This reminds me of this athaar:
‘Abd-Allaah ibn Maghfal reported that there was a woman who was a prostitute during the days of ignorance (before Islam).
A man passed by her, or she passed by him, and he touched her body.
She said: Stop it! Allaah has done away with polytheism and has brought Islam!
So he left her alone and went away.

Baraku Allahu fikum. Excellent reminders. Please keep them coming, especially at a time where the Ummah is in great need, and learned men are dying.
My reminder to us is: the “what do you people”
If you are new to someone or getting to know them or there is an essential need then I believe it’s ok to say “what do you do” or “what do you do now”.
Hate such questions when they are of no benefit to you what I do.
Rather you should ask a person how they are, their well being, family and Deen, if they’re married now or where they moved to etc.
Especially those before they ask such respectful questions above, straight away “what do you do now”. Like, it shows you have no concern for me. They generally ask to see if you are better than their kids and to obviously say “so and so is just at home” or the like.
Why does one need to know what I do now? I can understand asking if one is married or not but asking what they do unnecessarily shows how you are a person of the Dunya. Plus why do you care where I get my sustenance from, or how much is in my pocket, because of such questions.
They just wanna feel good about their families. Best thing here is to not answer that question and move on. If you were to say unemployed they would look down upon you and if you say a good career you’ll see them light up.
They are insincere majority of them and unfortunately we have adopted the Love of Dunya syndrome that the kufar have.
Majority don’t even start with Salamu alaykum, subhana Allah let’s please change this attitude. What a person’s livelihood is of no concern and not a priority to ask.
