  • Former Social Development Minister Bathabile Dlamini was sentenced by the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court on 1 April 2022. This after she was found guilty of perjury in March 2022.

    To steal the way she did and lie the way she did deserves jail time. A poor student got 5 years and she did nothing compared to Dlamini. Who you are matters even if you are absolutely corrupt.

    When its politicians...theres always an option to either go to jail or pay the fine. These options are not applicable when the perpetrator is an ordinary person. Why ? 200k is nothing to a politician ..

    So I guess the tax payers must pay this fine. Why not a fine, and jail time? Can ordinary South Africans be given such ultimatums as well, or this is reserved for political elite?

    Interesting to know that some government officials can steal 10's or 100's of millions of rand , and get of with a couple of hundred thousand rand. To them it's a once of opportunity in a lifetime. How will the ANC government ever recover that money? Those people who commit that crime knows exactly how the justice system works. Why are there cases that take years to reach a verdict , and in the end those people get off with such a light sentence , if not free.

    Shocking and disgusting! The judge should make her serve time and cancel the fine because there might be stolen money statched somewhere to pay her way out.
