Mazda actually considered this combination anyway and even made a prototype but when for the cheaper, lighter and simpler 4 banger. After all mazda were trying to replicate British roadsters, just reliably. In all honesty its one of the beat swaps you can do to a miata for power, total mass and weight distribution.
