I once ran a passenger/tour boat on San Diego bay as captain. One night while approaching a harbor at Coronado I saw two little objects in the water before me. I put my boat in full reverse to stop. Then was surrounded by people in RIBs yelling at me to stop. Not using the radio. And I had already stopped. There were two SEALs who became separated from their escorts in the channel. I was glad that I had missed them and do support them. They have very dangerous and tough training and missions to go through. God bless and protect them.

The day I told her I re-enlisted was the end. She filed for divorce papers the next day. It’s just how it. Think about what you want to be married to.

Gotta have a ton of respect for those wives that keep everything running on the home front, taking care of kids and/or working etc as well! A type AAA meat eating men gravitate towards the work and military duty more naturally then the women do and I'm going on just my experience being raised in the Army during the Vietnam Era and those 13 or 18 month tours of duty the regular Army typically deployed for then was plenty more difficult for mom dealing with 4 of us kids where I was oldest and brother the 2nd oldest of 4 so I remember our fights bringing out the distant (but adding up over the months) threats of "your dad's going to beat your a$$e$ when he gets home!!! Not that mom wasn't fully capable of kicking our butts, but a person gets tired eventually 😉 I tell you what though, when dad finally got home all we cared about was thank God he made it!! Even if it was going to bring on some lessons to apply to our future growth into life, work and the responsibilities growing up would bring and he raised us kids right!!!
SEAL Team wives must be the best of all worlds!!!

I was once in very cold water in northern Washington. It hurt to use my hands and walk on the beach. Cold water can kill if not taken seriously and addressed. I was born with " good Wranglers" & learned to swim like a fish on Long Island Sound & Atlantic Ocean. Learned SCUBA 13-14 from a former WW2 & Korean " conflict" USN UDT Commander trained at Ft.Pierce, Fla. He always carried a razor sharp K- Bar, often concealed. I was a Loyd Bridges " Sea Hunt" fan. Summer I wore a neoprene jacket, winter full wet suit. I was a SPORT DIVER & could swim for miles with neoprene, fins, mask & snorkel. 1965 I joined North Hollywood, Ca. to avoid being drafted out of Pierce Jr. College into the Army & Vietnam. My mother's brother taught me how to swim & he learned from a good friend of my M.D. Surgeon grandfather, Jonny Wiessmuller in Chicago. I had learned quite a bit about diving accidents, lung embolisms, " bends", water aspiration, etc. While going thru 1966 Fleet Marine Force - Field Medical School Training at Camp DelMar, Ca. a Navy Chief asked me if I wanted to be a " 🐸 frogman." I was in for 2 yrs. active duty & was told had to be in for 4 to 6 years. I checked out Coronado " BUDS" & figured good chance of getting killed or really Fd up just training. Sorry Charlie I was already a " 🐸 man" but became " chicken of the sea". Thanks but NO THANKS I loved being a sport diver. Of course they extended my ass & sent me to Nam as Hm3 - USMC grunt Corpsman. I was wounded & partially paralyzed for several days & sent back out in bush with retained grenade shrapnel in C-5 vertebrae 6 weeks later from Hosp. Ship Repose. Soon after I was choppered into Laos with 20 Marines on a " Sparrow Hawk" later learned what SF- SOG called a " bright light" at which time I smashed my left knee cap jumping out of the way of a Husky med evac helicopter got shot down by NVA .51 machine gun. We were on top of a NVA regimental compound after they scurried down into their tunnels. A 1 Sky Raiders saved our ass !!! I managed to perceiver completing my one year tour of duty. My replacement Hm3 Wayne Maurice Caron was KIA 2 weeks after arrival in the same area I was WIA, he recieved a Posthumous Medal of Honor trying to save 16 Marines. Took me 30 years for the V.A. to get service connection & Comp. for the retained C-5 shrapnel. Point of the story is if you are afraid of death don't become a Navy Seal ( 🐸 Frog man) or FMF Navy Corpsman.

I wanted to join the Marines during the early years of GWOT, but couldn’t because of an endocrine issue. That didn’t stop me from living my life pushing myself and getting after it! In 2013 I had the chance to run the marathon at Camp Pendleton as a civie. It was 105F and I tore my IT Band half way through the race. It felt like a knife slicing my knee with every step I took. But I didn’t quit! I was still ahead of a recon marine and wasn’t gonna lose to him. Damn near finished the race in tears, but I made to the finish line. I know that this pales in comparison to what folks go through in the special operations community. No matter how hard things get just embrace the suck and get after it!

class Bud/s 96 grad here. Instructors caught one guy who smeared vasoline on his body before a strand swim. So, they picked 2 of the bigger guys including myself to swim 2 mile without tops. This is (same distance for runs back and forth to equal 4 mile run). This was in phase 1 October. Rather chilly but refreshing.
We did closed circuit and semi closed underwater swims in the bay and also from the strand off shore. We also after Bud/s did SDV night raids on the vessels parked across the bay. As a pilot, I walked it up and under one ship. It was cool

We host an increasing number of US Marines each year and AFAIK they do landing drills but no sane person here goes in the water voluntarily. No comparison but agree. Grew up in Olympia swimming in Puget Sound. High 40’s to low 50’s. SD water is cold too. The bay in SD is nasty and cold. I’m curious about steel pier. Hey jake really love your channel. just a tip for your audio to not sound echoey because your talking in a room. Hang a few towels all around you just outside of the camera view. Makes a huge difference. There are other routes like sound deadening. but towels are the eazy and cheap way to do it. So you can take them down after filming. Cheers

You can easily get hypothermia for an hour in 80 degree water. Now give 53F water a try, you have to relearn how to breathe to just take a plunge. I am a competitive masters swimmer and in a heated pool can probably outswim most of those kids, but if I had to do that evolution I probably wouldn't last 500 yards before my body would start to shut down.
