I knew someone that for some reason just reached a breaking point in third phase and basically just got so pissed off he wanted to DOR, and as soon as he started heading from the surf to the beach to go DOR, the instructors called the whole class up to end the evolution and he got lost in the crowd and the evolution ended and he decided to not quit and ended up making it lol

I love this content! Thank you for posting. I know it's for a reason, but why is training when you're in the teams (after BUDS) so dangerous ? Is it to make the missions easier (like how you bleed in the training room so you don't bleed during competition) or is there another reason ? I've always been curious about this, since there's so much money and time invested in each team member.

It beings back memories, I remember doing the obstacle course in the army, I think it was Basic, may have been AIT. It rained the night before, course was muddy, I went all out, I was one of the first people finished, they start asking for the top 10 finishers, I faded into the background. People raising their hands like they will get a prize. Their prize was to run it again to get a winner. That was an obvious set up.
I was in the National Guard, I was going to college, ROTC wanted me, okay no biggie some extra money, some Military Science classes, I drilled with my unit as a SMP cadet. That was funny, I would show up with a cup of coffee, I smoke cigarettes back then, none of the cadre cared, I was never asked to do any of the BS clean up duties. After a while I decide OCS in the Guard made more sense, I get my recommendation letters, think I had to do 2 boards, all good. My unit screwed me. I had a packing list, I could not get anything from supply, nobody would answer my calls, some admin once in a while. They ghosted me before it was a thing.
I remember the first weekend there, none of the guys had been infantry, they seemed oblivious to what was going on. A couple TAC's (think that was what they were called) were walking by us dropped us for push ups for something. I was already being tortured for my uniforms and gear, I said the heck with it. So I start doing the count for 20 push ups. 1, 2, 3 4,. 2 push ups, I say 1. The other guys are looking at me like what is wrong with you? I was sounding off loud, I hear a couple of the TAC's laughing. They give people these fake ranks, so one guy is Captain , one morning they give him an Op order for the day, he is losing his mind, he is like there is no way we can do this, I say let me see that, I say you are right. I suggest you go outside and tell them we will be late for formation. Sometimes being a leader doesn't mean doing what you are told to do, but telling people what you can do.
I didn't mind the push ups and mountain climbers, all of that was a game to me at that point. The unit I was in, I didn't get paid for over a year (prior to me joining ROTC or OCS) in a casual conversation with a blockbuster employee, she knew I was in the guard, made a comment about the paycheck, I laughed and said, they haven't paid me in a year, she says are you serious I say yeah, she says hold on a minute. Her dad was a Sergeant Major that worked at CTARNG HQ, a few days later they send a retention NCO to my house, after greetings, first question he asks is why am I still going to Drill? I said I didn't know not going was an option. I had complained to the unit for a year, admins, my platoon leader, the XO, the CO, nothing. The Adjutant General went to the unit. My paperwork was on an admins desk the entire time. My unit was not happy with me for going outside the Chain of Command, this rolled over to when I was a SMP and went into OCS. It was all punishment by my unit. I wasn't doing this for that huge muta 4-5 payday.
My second drill with OCS, I talked to one of the TAC's they took me to the commandant (think that was what he was called) we talked, I said it is obvious my unit has no intention to support me in this, they have provided me nothing from the packing list, I said I am no longer going to embarrass myself. There I guess it was vastly different than Seal training, they did not want people to quit. He said he could fix that with a phone call, I said I am sure you could, the point is you shouldn't have to. I resigned from OCS, ended up getting an Honorable Discharge.
My group lieutenant, yeah the Engineers were so messed up they didn't know what "Fall in' meant, says to me after I give a referral to someone they never make it through OCS, I say Eric, I called you 50 times, left messages, kept a log by my phone, you never picked up or called back. Screw em. I still never got the back pay. I went through PLDC when I was in ROTC, never got credit for PLDC, I am getting myself angry now

I know there are online options (like Western Governors University) that are more flexible for people who have longer/unfixed work hours and work out of town. Would a degree from a college like that one be held at the same level of consideration when trying to get invited to SOAS the OCS route?

For Navy OCS all I have to do is a 1.5 mile run, plank, and pushups. 😂. But I’m 40. These videos help motivate me though. It’s like having a training partner. I’ve been a competitive power lifter since 17. After my lifting sessions from 12am-3am, I go to my local track in NYC at 3:15am and do my plank, push-ups, and run. Who is in the park at 3:15am? Crackheads. ☠️

Question: so many prep guys out there like you and Stu, then prep in GL after boot camp, right? I would think guys would be more physically prepared now given all the information and programs. Is it the mental element causing DOR? Can’t prepare for that I guess. Wouldn’t know.
