    Thank you so much. I bought my new machine today at an unbelievable price from Singer with a 15 year extended warranty , free next day delivery and a free gift! I had spent a long time trying to choose a machine. About 80 hours, all in all! It was your post, this one, that made me decide in the end. So thank you for all the info and trouble shooting tips. I can't wait until tomorrow, I've got butterflies I am so excited! Please keep as many vids about this machine coming. I'm going to need all the help I can get.

    Thanks so much on your informative video. I bought my wife this machine for Christmas and was able to figured the machine out in just a couple of hours. Embroidering is new to both of us. This video assisted us and made it work perfectly. Very happy with the machine so far. I did have to use the net around the spool of thread as it did make a difference maintaining the correct slack of the embroidering thread due to it's cone shaped configuration. The thread kept winding around the spool rod therefore tightening and causing a thread breakage. I read all of the comments below and appreciated your informative responses as well. Even the useless "hard to follow your accent " one..LOL - Thanks again

    @MnMsMom123 Před 9 lety +7

    Becky, I have found that when it says the thread is broke, when it is still intact it is because I'd threaded the machine while the presser foot was down, not allowing the thread to engage properly into the tension control. The quickest/easiest way I found ot correct it is to just gently tug on the thread, by the spool, pulling it just slightly back out and you should feel/hear it almost 'click' into place.

    Thank you so much for this! I have had my machine a few years now, and have just been using it for a sewing machine. i decided it was time to use the embroidery part of it. (I have the Futura xl 580) I found that I had no idea how to use this! So I went in search of how to use it, and couldn't find much on it. All they told you was how to use the software, how to put in the fabric in the hoop, etc. But I needed to see someone do something start to finish, what to push etc. Thank you so much, this was the video I needed!!! Hope to be embroidering soon!

    HI Becky, There is a little cap that you can put on top of the spool of thread, have you tried using it, and if you do check it isn't too tight a fit causing the spool of thread to 'snag', It could be the needle is not sharp enough or that it is the incorrect size for the fabric you are using. Of course the stabilizer may not be tight enough in the hoop. Good luck and hope this helps, Jan

    Wow the difference from you video from 2013. You have learned so much. This is an excellent video. I pull very little on the fabric. I want it relaxed. In fact I hoop ver little most use a tacky stabilizer. You are so right to stitch at the slower speed. Never go above half speed. I have 3 machines from different companies. I love how the Singer stitches out. The same design on anther machine looks different. Not everything but lots.

    I have had my machine for three years now, and have made many, many projects; however, my machine is now sending me an error message when I start it to begin embroidering or doing an applique. The machine stops after making the anchor stitch, and gives me the following error message: "The machine is locked up due to thread entangled with bobbin case or rotation interrupted forcibly. Turn off power switch and eliminate the problem that caused the machine to stop. Please try to correct the problem to continue." Additionally, there is a picture of the Handle Wheel with a large "X" over the Handle Wheel. I have done everything in my power to figure out what I'm doing wrong. I know that it isn't the machine, because I borrowed my mom's machine (she has the exact same one), and I get the same error message with hers. I'm so frustrated, because it's not like I'm a novice with using this machine....or even sewing in general. I have several projects that I need to get completed, but am not able to do so, because of this issue. PLEASE! I REALLY, REALLY NEED SOMEONE'S HELP WITH THIS, AND i CAN'T GET IN CONTACT WITH ANYONE FROM SINGER TO HELP ME. I AM BEYOND FRUSTRATED!!! :( By-the-way, I really enjoyed your video. It was very informative, and I even redid everything with the machine that you demonstrated, hoping that maybe it was something very simple that I had just inadvertently missed, but NOTHING worked.....HELP!

    I am so confused. I purchased a different brand with so many great reviews. The first one wouldn't turn on and the second one broke a needle on the first project and the hole where the needle goes was damaged so it too departed. Now I am once again researching.

      +Flying Lady 76 HI there, I think I have managed to overcome many of the problems with this machine, but it is very temperamental. Maybe it is the nature of embroidering that means the needles break, the thread breaks the stabalizer is wrong, the tension is not tight enough and so on. If you want an embroidery machine then maybe see if you can go to an outlet and try some it would give you a better idea if they are any good. I do not think that I would buy this one again, but I think I do not get enough out of embroidering to make me persevere. Get in touch if you fancy buying mine! Good luck!! Jan

    I have a few questions:
    So, the bobbin thread does not have to be the same color as the embroidery thread that will show on the top, is this correct?
    Is white typically the go to thread for the bobbin?
    Does it tend to be personal preference or is white used to blend in better with the color of the bib or possibly the color of the stabilizer?
    Thanks so much for this tutorial/review!

      Hi Debora, The bobbin thread does not have to be the same colour as the top thread, you are correct. White is cheaper to buy and it does not show. Only when it moves in a certain direction thread becomes tight and needle will hit the foot and(sometimes) break. Is it just the tension? Hi Jan, thanks for replying. We had watched your video before we started and used bobbinfil and stabiliser. We used a high quality thread but we are still having major issues. Sometimes the top thread becomes so tight the machine thinks the thread has snapped and stops. When we change colour 80% of the time as soon as the machine starts to sew the next block it will just start to nest under the material and sometimes gets stuck in the machine where the bobbin is - I think we may just send the machine back! Thanks Sue

      Aaron Bannister Hi Aaron, No I can't say that I have, however my first thought was to adjust the tension and you have done that so maybe the stabiliser is incorrect? Maybe causing the needle to stick? You could try another thickness. Does it happen on specific fabrics say like satin then it could be slipping a little. Also have you got the correct needle size in or is the needle a little blunt? The biggest improvement I found with using this machine was making sure the fabric and stabiliser are very tight in the hoop as you have probably already seen in the video. The fabric needs to be very tight in the hoop but not too tight that it stretches the fabric or design!! Good luck Jan

    What size needle do you use for diff fabrics? My needles continuously break.

    • @dereton33
      @dereton33  Před 9 lety

      Terri Huddleston hi Terri, you need an 11 for chiffon etc 14 for flannel, muslin, linen, corduroy etc, 16 for denim, stretchy fabrics, 11 for knits. You may like to take a look at the tension as the needles shouldn't keep breaking, more they would 'snag' the fabric. Good luck. jan

    I see that you are in the UK. Everything I've read on this machine says that it uses 110v and cannot be used with a voltage converter. Is your machine operating on a converter or is it a 240v version?

    Thanks for your advice! I started embroidering today and could really use your help! I broke 3 needles today any advice? Do I need to use different needles for embroidery vs sewing?

    • @dereton33
      @dereton33  Před 8 lety

      Hi Erika, no not usually, however you still need to consider the material that you are using and the stabiliser, ie, the thickness, how springy the material is, the weave etc., and adjust the needle size accordingly just as you would when you sew normally on the machine. Also I try and ensure that the work is really pulled tight in the hoop as this makes it less springy. Maybe worth trying a very find needle say a 60 or 70, to see if this makes any difference. I can feel your frustration, so good luck!! Thanks for watching. Jan
