Instead of rolling it the whole way fold back the end before finish the rolling. That way the blankets are completely wrapped inside the waterproof (?) pup tent.
So that the end is basically the same as the start? Sounds like a good idea. I have folded them up at the end before I just found it made them a bit harder to roll up neatly. As mine only go out for a small amount of time it never became a problem. I think you are probably right though 😁
As someone who has slept in a bed roll be warned they bulky and you get cold real quick without a fire. Yes mine was a canvas shell with a 100% wool blanket.
@@Truffle1947 the biggest issue I've found is the condensation always works it's way inside but I'm a rough sleeper. A wool blanket in a tent with a canvas floor isnt so bad because the condensation has a hard time getting past walled off shelters.
@@UnknownUnitW10 Yes. I am normally in a pup tent. When I stay out in the open air I tend to jump ship into my little tent in the early hours of the morning when all the damp arrives. I am also a terrible sleeper.
Thanks :D Which one would you like. I can do 101st in Normandie 2nd armoured division in normandy 2nd armoured division later on in the ETO Or 2nd armoured division very late war in Germany
Before the current US Army Back Pack system there was the ALICE system. For that system and the commonly issued Medium back pack I used the Tanker Roll for my shelter half and issued sleeping bag, plus goodies. It fit over and down the sides. Leaving room for MOPP Gear and other required item to fit inside the back pack. Have you, would you do that ?
That is how the bedroll fots to m44 m45 and the ww2 marine core haversack to. And yes to can fit it to the 1928 haversack like that to but it does not have any straps so you have to tie it on with rope. Theres wartime photos of it 😁
I can but not quite yet as I do not have any wool trousers! I only have my M43s. But I will be getting some wool trousers as soon as I can. Hopefully next month!

Yeah on a cold night they can be miserable if you are not careful. I have used a WW2 style bedroll for many bad nights sleep :D

Yes I am afraid they do get some damage if you are not careful.

Thanks :D

This can be a backpack too
You mean by putting all of your stuff inside the bed roll? Or by attaching straps?
Can you do a 2nd Armored Normandy impression video?

Good Video. I DON'T THINK THIS ROLL WILL WORK WITH AN ACTUAL 1944 FIELD PACK!!!!!
No it would not really. You would have to change where you folded it up. You would want it longer and thinner.
