  • Hello everyone in todays video for Microsoft flight simulator 2020 we are going over all the settings to get the best performance and graphic quality possible. First we will go over 7 windows settings for better performance (this is for windows 10 as I do not own windows 11 so i can't make videos on something I don't have) i also did a ultimate windows guide the link is below. Here we go over the islc program, msconfig, hpet , power settings and virtual memory. Next we go over all of the Nvidia control panel settings and i explain most of the settings here. I also have a tip on resizable bar . Then we access the msfs cfg file to make a few changes in there . Finally hop into the sim and go over all the in sim settings and a couple more tips along the way. I also go over 2 applications that can greatly help with the ai traffic handling Aiground and AIflow links below. This video is long and packed with info so use the chapter section below so you can skip over things that you may have seen before. I also have several more in depth videos below that I talk about in this video . I really hope this helps you boost performance inside Msfs and gets you better game play. If you have any questions please leave a comment below and like share and sub to the channel for more videos like this! Thanks for Watching!

    I really like this guide. Perfect regarding presentation and pronounciation clarity, absolutely understandable for non-native speakers. I followed it to the end. To begin with, stuttering prevailed, but simply deleting the rollingcache did the trick for me. Otherwise, I have been a bit careful regarding In Sim settings - I followed the recommendations. The results are stunning. Thanks for the work.

    Wow, I always like your excellent videos on MSFS performance - so much to learn. But sometimes it's not 100% clear what setting to set if you're just playing without VR. Can't wait for the AIFlow/AIGround vids...

    • @2020fsers
      @2020fsers  Před rokem +1

      Thanks for the comment. The aiflow and ground videos are finished links should be in the description. The reason it may seem unclear for settings is because there really is no perfect setting for everyone so now I try to more less explain what you could expect from a setting so if you have issues it can help you solve a problem with fps stutters things like that . I found in the past when I say to set something to a certain setting I get backlash from that so unless it's a feature like hags and I can positively say keep it off then I usually won't anymore. But if you have questions please ask because I have talked to many people with different systems and specs that I may be able to answer a question even if it's something I don't have .

    Well done and well presented. I did everything here and also a clean uninstall and install of my GPU driver as per your other video. I have a GTX1660 Super with Ryzen 5 / 3600 , 32 GB ram and a 500 GB SSD with a 2TB HD , so it is a low to mid-range by today's standards . However I must say stutters have reduced greatly ( not eliminated completely) but 90% reduced . My windows and browser are very "snappy" now . Most in sim settings are set high / ultra . I capped my frame rate at 30, and usually get 27-30 fps running. Even JFK runs over 22, which I never had. Keep up the good work my friend. Enjoy the blue skies ! Ted

    Very informative and helpful. I doubled and in some cases tripled my FPS rates while taxiing in dense airports such as KLAX, where I was averaging about 17=25 FPS with a lot stutters, even with my i9 9900K, 64 GB DDR4 RAM, GTX-1080-ti 13 GB GPU, MSFS installed on its own NVME 2.0 1 TB SSDI storage device, and Windows 10 Pro installed on its own separate 500 GB SSDI. Now I'm averaging about 45-60 FPS with no stutters. I was also averaging about 25-35 FPS while flying at low altitudes over dense areas such as Los Angeles, and the average improved to 45-60 FPS. I'm not sure which setting changes helped, but I'm still running at 120 HZ refresh rate on my Sony 49" TV.

I followed your instructions step by step although i couldn't get the Intelligent standby list cleaner to work as it kept coming up with an error saying my timing was turned off. Anyway, after doing all your tweaks plus a couple of my own to fine tune my system I'm cranking 48 - 50FPS. Smooth as butter and so much clearer. I am using open XR Toolkit as well to tweak the colours and brightness, contrast etc. plus a bit of foveated rendering. So, thanks very much mate and have a great Christmas.

      @@2020fsers I have a HP G2, systemwise I am CPU limited (i7) GPU is a 3090, I have tinkered a LOT with VR settings, a game changer was the trick of using DLSS on performance with supersampling the resolution of the G2 to 3900, all done in OpenXR Toolkit, and additionally FOV on quality. I have most in game settings on high, with your performance tutorial I get between 42-54fps and it’s buttery smooth

      In all it is close and it gives me much higher fps (about 10fps more) I really don’t like vr below 40fps and I’d rather loose a bit of clarity….for the extra smoothness. Anyway looking forward to your guide

    May the Gods bless you, my son. 🤗You have saved my sanity!
    I've only had my [so called and rather expensive] game PC and HP reverb G2 headset for about four months but I've had a lot of trouble trying to get some stability in the Microsoft Flight Simulator. I love flying in VR but up to now my experience has been somewhat poor. The G2 headset wasn't very clear, and the micro stutters was making my eyes blurry and my head ache. After following your videos and making the necessary hacks I'm happy to say that the system is running very much better and I'm getting 30 to 35 fps consistently. But more importantly, I'm experiencing a fairly clear smooth ride I'm starting to see what can be possible in VR. I did notice that you have overclocked all your cores to run at 5.1 gigahertz. I suspect that makes quite a difference to your FPS and wonder if you could make a video on that subject?
    Please keep making your videos on these important subjects to help us all out. I will contribute what I can when I can. Here are the specs of my system. Cheers for now. Laz77

      I have tested for a good hour now, and the sim has never looked better🙂 Still I have the occasional microstutter, but they are few and far between. I see that at least MY system seems to benefit from adding pre-rendered frames in Nvidia Control Panel, so that is now on max (4). I have also probably grown too accustomed to the color grading, so all of a sudden I thought the sim to look a bit too washed out...LMAO I have actually re-enabled color grading and sharpening in the .cfg file. Because of this uplift I was able to crank my ingame settings even a bit higher than before, obviously, and it now looks absolutely great. My system is i9-11900kf OC to 5Ghz and 3080 Ti. I've been working on trying to improve my G2 performance and clarity for months, following a variety of different recommendations. Until yesterday, I was moderately CPU-bound, with typical CPU frametimes in the mid-to-high 20s, and always 2-3 milliseconds higher than my GPU frametimes. By following your suggestions, I've reduced my typical CPU frametimes to the high teens, which gave me enough headroom to raise my traffic and LOD settings. In addition, I have no more stutters. I've also been able to increase the OpenXR render scale to 120 (with sim and OpenXR Toolkit at 100/100. This has greatly increased the clarity for me. (I have an astigmatism, so VR lenses, though an improvement, can't quite get things clear enough for me to enjoy). Using DLSS Quality and turning off AMD sharpening in the sim has eliminated all shimmering for me. Net net, this is the best my sim has ever looked in VR, and is a sheer pleasure to use. You sir, are a golden god. Thank you!

    Really a great video. My sincere Congratulations. Not only is it needed to play Fs2020 but to lighten and speed up the PC, especially if done from a clean installation like mine.
    I state that I have an i9-9900k, Z-390-f, 32 gb 3200, gpu 3080 ti 12 gb. Let's say similar to your setup.
    I followed your guide step by step, even if I had already done some things, but to improve the speed of the win 10 system not for fs2020, the rest I didn't know and I followed your precious suggestions, so you deserve to be rewarded for your efforts, as long as I can I will be a subscriber.
    There are only a couple of things that unfortunately do not convince me.
    1- When I fly it gives me Limited By Main Tread and Limitato by RDRtread, I think the i9-9900k is not enough, especially coupled to a 3080ti oc, otherwise I don't know what it could be if you can give me a further suggestion
    2- I have a vague feeling that the Virtual desktop I use for VR is a limit, even if I haven't used VR for months and above all never used it after the clean installation in December 2022. Installed and left there,,,I say this because I read on reddit, it seems to me that a program called citrex, even if in standby, was a limit for FPS,,, but obviously I don't know specifically,
    Anyway, thank you in advance for your precious advice and for your kind reply

    Thanks for all your great graphics/performance guides. I have been following you and using your guides for the last few SU versions. I'm struggling with a few things and thought you might have some suggestions. First, I notice a soft glow or soft edges around the edges of the aircraft. Seems more exaggerated in overcast/foggy weather conditions. Second, for example, using Gatwick from Fsim.to, I notice very dark 'blocky' textures on the building windows in similar weather conditions. If I turn off live weather and have clear skies on, looks fine. See the same in all sceneries, just seems more noticeable at Gatwick. 1440p/3080ti/5800x3D FWIW. Thanks for the great content!

    • @2020fsers

      Hey thanks for the comment . The soft glow thing , have you tried to turn off fringe in the cfg file? That may help. If it's off turn I on and see what you have. 2nd in gatwick have you removed the scenery and tried it again if not try that and see what you have if it normal than maybe it's the scenery if not and still the same it's not the scenery so you can at least remove that variable .

    • @2020fsers

    I always look forward to these videos. Thank you so much! I followed everything to a T in the past from other videos. My issue is usually always be sync on in the sim Lock that 30, or unlock the frames and have V-Sync on a control panel and not in the sim... For example my frames are around 45 area and my refresh rate is at 60 or I can change it to 75. However my monitor has AMD FreeSync, but I always seem to have issues with G-Sync enabled and tearing. Yes the panning with my track IR is smoother at 75 frames, however my SIM cant usually achieve 75 frames on the ground, so the frames are much lower around 45 or so So there's always these micro stutters when panning around

    Well done. Reverb G2 user with RTX 3090 i9 o/c 4.8 Ghz. Can you do a video on overclocking for MSFS? I know in the BIOS there is an XML memory option (enable/disable), do you recommend enabling or not? Also, I found when I went back to factory settings (3.7Ghz) on CPU, that I got huge FPS decrease and stutters in MSFS. Dell did a factory overclock (30%) and I did one via the Alienware command center to 5.0Ghz. I know the conventional wisdom is "MSFS doesn't like overclocked CPUs/GPUs" but I'm not convinced. Can you do a video that addresses this issue? Thanks so much.

      @2020fsers  Před rokem

      Hey thanks for the comment .. yes I have done a video on gpu overclocking czcams.com/video/I4jAQ4gMY9I/video.html. So msfs doesn't get along with overclocking but it definitely likes it hope that makes sense. Yes turn on xmp mode in the bios that will allow the memory to run at a faster speed reducing stutters.

    you need to turn off vertical sync if you plan on using external avionic panels such as a g1000 etc.. If you leave it on, your frame rates will tank as soon as you drag your avionics onto those panels.

    Is it really necessary to change those power settings? Don't those settings mostly effect the computer when idle? I too used to set my power settings to "high performance", but eventually realized that my GPU was always running at max speed (both with v-ram and gpu), and even though it had no load, my video card would never drop below 50C. In "balanced" mode, my GPU's (3090) temp goes down to room temperature when idle. In any case, I can't tell the difference in the simulator performance between generic "balanced" power plan and the "high performance" with tweaks. Perhaps these settings really only affect laptops running on batteries?--I dunno. Anyway, I always appreciate the great work you put into your videos! You definitely put in a lot more production effort and more detailed explanations than most msfs guides/channels on CZcams!

    • @2020fsers

      Thanks for the comment ... I only use the high power setting when I am siming when I am not I use balanced I also use process lasso to control all of that I will do a video on that soon.
