Lol you don't know how the show works do ya? Simon owns ALL the got talent and idol shows around the world he wants to make money he takes ownership of their contracts, previously made videos and thier revenue, he controls what is in the mainstream entertainment and owns them all and gets paid for them and a flautist probably isn't worth much to him.
Iâll probably be hated here, it is a talent show with a purpose. It is not every talent that makes money. And, the idea of the show is that people have a talent that they can make a career of; to have a career is to make money and be able to live out of it. So, it isnât like you are going there and show you talent and thatâs it. They will invest in you and your talent, there is revenue involved. And that is the reality of artist for centuries.
In Portuguese, we call the old days art investors âmecenasâ, I think in English I can use patron. However, âmecenasâ is specific related to a person that gives financial support to another for literature and arts, but letâs put as patron of the arts. Of course now is not exactly the same, it is just that before an artist was part of someoneâs status. So, being a patron and supporting artist was relevant and significant of a person social status. The artist did have to produce specific things that people would like for the patron (it is not every artist that get a patronage, they have to be considered good). There is a very interesting book about Mozart history that talks about that (at least I think was Mozart, I read a few years ago, it was about one of the big composers. The book did discuss the aspects of his patronage).
I understand that you feel bad for the person, I felt too. What Iâm trying to say is that this is not a Simon Cowell thing. If a person wants to live out of art, they have to make money with it or someone has to take care of them financially. Today, if a person will make art they career, they need to think about how to make money out of it. The show is about talent, sure, but talents that can lead to careers.
My problem with the show is that only a few winners were able to make a career of their art. I donât know how much money the show brings to the producers, but I thinks their investment in the winner is very small. The premise of the show is that you will get money and a perform in Vegas, the idea is that the participants will be able to make a career of their talent. So, if Iâm analyzing AGT, the problem is not considering talents that make revenues - that is obvious, we are talking about living out of the art and careers - but lack of real support to the winners careers.
Its a highly produced, aka fake, show anyway. A lot of the acts are already big in their country, already on CZcams, are semi-professionals, ect, and are just on here for publicity. Maybe it's actually good for some people if they win, or get noticed because of the show. But all in all it's a highly produced show with the intent of making money in the end
