- After a year at USC Marshall, I decided to transfer to Cornell University! This video is my very honest documentation of both schools, the good and bad. Before starting college, I had no clue that people could transfer from one 4 year uni to the next. So, I made this video because it was something I wish I had seen & I'm hoping it will be helpful to someone out there. Thanks for watching!

Thank you. :) This video, especially the piece at the end about "don't sweat it", was really sweet and refreshing for my soul. You are kind, Shirin, and I so appreciate your video! Bless you. :)
great video shirin!
You are really good on camera. I didn't skip anything at all!
This video was super informative :)) ty
College of human ecology gave me a TO last year. Starting at Cornell in the fall and your video was helpful!
Super exciting, congrats!!
yo same but hotel
I’m going to Cornell because of you !!
hello shirin, that is great that you got into cornell in upstate new york. you will be catching the fall season when you start in the fall - it is the show of harvest out in the east. had a friend that went to usc as a law degree - came back to new york and was the measure of what is safe for internet usages. wishing you a good year in cornell - make sure you go apple picking up there - there is no more sand. elle for red leaf
hi! im currently a freshman in usc who got a tranfser option offer to cornell (starting sophomore year) so i was very glad that i found this video :) the transfer process has been very frustrating since cornell requires students like me to take courses that they decide. plus almost everyone around me are telling me that i will not like cornell due to location/weather compared to usc but looking at your video, i truly think i would be able to make valuable experiences at cornell if i transfer !!! thanks again for the insightful video hehee
Thanks for the note! Feel free to message with any questions :)
YAY shirin ❤
this reminded me of my favorite vlogger gary phan, but he just went off the rails the other week so i think this will be my new favorite vlog channel
HUH
😂
Whaaaat happened to Gary?
My idol!!! 🎉🎉🎉
wow I'm an engineering student at Cornell. I considered usc with cornell in high school. Congrats!!
Yes, I am transferring out of the University of Hawaii, West-Oahu to SANS Technology Institute for a bachelor’s in cybersecurity. Cheers!
Congratulations! All the best at your new university!
I just subcribed to your channel. Have a nice weekend girl ❤
Is the beach Corona Del Mar?
So fire
LETS GOOOO
I transferred from a four year to four year too! I transferred from sdsu to usc and uts def a diff experience than transferring from a cc
The wait is over
👏👏👏
do you mind sharing your stats and ex's?
Well, you missed out of the Trojan family ✌️😎. Fight on!
I got wait-listed at Cornell in '86. Can't decide if my chances would have been better or worse today.
6 minutes in and she hasn't said a thing. good luck. and God help us.
Cornell's 86 acceptance rate was 29%. Now, it's less than 10%.
Definitely worst. All schools are infinitely more competitive than they were just ten years ago!

Hello! Cornell Dyson has also been my dream school for so long. Can I get in contact with you? I'd love some advising as I'll be a current freshman this fall also looking to transfer into Dyson! Would be a dream come true!!
Exciting to hear!! Happy to, feel free to message the Instagram linked on this channel - shirindinasan :)
@@ShirinDinasan Done!!
Do you recommend transferring junior or sophomore
A majority of Cornell transfers are sophomores. However, I think that is pretty specific to Cornell :)
No way Dyson’s acceptance rate is lower than Wharton’s… Cornell isn’t an M7.
She relied of Poets&Quants which is a joke ranking.
Unless Cornell offered a full free ride, I’d stay put at SC
Figure out a way to get into the Hotel Management Program (number one in the entire world) and you can work in any city in any country for any chain you choose.
The hotel school is great! Some of the coolest/most unique classes I've ever seen.
@@ShirinDinasan Better than any MBA. Higher distinction. (Besides an MBA was designed for non business majors to get exposed to management strategy and be introduced to Econ, Finance, and Accounting a little bit. You won’t need that.) If you get the opportunity grab it.
Then 12 years from now open your own boutique hotel in Bali or Bora Bora or Palawan and live the dream.
So go from the most competitive undergrad college at Cornell, which is Dyson, and go to the least competitive one at Cornell, which is Nolan Hotel School? Um, that would make no sense, in addition to being impossible to do as Cornell won't allow transfers to change undergrad schools.
@@sekenaamin9220 No, I meant after graduation. It’s why I said it would be a better alternative to an MBA if you already have a business degree from a great program.
Doubt she will do that. She pretty much trashed Dyson and Cornell and laments her transfer. Cornell should kick her back to lowly USC!
USC is a great campus, enjoy the snow 😂
I went to Cornell Hotel School and graduated in 2001. I had a great time there but I think college in LA would have been a lot more fun.
Were you never actually a student on campus at USC?
Nice girl ❤
i would go to usc over cornell any day lol
But Cornell is “gorgeous.”
(insider Ithaca, NY joke)
USC > Cornell
Cornell is the easiest IVY league to get into. Trojan alumni network is second to none!
@@moisesojeda1085 I don’t suppose you work either on Wall Street, in Silicon Valley, nor London.
@@kevinkaspThose are such random places to name lol. Not everyone wants some cutthroat job just to make their Tiger parents happy. I went to Davis and work in Silicon Valley. Half my coworkers are from CSU’s and UC’s, the other half are Berkeley, and a minority Stanford.
@@jasonhondakker9231 London and NYC are “random” places? They happen to be the leading corporate, financial, and legal centers on the planet.
And in those circles as well as the rest of the world an Ivy League vs the other Los Angeles school where Hollywood sends their kids, is a no-brainer. They look at the QS World Rankings of Universities and see Cornell at #13 in the world, whereas USC doesn’t show up anywhere in the top 100.
But my original post was simply a “Way to go, girl”, for getting in to Cornell, not a drag on USC, which is a great school - my father did his Post Doc there.
Ithaca is cold. ;)
100%. It's freezing!
Where Northwestern and the University of Chicago are is colder.
Definitely taken with a grain of salt on that ranking. No way USC business is #1, undergrad or grad. Ahead of Wharton?! Cal is not even on there?
Bad choice
If you want a real top business school you should have applied to either Wharton or Haas. Marshall and Dyson are both joke programs.
