You're welcome - I am glad it helped!
Wow - I consider myself a fairly advanced guitarist, but this lesson opened my eyes (and ears) to lots of stuff that I had wrong. B to B/A to G? I thought it was B-A-G. Oops. And the Dsus2? MIssed that one too. Thanks so much for your great ear and help on my favorite George song.

Great tutorial brother! This probably my favorite song ever. Love the message. What kind of guitar are you playing? Thank you
Hi Jerome, thanks for watching. Yeah, I love this song too. Great track. The guitar is a mini Maton. An Australian brand. I have a full review/demo of the guitar here on the channel. Check it out. All the best Simon
the chord changes in this song are simply breathtaking. I play this song a lot, but I still don't fully understand how G and D chords fit into this song which appears to be in the key of E / C#m. How on earth does it work so well?!
That is a great question. The G7 is a bit of a mystery, the only note in that chord that's in key is the B and the G D and F are out of key. It makes the G#m sound sweeter when you get to it though. The Dsus2 is a bit clearer as it has the E and A in it and so is closer to the key. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching, Simon
@@SimonMorelguitar Thanks so much for the reply. That makes more sense to me now: the more diatonic notes in a chord (even if that chord itself is non-diatonic) makes it fit. And yeah maybe because the G is the chromatic note between F# and G# it creates an awesome amount of tension which builds when he moves to G#m- Whatever it is, its bloody awesome and I'll never get tired of playing it!
Even in the chorus when he plays a D natural chord - he's singing an A. It works so well to create this uplift.
@@mattd8325 He's a genius for sure. With keys and songs I always think it's best to imagine picking up all the chords and shaking the notes out of them. Then Hey presto, you have your scale. Thanks for watching. See you again! Sub for weekly videos. Cheers Simon
Simon, do you know the song Midnight Blue by Lou Gramm?
Hey Gav, how are you mate? Thanks for the note - sorry I don't know that tune. I'll put it on the list - of course you can request it over at www.patreon.com/simonmorel to move it up the schedule. Cheers Simon
