit the nutty fuse.....its just plain hilarious.
I make my own cables, 16ga
Remember, It's Not the truth, just your opinion.
Which is great opinion 😃
@@linleechiun Hahahaa, and yet, nothing more :)
A lot talk about cable but nobody has mentioned the csa of the cable being used . If you compare 30 foot of the stuff that comes with a car radio to 6 inch of heavy monster cable, the difference will be very obvious. So cable does make a difference.
What is CSA? Why are you talking about comparing 30 feet of one cable to 6 inches of another? I don't get it...
Physics says cables do not make a discernable difference
I use cables similar to those inside speakers. Anything else would cause an electrical and so sonic imbalance
That's just too logical. You must be Vulcan! Get out of here and drop your audiophile license in the rubbish bin as you leave .. LOL. 😁
Hmm not sure about that... You can run into issues with voltage drop etc
@@PotHat no cause for drop if it's the same cables. 'Audiophile' cables, you will
Much too thin for my liking. I need at least 9 awg.
And how many hp do you need in your car?
You don't unless you're running the cable like 20m
I use zip cord and EQ's. Same Same.
18 gauge like what I use?
I use power lines from electrical sub-stations
These Micca cables and EQ. Better Better. 🙂
The extent of the effect probably depends on the elements of the chain.
I have seven types of speaker cables. My system sounds different with each one.
The effect of the speaker cables on the sound is greater than that of the connecting cables (between DAC and amplifier).
you all need to learn very elementary physics
If you are looking for something "special", I recommend renting Luna Cables model Gris cables from Canada. Very musical, smooth, analog and "organic" sound like tubes.
so record a A B test. and upload. so that we can here the proof. thanks
Before those A-B comparisons reach your ear they have been processed for recording, streaming and the played through your devices into the space you are at that moment. Nothing about that sound will be representative anymore certainly the extremely subtle differences in SQ.
bro why don't you answer questions?
The truth is that videos like this about cables are click bait and nothing else.
I tried these cables when you first recommended them they’re absolutely awful
Try wbc thr 8awg, they pack with details
Try wbc 8awg one, they pack with details
Could you be a bit more specific?
What don't you like about them?
Come on,awful🤔
Seriously now. There is no difference as long as the cable works well.
Most boring subject known to mankind
And yet, you replied ;)
@@erwindewit4073 I made a comment not a reply, a reply is what you made 😂
@@tothemax324 Nice! 🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣💥
This is highly controversial subject... But I always found that speaker cables made most of a difference in my systems
Those $40 cables are highly flawed. I actually unsubscribed after trying them first-hand. Those $40 cables are worth about $40 and are not even close to awesome.
If you aren’t concerned with that last 5%, then ypu need to step down to mid-fi.
