I fully support this theory. It's not that she is an Airbender herself, but rather she is descended from Airbenders. Sort of like how Sokka is descended from Waterbenders but isn't a Waterbender himself.
heres the thing, decendents from air benders gained powers after some spirit stuff happend in LOK, so maybe if she did spiritual training she could airbend
@@DeviousPivotGamingAleartwait, was it explicitly stated they were descendants of the air nomads? I thought it was random.

Sadly this theory doesn’t work with Air Nomands as due to them being so spiritually in tune 100% of the population were benders. Same with Tenzin as all his children were benders since Aang paid a lot more attention to him due to him being born an Air Bender he was taught the spiritual side of things more in depth

Her family wasn't hiding in the circus. Her father was a general or some other form of high ranking military. Ty Lee only joined so she could differentiate herself from her sisters.
i think that's where the theory drops the ball. honestly, after two generations, it's not like they'd need to hide. as a matter of fact id wagger that the air nomad that she's descendant from likely tried to aggressively assimilate in order to survive and to save his descendants he instilled an excessive adherence to the fire nation

There's a fan theory that some Airbenders survived the Fire Nation invasion from 100 years ago & they chose to hide thier bending when integrating within the Earth Kingdom. While there were no more Airbenders once Aang is freed from the iceberg, the Airbending race still exists in the world & by the time Harmonic Convergence happens in Korra the descendants of Airbenders who survived are the people who gained Airbending abilities. It's also believed that people like Tai Lee were 1 of these people who might have been a descendant of surviving Airbenders given her fighting style in the show, & by Korra 1 or 2 of the new Airbenders are related to her.
I had a theory that I think there have been generations of airbenders living around the world but because many weren’t spiritual they had no access to their bending similar to korra in book air she is an airbender but her bending was locked behind her lack of spirituality and when convergence happened that boost in spiritual energy just allowed airbenders to truly unlock that ability that was blocked through spiritual negligence
I mean it's kinda supported by the Kyoshi novels
This is logical, but you forgot to explain how they lost their bending and what harmonic convergence did. Airbenders are spiritual people, but when they stop their spiritual believes their bending will slowly disappear. To not stand out in the eart kingdom and their more grounded ideology many stopped being spiritual. But harmonic convergence send a big wave of spiritual energy which could open their blocked paths, which of not done anything with spiritually then the ability would also go dormant again.
This is my new head canon.
It make so much sense that Harmonic Convergence unlocked some latent air bending spiritual gene rather than randomly giving out bending powers.
It never made sense that it was specifically air, why not water? or rock? or even Fire?
@@deathking1019 By that logic non of the new airbenders would be able make a simple breeze. Their power would be extremely weak
Her father is a noble man as said by Azula when they met again for the first time

Was coming to say this^ how you don’t have more likes is beyond me
She was probably born with a fire bender father and an air bender mother (and vice versa). She probably took the fire bender traits and took the air bender looks.
I'd argue none of her parents are even airbenders. Just airbender descendants of an airbender and non-bender partner
I haven't watched the show in a while and forgot basically everything, thanks for the correction
It's theorised that the descendants of those same air nomads were the same people who unlocked their airbending in Legend of Korra due to harmonic convergence.
I think that’s basically cannon at this point cus it’s impossible for all the air nomads to be wiped even the show realized this it would explain why bumi (anngs son) got airbending powers just wish we saw ty Lee get them too

I understand the theory and seaports it but one crucial detail was forgotten, in the episode where she is first introduced azula asks her “what’s the daughter of a nobleman doing in a circus” which tells us where her parents are
That because tsozen's sister left to become an air nomad and married and had kids with one. That means fire nation heir married air nomad had a kid and that kid married back into the fire nation and had an air nomad child (ty lee) aka in reality, prince zuko's long lost second cousin. You only find this out from spoilers of the original writing. This means that she has the capability of being and air nomad or firebender if her DNA actually complimented the other elements.
It doesn't have to be due to escaping from the fire nation. It can be possible her family moved to the fire nation generations ago and developed a strong noble roots. She mostly left her family because she got tired of being a part of a set of 7 identical sisters.
Same the characters Matpat chose people who come from a pretty old dynasty allowing culture preferences like eye color and other things to set in.
While Tai lees circus family "explored the world"( if you catch my drift).
Also it's makes sense that they would move in, happens all the time in the real world, some nomadic group finds super useful resource or trade, and as the world develops, said groups settle down with all the wealth
And that's the joy of theories. The possibilities are endless
When Aang's face was swapped with Ty Lee's, it looked exactly like the fire nation girl who protrayed him in the play 😂💀

I'm pretty sure when we first see Ty Lee, Azula mentions how her parents are Fire Nation Nobles and questions her as to why the daughter of such a prestigious family in the Fire Nation ran off to join the circus.
given a situation like Zuko's can exist it's very possible that one side of the family just had an air nomad a part of it. nothing is really stopping them from getting into relationship especially if they arent/cant bend.
so that doesn't really rule anything out
Fire lord sozin had a sister who was very closely acquainted with an air nomad dude. This is canon btw. There is a video that explains it if you just search firelord Sozins sister
Or she could just be from the Fire Nation. There are millions of Fire Nation people, you think they all look and fight exactly alike? You really think it preposterous that one person would be floaty/graceful and chi blocking?
Plus why does being a chi blocker stand as evidence for air nomad ties anyway? Utilizing non-lethal methods of incapacitating your enemies doesn’t necessarily make you any less dangerous or violent.
It could be that she was trained by an Air Nomad refugee in the circus.
Adopted or maybe infedility.
This fan theory has been around for a while, but I'd like it to be explored more in the upcoming Avatar productions. It'd be a really interesting swerve on the character and seeing more about air nomads who weren't necessarily benders and how they might have escaped the genocide.
Id love it if it was an air nomad that fled during the attack that killed monk giatso and found love in the fire nation with a chi blocker and had a baby(tai li) and in order to keep her and her sisters safe her parent blocked her bending.
Before the 100 year war all air nomads were also air benders. It's only after the war and in Korra's time that we see non-bending air nomads because people picked up the culture without having been born to the air nomads in the first place
Wait. Upcoming Avatar productions? Am I out of the loop?

The 7 Ty Lee
Ty Lee was born into a noble fire nation family, which was really the only way she could’ve ended up childhood friends with Azula and Mai. She didn’t grow up in a circus, she just ran away from home to join it.
I personally believe that Ty-Lee and Mai were paid to be Azula's 'friends'. That payment could have easily been a nobility position
That really feels like a stretch. Plus I feel like a detail as heavy as that would’ve certainly come up canonically.
What you said is true, but it still doesn't rule out potential air nomad heritage further down the line which could have discretelt been passed on. Perhaps someone married into royalty. Unfortunately, there are still a lot of inconsistencies with this theory
An air nomad survivor with nothing to their name would have to marry into a noble lineage of a xenophobic culture. All within the span of less than 100 years.
But azula never talked about her parents like she did May’s so maybe azula believed her but never met her parents
Kinda makes sense
She generally avoids causing physical damage, doesn't look like she's from the fire nation. My theory is that before Firelord sozin wiped the air nomads out, either her grandparents or great grandparents were traveling at the time, or were lucky enough to escape. If they were Airbenders, they probably didn't achieve the rank of master, therefore lacking the signature tattoos, making it easier to blend in. They could also have been accolades, possibly not being able to Airbend at all. Either or, it's a sound theory, and I'm hoping we see an actual backstory for tai Lee in the future
*valkist party of germany approves this comment*
Unfortunately. All air nomads could Airbend due to their natural spirituality. However. In the 100 years that passed, that ability could've been lost for the sake of protection. Making her a non bender. But still with the physical features of an air nomad.
Another theory is that pema ( tenzons wife )was one of her sisters also due a sketch one of the animators made for a exclusive for the comic where a younger ginora is wearing a costume like Ty Lee's and she looks nearly the same

Also her fight style blocks the energy flow of the body, know as ki wich hardly translate to air for westerns or at least is related.
My going theory is that some air nomads voluntarily gave up air bending so they could better hide from the fire nation, after realizing that the fire nation was luring surviving nomads into traps, and eventually they had families and children who then went on to have children of themselves, until harmonic convergence happened, causing the descendants of these survivors to regain the ability to airbend.
😂 I love how he portrayed all her other sisters. Ty Lee clones with different colored outfits. We never saw her sisters in the show did we...
In the comics, we see them. And as stated in the episode, The Beach, she has six identical sisters.
They’re identical sextuplets
Not in the show, but they are mentioned in the episode called The Beach and Ty Lee said that they were all identical. There was also a comic where she was reunited with them and they all looked exactly like her, but I think they had different colored outfits.
I think I heard somewhere that it was speculated that the member of the Ember Island Players that played Aang might have been one of her sisters. I'm not sure if that was ever confirmed, though.
@@barbatosmcmurderton4209Nope, Ty Lee was the only one to join the circus. The others lived normal lives.
She's not an Air "bender"
Her family is probably from one of the Air Nomads, though.
And like the other 3 nations, not everyone in them is a Bender (Sokka can't bend water, for instance)
And Zuko’s girlfriend can’t bend fire, for instance.
Imagine if the Legend of Korra writers were more competent and actually used that for their Air Nomad Revival plotline.
Find the Traveling Circus and trace the paths of Lee and her relatives to find as many as they could.
Many people should exist who had Air Nomad heritage/ancestry.
The Air Nomads bending is directly tied to their spirituality and being the most spiritual people every air nomad born is a bender, their power can greatly weaken if they go against their spirituality as was the case for Avatar Kyoshi's mother who used fans to make up for it. Ty Lee is very spiritual but due to the war and fire nation killing off all air nomads the bending was likely dormant until the sudden surge of energy harmonic convergence gave out reawakened it.
@@asitallfallsdown5914 that sounds stupid. Having an entire season revolve around banking on the fact that a side character from the previous show might be an air nomad without it being confirmed in any other source material sounds like a weird idea. If you actually did your research instead of slandering hardworking people you would know that due to time constraints, budget cuts, and staff layoffs they were facing issues every week. Competency has nothing to do with it, and your bad idea isn’t making that case better
Technically, prior to the genocide, lore says all air nomads were benders.
I have held this theory for years!!!! The validation of seeing it here is amazing.
She ran away to the circus from her family lol
But Azula also stated that she was the daughter of a noblemen and that they both went to the same fire academy school. Backpacking off of your theory, I think that her family is mixed in a sense, where her father was fire nation and her mother was from an air nomad bloodline or visversa . They would have had to keep it a secret for years to protect their family
Or her mother never knew. There was a 150-170 year gap which equates to 4-5 generations. A secret like that would have been lost
@@jhedjoardumago7691 the war only went around for exactly 100 years but yeah. 4-5 generations is surprisingly long time
At most she’s a descendant. Her parents had to be fire nation nobles in order for her to attend that special school for royal kids where she met mei and Azusa. I can see one of the nomad refugees finding love in a fire nation noble and being the lone survivor (other than aang) until eventually their bloodline stopped producing benders. I’d like to think that it was some crazy tradition of parents telling their children to hide their air bending until it eventually died out
It was mentioned in the episode Ty Lee was introduced that she is the daughter of a noble.
Maybe it was just 1 parent then? And they or the couple hid their daughters' parentage to keep their position. The fighting style makes me think there was still some sort of cultural attachment.
It’s possible. I doubt her design choice was a mindless decision, if anything her resemblance of Aang was foreshadowing that she’d eventually turn on Azula. Her being related to air nomads is pretty interesting, I kind of want this to be canon.
some other people in the fire nation have grey eyes and brown hair so either ty lee is not an air nomad or everyone who looks like ty lee is descended from air nomads
Also she did a super jump to the tram-like thing when Sokka and Zuko were escaping from that prison, and azula had to use her firebending
"grey eyes" *proceeds to show us brown eyes*
That was weird that image had brown eyes especially in the show she does have grey eyes. So he wasn’t wrong, but whoever colored the image was wrong.
In the show, she has more greyish brown eyes. It’s easier to see in the frame of Ty Lee and Aang’s faces being compared.
It is called warm grey, cool gray is the most popular and it has blue as base instead the yellow or brown tint of the warm grey.
Both of their eyes sort of change from brown to grey at times. If you pay close attention, Aang does indeed have brown eyes in some shots and grey in others
some people's eyes can actually change colors
All correct except about the part of the parents. They were officials, daughter of a nobleman, that she grew up on palace grounds like Mai. Along with Azula, they studied Royal fire Academy for girls. Fun fact: Air Nun Rioshan was a master chi-blocker in the western temple, that taught her skills to Princess Zeisan of the Fire Nation.

Her parents and siblings were nobles within the Fire Nation. She went to a specific Fire Nation school with Azula and Mai. I don't think she joined the circus to hide. It make sense that she's a nonbending descendant of surviving Air Nomads.
My own sub-theory is that Kuzon was sympathetic because he was friends with Aang, and he was obviously conscripted into the Fire Nation military. My thinking is that he rose through the ranks while protecting Air Nomads and eventually became a noble through the generations. This gives Ty Lee a plausible reason for having Airbender-like features while also being high enough in the social ladder to be personal friends with the royal family.
Beautiful! 😍

@@alejandrapedroza14 I wonder if characters like Kuzon will be mentioned in the next series with the Earth Avatar.
@@dansattah I think that's gonna be pretty unlikely. Korra could have lived well into her 80s or older. This means the 1920s-ish setting of Korra would place the Earth Avatar in present day 2000s. This made me have an idea for a theory, Ty Lee & her family are from a line of airbenders that were in the fire nation when they started the war, but hid and throughout time some of them split up and in Korra they were reconnected to their ancestry, including Zaheer
This has been mildly confirmed in the Avatar tabletop RPG game. In the these games we are revealed that Sozin had a non-bender sister named Zeisan. Out of disgust for her brother she escaped to the Air Nation where she fell in love with a female air nomad.
There, the air nomads taught Zeisan to CHI BLOCK. Making Chi Blocking an air nomad technique. Ty Lee's family was either married off to the fire nation from slavery of some kind, or they hid their true identities and blended in as artists and acrobats.
Came here to say this, but to expand a little, Zeisan also has political marriage with a different air nomad, Khandro. Khandro's group, the Guiding Wind runs the Fire & Air center of learning, in the Fire Nation, where they teach Fire Nation nobility. Presumably, Zeisan and Khandro, and any children they have will stay in the Fire Nation as well, surrounded by that nobility, and this is likely where Ty Lee's family come from.
Remember her father was a nobleman, and she attended the Royal Fire Academy for Girls same as Azula and Mai, and was allowed on the palace grounds during their childhood. A distant relation to the crown, and a linegae of Fire Nation nobility, originating from Zeisan and the Fire & Air Center of Learning explains all that perfectly.
YES
@@ajb9854 oooouuu boy do I like this!
Yeahhhh, I wouldn't go off of that. That's definitely not part of the original intent of the show. Sounds like people playing around in someone else's world because they weren't good enough to create their own. That's why we have so much of stories being diluted by horrible writers like in the Witcher show, Rings of Power, and Star Wars sequel trilogy.
Just a bunch of people playing with things that they could never hope to create.
But that's not canon.
Avatar Kiyoshi's mother was a renegade air nomad. Part of her backstory is that when she gave up on the spirituality of being an air nomad, her Bending became weaker and she needed to use her fans to augment it.
The reason that the air nomads have such a 100% bending turnout with all births is confirmed to be because of the inherent spirituality of the people and the locations where they live.
if her parents or even grandparents were air nomads, and they had fled their temple, they likely would have very weak maybe even nonexistent bending from no longer living the spiritual lifestyle. And while she might inherit an easier understanding of Chi pathways from them, she likely lacks any bending potential. though I guess we would have to see her meditate and try to unlock it to know for certain.
Bending has always been tied to philosophy rather than physical ability. Air being the element of freedom doesn’t just mean being free-spirited, but actually free from worldly connection. It’s why Korra struggled with Air initially because her status as the Avatar made her feel like a caged bird. And why Zaheer got the hang it so quickly because of his anarchist beliefs.
To be fair, it's not like she needs it. Ty Lee is a freaking unit as she currently is.

There's a book about how she ran away from home and joined the circus, which is where she picked up a lot of her skills. Her eyes are also supposed to be a dull pinkish color. If she was alive when Korra reopened the gates, I would say she'd be an amazing air bender.
Would be funny if she got airbending and tenzin went to HER for tips. I am fully convinced Ty Lee would be as good an Airbender if not better if she was born in the same environment as Aang.
Ty Lee's parents may have been fire nation nobles. Her fighting style could be a result of her airbending ancestry.
I need this ty Lee as wallpaper , so cute
This one actually makes sense. I'm glad you clarified that she's an air "nomad", because i doubt she had any air bending, especially due to the name of the show; but it makes complete sense for her to be descended from said nomads.
The problem is, there's literally zero evidence in canon and all his points are wrong or irrelevant. Eye color? Her eyes are brown and people from the fire nation have basically every eye color except blue. Doesn't look like other Fire Nation? He showed Mai and a family. The Fire Nation is incredibly ethnically diverse. It'd be like saying someone doesn't look like an American because they had red hair. "Hiding in the circus?" She explicitly joined the circus because she wanted to be an individual, not part of a set. Does minimal harm? So does Mai and the Yuyan Archers. Means nothing. We don't know about her family? Actually we do, they're Fire Nation nobility. It's the entire reason she attended the same academy as Mai (also nobility) and Azula (royalty)
I wouldn’t mind if in Korra it was revealed that there were still airbenders alive that were living in hiding. It makes more sense than people randomly developing the ability to bend.
This is a solid theory if we also note that the harmonic convergence wouldn’t have just given out air bending powers and instead the hidden airbenders came out of hiding.
Probably the ones that did gain power were descendants of the air nomads
The base of this theory is built on starws from her appearance and the assumption air nomads escaped to the fire nation which would be ridiculous imagine in 1942 you're living in Russia your country and town get invaded completely taken over and your first thought is to go to Germany
@@Xerolyst An alternative could be that Ty Lee ancestors were in the fire nation from before Sozin. For example, maybe her air nomad great⁶ grandma married a fire nation gardener during the rule of Fire Lord Zoryu, when air nomads were appreciated everywhere. By the time Sozin came the descendants of that airbender would be just fire nationals with a peculiar eye color
@@Micaerys that could be the case but again it's a reach because the fire nation for hundreds of years have always been seen as the bad guy cause of their political views the fire nation was already bad even before sozin just like the way North Korea was before Kim Jong-un I just can't find a 100% valid reason why anyone would want to migrate an live a fulfilling life there
@@Xerolyst I wouldn't call them evil necessarily in the previous times, or at least the novels don't give that impression. And about motivations to go there... Maybe with Avatar Szeto, during his time he spent a lot of his time in the Fire Nation, so it's very likely that any friends and companions that he had from the Air Nation would live/visit there
I hope Ty Lee got to live long enough to become an airbender
Air nomads are hyuga’s in disguise
Not every nomad was lost in the ambush. Many dispersed and hid, having entire lives, and families in other lands. Hence why in Korra there were random people developing airbending. They were likely descendants of air nomads. My headcannon is that after the incident in Korra, Ty Lee was somewhere suddenly airbending cause it was fun
Bro Ty lee is probably dead now
@@jojo-nr5ir if that’s your logic then Katara, Zuko, and Toph should also be dead. Ty Lee is incredibly athletic (so are the rest of them as benders) so there is just as much chance for her to still be alive
Actually the random people was caused by the harmonic convergence not air nomad desendees
@@calebtoles3819 Why would Ty Lee, a major character in the avatar franchise who mind you turned to the good side be somewhere airbending and not come into play at least for a little in Korra? It just seems odd. Especially after gaining airbending abilities.
Pretty sure that new air benders were causw of what happen in S2
Ty Lee is my favorite character ever - right next to Toph - and I'm so happy people are noticing her more and more.
This has always been a theory of mine too. Not air nomad but at least somewhere down the line at least a descendant of one
Did anyone notice that when you switched the face it looked like the girl they got to play aang for the play?
“When you look at these people who are almost all RELATED, you can see how they all look similar!!”
Yeah, and on top of that the other fire nation citizens look similar as well, even Asami from the Korra has sharper features as well since she's obviously descended from fire benders. I honestly don't think you paid attention to the show's designs lol, or need to googke some non-fire lord related characters for a refresher
@@dooplon5083how is me pointing out that zuko, azula and ozai are related me not paying attention? 😭 It was just funny to me, I never said he’s wrong
@@n30n__ra1n I said "paying attention to the designs" not paying attention to the plot or characters lol, hence ne saying to Google some average firebender designs to refresh
Yeah but the nations in the ATLA universe DO have distinct ethnicities and cultures. She is very clearly not ethnically fire nation.
@@dooplon5083 Ah yes, Ogodei looks so much like Zuko. You clearly DO need to google fire nation characters if you forgot they're an extremely ethnically diverse people.
This has quickly become one of the biggest theories from Avatar ever
We came up with this theory in 2007 lol
If you look closely you throughout the show you can see that people from each nation have a specific eye color, like blue eyes for water benders, green for earth benders, brownish red for fire benders and, gray for air benders you can see that Ty Lee has gray eyes conforming she is part of the air nation
My headcannon is that she is somehow related to Avatar Roku's wife who was from the fire nation and had these same features. We don't see any other air nomads who look like Aang.
There's a theory going around that the next Avatar in the cycle always looks like the love interest of the previous Avatar which might explain Aang's features.
She's really one of the coolest characters created. I really like her attitude. Her aura.
She seems like a down to earth, friendly person. Also really good at fighting.
Also hot af
Realistically she wouldn’t be old enough to be the actual escaped air nomad it would’ve had to have been an ansestor
Therapist: Tyaang doesnt exist
Tyaang:
It's also possible she's descended from them. After all, she grew up in the fire nation with Zuko and Azula which we see in the flashbacks of their childhood.
I know he didn’t just say “my” when he was talking about Mai
...then how _is_ it pronounced?
@@OGEdgerit’s pronounced “Mae,” spelled “Mai.” It’s how they announce it in the show.
@@OGEdger Like the month, "May"
@@leewooboi Which is kind of incorrect. The name "Mai" is supposed to be pronounced as "my". The writers got it wrong.
Yeah I remember arguing about this when the show came out. All the anime fans were like “… that is not spelled that way, but okay. “
Bro you just legit confirmed an eye color that exist in a family
I mean its certainly a sign
@@thesysop4998 right right but like anyone can have a certain eye color but that dosent determine if they are a part of a region or not
That loop was TOOO good
Well its said in the animated version, by azula when she meets ty lee at the circus (if i’m not mistaken), that they went to the same school together at a prestigious school for girls and that her father is an aristocrat or some highly placed figure, but the theory still holds.
Everybody gangsta till matpat says “my” instead of ‘Mae’
Well that's how it's pronounced in southeast Asia. You know. Where the show is based off of.
@@Ducky_924 sure, but that’s not how to pronounce the Mae in the show’s name.
In the show they always say ‘Mae’ and not ‘My’. So the character’s name is clearly pronounced “Mae”
Also in a lot of ways, this show is not based off of Southeast Asia, The southern and northern water tribes are based off of Inuit culture, and a lot of people in the earth kingdom have way different skin tones from each other, and virtually everyone from the pre-war air nation is Caucasian, and many, many characters don’t have Asian names. It’s really not just Southeast Asia
So the show actually mimics the entire world rather than just south-east Asia
@@Lando_Calzonian_MK8 Yes, but the presence of varied cultures doesn’t necessarily mean its not based on Southeast Asia tho..
I feel like the show has clearly Asian folklore and mythology which has been extended to fit the whole world
The words Avatar, Agni, Chakra etc are Sanskrit in origin and concepts like Chi and Yin-Yang are, as you probably know, Chinese..
Like how in Percy Jackson the world has all kinds of people bt the gods are Greek..even tho different cultures still exist..
Im not saying that ATLA is exclusively Southasian bt is definitely has its roots .. Frankly i agree with your take.. I personally think the Earth Kingdom is Africa and India together because of the diversity and due to the fact that Bhumi means Earth in India
It's how you pronounce it in Mandarin, supposedly the name of origin. Japanese is the same. The accurate spelling would be "Mei" if that were the case. Kinda annoying to me that they mispronounced many of the names (examples can be Aang, Suki, Yue), the first time watching
@@tea3677 I dont think it was a mispronunciation.. They definitely knew how it should actually be if they researched that much about the culture and mythology
So the only two possibilities are
1: They chose to ignore the correct pronunciation because its an American show and uk...who cares.. Which i think is highly unlikely because the show puts in so much effort to showcase rich diversity and progressive sociopolitical outlook or
2: They made a deliberate choice to distance the show from the real world to avoid making it about any one culture and maybe accidentally showing wrong stereotypes.. Its always a sensitive topic when the West portrays Asian cultures
My head canon is that Ty Lee's children/grandchildren gained the ability to airbend after harmonic convergence
What is harmonic convengence ?
@@redstocat5455 did your watch legend of Korra season 2 finale?
I agree with this theory but one thing, in korra it is said that everyone from air nation is a bender
Ty lee took up my late night search history as a kid 😶🌫️
There was one woman in the Royal line that never had the ability to firebend. She left the fire nation and went to the air nation where she was taught by an air nomad the technique of chi blocking. That is where some fire nation fighters use chi blocking
Thats woman was Sozin's sister. She learned chi blocking from air temple and married air nomad.
@@kyelcorpuz8852what happened to her when the air nomad was wiped out?
Someone did their research!! I indeed wanted to comment this. It could be they developed a relationship and got ty lee and her sisters? But that is just a wild guess
@@iam.multicultural Oh that girl was a lesbian. She married a male air bender for publicity while an female air bender was her lover
@@iam.multicultural What would be more likely is they developed a relationship and then had a child that was Ty Lee's mother or father. Because there's multiple generations since the genocide of the Air Benders.
Tai Li's sisters all look like her as they are all identical twins. If I recall correctly (going for +2 points), she left her family because she wanted to be her own person and I'm pretty sure we saw her sisters in the comics.
You're correct hense why she joined the circus
Ok Now Avatar Can Continue The Airbenders💀💀
That would make sense plus what if her parents just didn't tell her she was an air nomad, or possibly her grandparents cause the start of the war was technically 100 years
It makes sense if she descended from them. However, something I've always found curious is: Iroh watched waterbenders to learn how to bend lightning. Who did TyLee watch to learn her skills? Surely the fire nation would've had a thing or two to say about if Air Bending movements were being used so blatantly?
Could be taught from her family, passed down knowledge and what not. And after a century it's unlikely most fire nation citizens knows what air bending looks like. Everyone would chalk it up to her being in the circus.
If you think about they think they're all dead. So as long as she isn't blowing a gust of wind while she does it, they probably wouldn't care. Never forget arrogance exists. Also if she learnt it second or third hand she may not be perfectly copying them. Just similar.
Your confidence is inspiring.
Well..... she DID kinda appearing in zuko's childhood stories
“They’re defensive”
Then there’s Yangchen
And Gyatso in the popular theory and the live action netflix avatar show airbenders
Actually there is a rather interesting explanation for this in the community, unofficially of course. So we know for a fact that prior to the 100 year war fire nation nobility took a great interest in air nation culture, so that probably where a fair bit of it comes from.
Minus the part about hiding in the fire nation I support this theory: it was 100 years ago that the fire nation attacked to air temples. So it’s possible her ancestors moved to the fire nation to hide away but after like a generation or two passed, she actually grew up believing she was fire nation. She mentioned in the show that she went to the circus to be different rather than to hide
in the episode where azula recruited ty lee, it obviously stated that ty lee came from the family of noble in fire nation. besides, the desecndants of air bender would 100% become a bender. so you cant find a desecndant of air bender which are not a bender
Theres also confirmed non benders who where “Air Nomads” like the Gru. Also the air nomads were very free spirit and not super isolationist despite living on mountain tops. There’s a real possibility that they married non benders or other benders and possible settlements on the coast of these island chains were possible.
