Some great ideas mate I could imagine a half track and ground troops coming across that field to your 30 cal. Position,, perhaps get the mortar set up as well🥺
Looks nice man, hopefully the landowner will be good with your plans
The day time stuff should be totally fine. It is jsut the camping stuff that might be a problem.
Great idea
Thanks. Hopefully it all works out :D
Hello mate. Cool idea 😊
I recon the over night stuff will be more than cool. It is going to be freezing 🥶
Due to take delivery very soon of a '45 MB and so I watched this with great interest! VERY informative indeed! May I ask a couple of questions please? Where did you get the Ma Deuce and the cradle and post? What's the score with the bustle rack? Is it just hung on the back and lashed down? I dunno why but I got the impression they were at least bolted on if not welded. Finally... I'm looking for information on radio rigs as I like the look of the Ohio mounts with a large aerial. Any idea where I might find such info or indeed get a radio for installation?
What country are you in mate? I got my replica 50cal and of a chap called Chris Golding but he has stopped making them. The gun pedestal in the Jeep was in the garage of a cha[stle rack is made by allied forces canvas. It just hangs on is strapped down. Real bustle racks were all made in the field and were many different version. I have seen a photo of one which was just built from a front door of a house a solider had pulled off.
@@Truffle1947 Hi bud! Thanks fr the fast reply. I'm in Portugal. The nearest source for a pedestal, with or without the Ma Deuce, is Jeep Sud Est but oh boy! SILLY expensive. I found a film props bloke in England does the Ma Deuce at a super price but it's another £450 to get it over because the law states it has to be flown plus you have custom clearances to contend with as well. The Jeep Sud Est option therefore wins even though it's so expensive. But I'm not sure the mount is anything like yours as there didn't seem to be much cast component on it. I think it does have the can tray at the side though. Interesting about the bussel! Did your complete Ma Deuce canvas come from the same Allied Forces Canvas?
@@martinjf467 No my 50cal canvas is an original. So is the pedestal and the gun cradle. If that pedestal in England is from who I think it is then don't waste your time :)
Great place, I definitely lean towards the Churchills
They are impressive tanks in person.
Sweet Alpha, I know she has checked out things to make sure you are safe and ready to go. 💜🐰💜
So proud of you my dear friend ❤
Haven’t been for awhile, fantastic museum. Thanks for the video
You are welcome. There is still a couple more to come before the whole museum has been covered :D
You don’t sound American
Because I am not. Enjoy your day. Great comments. Don't bother to leave anymore.
You have know clue on us
I seem to have more of a clue about it than you do about proper English 🤔 If you are going to be miserable and not even remotely constructive at least do it with a proper sentence😌
Ah Plemieux73..... How to make yourself look an idiot in one sentence 1stly I assume you mean 'no' instead of 'know' as they mean two totally different things 2ndly he is actually very knowledgeable on ww2 US
Your not us
None of the people portraying the German soliders are German either 🤔
Really good video, I don't think you need to adjust the go pro, the footage was great, really smooth and clear.
Thanks Tim. Glad you liked it :D
Your jeep is running well hope you enjoyed the show
Thanks. Yes it was a good bit of fun :D Not something you get to do every day :D
I just thought to myself that I hadn't seen an upload for a while, glad your well. As for the smoothness on the gopro? pretty sure you can turn the stabilisation off on them, honestly though and in my opinion it might not have the desired effect that you have in mind. Worth a try though obviously, looking good though so keep going.
@@XploreNorfolk yeah sorry I have been a bit rubbish with getting stuff edited. I think I just need to turn off the horizon lock so you get a bit of pivot during the footage so you get a better sense of the uneven ground 😁
@@Truffle1947 The distinctive ammo box adds to the effect, hehe. Oh and no need to apologise for anything at all, quality over quantity. 👍
Same hot start issue on my 48 though I had been able to reduce the number of hot cranks a bit with different adjustments. But you’re trading one thing for another. All my steel / cast iron old motors do exactly the same … they all have the carb on top of a heat source. Our Jeeps carb is in a ridiculously hot spot … over / directly on the exhaust manifold. I’d imagine they did this to help with icing as it was designed to start in a time when weather didn’t dictate your daily commute. When it was time to go, you go. On my fuel injected airplane, cold starts are a breeze. Hot starts take a lot of skill and finesse. About three to five minutes after shut down you can hear the fuel boiling off and hissing from the stainless fuel lines and injectors that are routed directly over the cylinders. Shut down and restart straight away, no issues. Wait ten to twenty minutes … now you’re in the hot zone when it’s going to blow vapor and balls of fire. You have to clear the vapor from all the lines before it will run. Just a more dramatic version of what’s happening in our little Jeeps. My little 48 runs best when I fill it with 100LL … 100 octane, super high lead content fuel. (Likely not available outside of the states.) Want to see your little beauty smile … belly it up to a tank at your local air field and fill it with a few hundred pints of Avgas. Cheers!
@@KiloLima we are on the same page here. I found it odd that the carter carb dint do it but both solexes I have used do.
Brilliant! Thanks for the video. Hope to go to the victory show soon
@@chrispig7748 I hopefully will get to go down next Friday. If you make it and see me come and say hi 😁
@@chrispig7748 give me a shout to if you see me in the woods
Nice video I will be attending the victory show with my group 82nd 505th RCT . Will you be there?
@@WW2_X2 i am hoping to get down on the Friday. If you see me give me a shout 😁
Ok yeah same im going to be there on Friday until Monday
I have a Willys 1948 Cj2A with a Solex carb which was fitted in America. From cold the jeep starts first time but if it gets up to working temperature it's as you described first turn of the key and it won't start but will on the second turn. Once the jeep is started it runs great with good mpg, I have recently fitted new points, plugs and plug leads and even a new distributor (Joes Motor Pool) so the only thing I can think of is the fuel is vaporising while the jeep is hot and standing. The fuel pipe on these jeeps does run a bit close to the exhaust pipe.
I am convinced that is the problem with these solex carbs! I keep seeing other Jeeps that are the same which have them fitted.
As always mate well done
@@jamesbryant4396 Thanks James. It is a shame that the carb only worked for about a month before I had to send it back 😭
It looks a little like the end of your steering has been cut and welded or is it just the angle
Think thats just an odd angle and the rough hand brushed paint :D
Good job mate you have created a great resource on maintenance really applicable to any old car without a dam computer in it
Thanks James. I am far from a professional but I hope it helps people :)
Love jeeps! Wish I had enough space to have one. One of the greatest vehicles ever made. What’s it like to drive? Clutch/ gearbox etc? I have driven an old Land Rover
@@chrispig7748 They are a lot of fun to drive. You have to just show them respect or you are going to end up in trouble. The gears are not to bad as they are not total crash boxes. As long as they are kept maintained you can have a lot of fun with them.
@@Truffle1947 cheers!
Nicely done.
@@ianpeterson6029 Thanks Ian 😁
great vid
@@prohypeman thanks ☺️ glad you liked it.
conservation hall as name says - need work to bring them up to museum standard ,
@@andrewhodgson9750 a good number of the vehicles now in the hall are already up to standard and were on display. They simply are now in storage in there after the rework of the new display layout.
2:28 it’s perfect in every way ❤
Trust you to say that 😏
Fantastic video. Thanks for the knowledge, I dont have a 44 pack but it works on other packs I have. My dad also left me a lot of Korean War stuff, sort of the same as WW2 and some improvements or evolved stuff. He was a corporal on a hill with 250 of his company when they were attacked by a Chinese division. Around 2am they ran out of ammo and fought with handgrenades, shovels, bayonets, pickaxes and rocks. He says around 5am, British troops showed up to relieve them. Up to that time, my dad thought he was going to die on that hill. In the morning, they counted 3000 dead Chinese, all the way up the hill. Out of 250, they lost about 100 total killed and wounded. He always bought drinks for British soldiers when ever he had a chance after that.
Thank you for sharing his story 🥰 You cannot imagin being in something like that :(
Thanks for this man, I've always wanted to go to this museum, but doubt I ever will, this is the next best thing
Hopefully one day you can get down. Theres a few more walk around videos to come still and next year at some point I will do it again hopefully with beter camera skills :D
If I get into reenactment I’ll use you for a tutorial
@@awesomemydog5569 hopefully it helps. Be sure to do your own research to though just incase I get anything wrong 😁
As usual love to see the different rarer vehicles and a great vid. Also I am looking for new Roughouts, preferably M43’s so I don’t need to keep spending years putting gaiters on. I was wondering if you have any suggestions for suppliers or brands.
@@user-we4nu2mc6b Glad you liked seeing it. The Milltech roughouts are pretty decent. I have had mine for years and done many miles in them. You can get them from epic militaria 😁
Enjoyed the video 👍🏻 I've come into Jeep ownership ( Hotchkiss m201) from the living history camp as it were....the ultimate accessory i guess. Love your vids from that angle. Best wishes...Mike
@@MG-id7hl Thanks Mike. Glad you are enjoying the videos 😁 Congratulations on the Jeep 😊
@@Truffle1947Greetings once again. The jeep has arrived and I absolutely love it. There is one major snag...that being I am a gentleman of 21st century proportions. Not only is the driver seat extremely tight space wise...but the steering wheel presses down on my belly button area where I have had 2 hernia operations. Do you know a range of options for the driver space that would increase space for me and allow me to drive the thing in safety and comfort ? Cheers.....Mike
I don't care what anybody says, I really like Soldier of Fortune (Kay Canvas) products. Their 1st model HBT looks just like the originals. And their other products are as equally impressive.
I recently picked up one of their hbt jackets
For a moment I thought that motorcyclist was going to collide with Truffles. But then relieved to see that he hadn't. 😊❤
Ha. Yes I did wonder what he was doing when he suddenly pulled in :D
What tent is this exactly?
@@thatoneguywithtwothumbs this is a ww2 us small wall tent made by kay canvas. You can buy them from solider of fortune 😀
@@Truffle1947 very nice display thank you. Do you know if one would be able to use this as a hot tent in conjunction with a camp stove?
@@thatoneguywithtwothumbs The little windows at the front and back are actually for that. They a specific stove that they used inside them and a plate went on the "hatch" to protect it. But I certainly would be very careful and you would need to look into it to try and find information about the protective plates..
@@Truffle1947 absolutely thank you for the info I’ll be sure to take caution and educate my self before making a purchase on the tent. It would make a perfect winter hunting tent if so
did they upgrade the engine of the tiger or replaced some parts to make it stronger? I noticed that the tiger 131 ran fast this year. In some videos going at top speed as well
No I am pretty sure it is unchanged ass nothing has been said. I was also surprised by how much they pushed it. Last time I saw it they were jsut crawling :D
7:16 you could have brought it back with you 🥺
@@mrjoba3208 I would of only used it to taunt you.
Did BAR gunners alway wear suspenders?
No. I have seen a fair few pictures of them with either just the belt holding itself or with the haversack fitted which acts as suspenders to. There is also a pretty famous picture of a bar gunner that has a set of custom made suspenders built from the straps of a different bit of gear but cant remember what it was
Well, as for myself, I would like to purchase at least a Company of M-46 Patton Tanks...
Only 1 company?
@@Truffle1947 Yes! Well right then! Combat Engineers, and recovery vehicles
You'd be far better off with Centurions. Best Cold War tank.
@@lyndoncmp5751 Yes I believe you are right, I will get rid of the Patton's, except for one display model.
@@jameskish4044 Wise man 😊
It’s great to see all the tanks that are typically forgotten about because of their better counterparts, nice video.
@@user-we4nu2mc6b the museum has a huge number of vehicles that you just dont get to see anywhere else 😊
awesome collection . thanks.
@@bugs5644 shame it is not my collection 😂
All i would say is dont button the jacket up all the way just leave the top button undone unless its quite cold
Most of the time it is to hot here to even wear the jacket. Either that or so cold you want all the buttons done up and the hood on 🤣
@@Truffle1947 lol I'm n the uk aswell I know what you mean
And all this done with wet and cold hands, in the dark …. this kit was simply dumped in combat!
Yeah it must of been horrible.
I was there as a cadet 2024 i love your setup =)
Really glad you cadets got to come and have a look around so you could see the older gear all set up 😁
That's a really good display, you've obviously put a lot of thought in it, and the result is great!
Thanks Tim. I love that everyone seems to like the display and appreciate the effort it took 😁
Very nice
Thanks buddy 😁
Blonde took her Willys jeep to a mechanic because it was running rough, next day she went back and asked the mechanic is it ok? Mechanic replied just shit in the carburettor, oh, she replied, how often do i have to do that? 😆❤️🇬🇧
Everything looks great sir. Use the radio and the speaker like you had before adds a touch of realism. One feature you might add as the saying goes “the English fought for King, the French fought for glory, and the Americans fought for souvenirs.” You might add some German items, like some of the popular items brought back, helmets, flags, weapons, metals etc… Just some food for thought.
Thanks. Interesting idea. I was to add anything it would be something like german rations.
nice . thanks.
Good job man, nice display!
Thanks mate :) I am glad people are liking it as I put a lot of thought into collecting the stuff.
