Each sword has it's own characteristics and depends on the user. A curve blade will always be superior at cutting and slashing but won't be as good when piercing. An European long sword for example will always be better at stabbing and dealing a good punch when dealing brute force attacks

Old turk warriors were known for being fast and agile in combat and this sword fits their fighting style perfectly they usually wore light armor usually made of leather and had a small shield on the off hand for parrying and bloxking incoming attacks being able to handle such sword single handedly is simply amazing

Not everything has to be a fantasy/scifi version of a longsword or a katana 😆 Best positive example I can think of is Sir Terry Pratchett in his Dark Side of the Sun books had a type of scifi monomolecular sword called shamshir. They were pretty cool, even if they were anachronistic even in universe, and got used appropriately for that.
