So for those who don't know Primal Groudon has a ability called Desolate Land. This ability summons a unique weather effect called Extremely Harsh Sunlight. It works similar to the Sunny Day effect you know with 3 differences.
1: This weather can only be swapped out by Heavy Rain from Primal Kyogre or Strong Winds from Mega Rayquaza.
2: This weather won't last 5 turns, it lasts while Primal Groudon is on the field
3: instead of weaken Water Type moves, it NULLIFIES them!
In other words: a drought
Hence the use of Grass and Ice to defeat him later on

A shame Groudon never got solar blade.
Solar blade is legit just physical solar beam, except 5 extra base power, because physical attackers deserved a treat.

@@AnnieC.1993I mean, i used to run Solar Beam on my Groudon when i played Pokémon Ultra-Sun. Don't forget it has 150 base special attack, which is the same as Reshiram. It can totally be played both special and physical attacker and the same goes for Kyogre, who can learn Earthquake (though, it doesn't need it much).

I will admit, in the original games, they could've done so much more in Sootopolis. Instead of giving Groudon just a small little island, they could've made half of lake dry with molten cracks and with the weather changing the water could've been pushed back and forth.
They could’ve met on a coast line that that was plagued by the heat on the land and raining over the ocean. Groudon got set up in Emerald little ass pebble they gave bro

@@Orion582I agree, Kyogre thought he had the advantage but if Rayquaza hadn't intervene groudon would have open a hole all the way to magma and destroy the sea.

If normal groundon is stuck on a small island of land because of kyorge, What makes you think he would be able to make more land under heavy rain created by primal kyogre?
The moment he steps off that island, he is going to sink.
@@chasetanner4822 since Desolate Land appears everywhere Groudon shows up id guess he evaporates every water hes near,and since he can learn Solar Beam and it apparently uses the power of the sun and comes out of Groudon himself he probably could dive underwater while evaporating it

Funfact,unlike in battles, primordial sea and desolate land canonically dont cancel each other out, they are so strong that while other fire and water are useless,they can still fight

@@PokeMasrerJ This is Primal so 150 vs 180 isn't that bad especially for a super effective hit and that's its only coverage move unless you count bulldoze. Probably a good thing that it can't learn Earth Power :P
