@@IllyrianStrength well, he started to train with olympic lifters from day one. Pretty sure they knew what they are doing 😂 and of course he's taking it more slowly these days, what I wanted to say is, that that he trained his whole career like this and his knees are still fit
This full range of motion actually strengthens your tendons over time. It's definately not for pussies though. It's not for all those who let popular opinion dictate their decisions. Start slow and work up to higher levels. Just like anything else.
Yes, your tendons will be absaloutely fine. But what will suffer is the joint itself, the articular surfaces and the synovial joint lining. This can't really grow stronger in the same way Tendons or muscles can, and how much your joints can take is significantly genetic
also by 'your tendons will be absaloutely fine' they will likely suffer tendionopathy from overuse too but you can strengthen them up quite a bit if you increase gradually
'Not for pussies' lol , Ronnie Coleman , Jay Cutler are probably pussies too for not doing this exercise huh?😂 People like you who try to sound tough are actually the real pussies 🤷
That movement screwed up my knees so bad, along with heel elevated squats. My knees got so bad that I could even bodyweight lunge without feeling intense pain. Im 20 years old haha. Its good now, now I just leg press, box squat, and some of our other squat machines.
Either start slow or you need a knee brace at first, that’s how I did it I used a knee brace for the knee that strained the most and now I can max out pretty easily
Theres a strong science thats growing that states Over The Toe exercises is actually good for the joint and promotes flexibility and strength. Its all being lead by a guy who, ironically, is called the Knees over Toes guy. Well worth checking out his channel
Not even his own idea, its been getting more attention because of him making it a progresive for-everyone program, but yea the concept of adding more angle and range of motion to movement progresively has been proven to actually help making tendons and liganents more resilient

There are people out there that says “we need to learn by the books” even though the book are filled with outdated information and years and decades later we have discovered newer information. So, it’s nothing new. This whole “knees over toes” is nothing new, It’s the fact that we have been taught with OUTDATED information by the “experts” claiming “knees over toes is bad”. The fact that a guy “knees over toes guy” had to remind everyone that knees over toes is actually good for us. We all been lied to. We have to learn how to walk again
This philosophy is approved by Athlean-X, check him out. Did Neandertalers shit with there knees not being over the toes? I don't get it. This specific exercise really is probably unnatrual and not healthy. But regular squats? They are natural!
Guys, this exercise is NOT bad for your knees, but at the same time it isn’t recommended for anyone. This is a type of sissy squat, and it’s one of the greatest exercises you can do to increase your quads. The thing is that you got to have first a good flexibility to be able to do this without getting an injury
Advising someone to not do something because it is bad for your knees and to not do something if you have bad knees are two different statements. If you have a torn rotator cuff, it might be advisable to not do overhead press. That doesn’t mean that people with healthy shoulders shouldn’t do them.
I squat now at home because I'm not comfortable going back to the gym post covid but I always prefer the leg press, it's far safer and all of your effort goes into your legs.
Leonardo Costa yes I don’t recommend this exercise for beginners but it will be great once you feel more confident in your knees. It is a similar pressure to seated leg extensions with the machine.
You see the point where they go onto the toe thats where the knee problem comes in, if you tilt onto your toes and push it takes the stress off the hamstrings and onto the knee ligaments be careful if you do this, it is great but like all great excercises they can be devastating if not performed to the T with form. One mistake and you could have injury for life

Tom is 65 now and he still squats like a king. Doesn't seem to have any kind of knee problems
@@IllyrianStrength well, he started to train with olympic lifters from day one. Pretty sure they knew what they are doing 😂 and of course he's taking it more slowly these days, what I wanted to say is, that that he trained his whole career like this and his knees are still fit
People who think this is bad for your knees can't do ATG squats and wear a belt even while they do bicep curls
@@andrewkavanaugh6951 it is useless to argue with this "look, it worked for this guy and he's fine so fuck your science" people.
also by 'your tendons will be absaloutely fine' they will likely suffer tendionopathy from overuse too but you can strengthen them up quite a bit if you increase gradually
'Not for pussies' lol , Ronnie Coleman , Jay Cutler are probably pussies too for not doing this exercise huh?😂 People like you who try to sound tough are actually the real pussies 🤷
@@andrewkavanaugh6951 yes they can with deca
My knees would explode doing this. Definitely not for everyone, but damn it looks like it works if it's a right excercise for you
They’re competing to see who can break their knees the fastest.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣❤️
😂🤣😂
Bro went from perfect form to thrusting his hips lol
That movement screwed up my knees so bad, along with heel elevated squats. My knees got so bad that I could even bodyweight lunge without feeling intense pain. Im 20 years old haha. Its good now, now I just leg press, box squat, and some of our other squat machines.
That’s because your form is shit lol plain and simple rookie

I can't even do normal squats without making popping sounds.
This can be avoided mate! Just adjust you feet position and kneed angle, and you will be fine.🙂
Either start slow or you need a knee brace at first, that’s how I did it I used a knee brace for the knee that strained the most and now I can max out pretty easily
Knees Over Toes Guy On CZcams is your friend, dude is literally getting me back to the old me with his videos
Same for me, I can do squats but only half the motion otherwise they will make a cracking sound and it hurts after a while.
@@c0wboys4life Thanks man. Salam from Malaysia 👍🏿👍🏻👍🏼👍🏽👍🏾

When I watch him, he mentions about textbooks and how textbooks can become outdated because there will be new discoveries.
They are natural!
full range of motion is great, if it hurts your knees you need to build up to it not shy away
my man's knees be lookin' like rubber when squatting.
"In order to get big legs, you have to squat"
Russian: is this some kind of joke this is gonna be so easy
Platz said he didn’t have any genetics but he has the best leg joint genetics to not get injured.
Man looked like he's gonna break his pants just like his legs
Squatting is very important but I don't like to take too much risk. Safety is important. 👍
Make sure you do light high reps when doing these squats or you’ll not only fuck up your knee caps but your lower back going heavy…
i can feel my kneecaps explode just by looking at this

THESE MAN NEVER SKIPPED LEGS DAY✌
It's called a hack squat because it hacks your legs to the ultimate level. I am definitely incorporating this into my leg routine.
My knees started sweating after watching this
I see nowhere that Tom Platz had a surgery and he’s doing absolutely fine now.
Yup don't Beleive the hype, the man is a legend
Not to mention that he's still squatting till this day! 🤷🏿
@Ethan Rhodes looking at the size of your legs there's evidence that not doing them didn't help either haha 😆

Guys, this exercise is NOT bad for your knees, but at the same time it isn’t recommended for anyone. This is a type of sissy squat, and it’s one of the greatest exercises you can do to increase your quads. The thing is that you got to have first a good flexibility to be able to do this without getting an injury
That movement is so crazy amazing for this workout.
I felt my knees break just watching that. For Tom Platz it evidently worked but for us mere mortals we would be in wheelchairs.
Yep this is definitely bad for your knees, Tom Platz knew that too, he advised people not to do what he did if they didn't have good knees
Advising someone to not do something because it is bad for your knees and to not do something if you have bad knees are two different statements. If you have a torn rotator cuff, it might be advisable to not do overhead press. That doesn’t mean that people with healthy shoulders shouldn’t do them.
Every time when I squat I here a pop in my knee can someone explain please

I squat now at home because I'm not comfortable going back to the gym post covid but I always prefer the leg press, it's far safer and all of your effort goes into your legs.
Same .
You have strong knees. I want to do this exercise too, but I think I have to train legs more, in order to have a strong knee.
One mistake and you could have injury for life
RandomName my knees have remained healthy performing this exercise over the years but your message is correct. It’s always important to know your body and when to say when. Thanks brother 🙏🏾

@aloha tigers , I agree that Knees Over Toes has ton of material showing that this kind of knee bent degree can be beneficial, but he always says that is very important to respect the progression and NEVER skip stages. extremely traumatic movement, the knees wear out very quickly, but if you do it slowly (without sudden movements) and without refusal, then it is tolerable (more suitable for developing flexibility, and not for pumping). And of course without big weights
'In order to really get big legs.... you have to squat'
'In order to achieve your full body potential.... you HAVE to squat'
I recite this everyday during legs
Y’all talking about knee problems. Tell me why Tom Platz can still squat deep, pain free, at 60+ years old. Knees over toes is good with proper progression. Y’all just did it too heavy to fast.
Hey, man, nice video. Be careful, though. This exercise can cause knee damage. There's a reason there are recommendations for athletes to push through their heels instead of their toes during squats and leg presses, and this movement is no exception. I'll check out your other stuff as well. Peace, bro.
Muscle Doggs thanks brother I don’t recommend this exercise for conventional athletes. This movement is bodybuilding and aesthetic leg growth. I currently squat pounds with no knee wraps or belt, so my knees are very healthy. Appreciate ya brother 🤙🏾
