OMG, I love the advice I am getting from you. It totally contradicts what I was taught by the two mentors that got me started. I was told more, more, more get as many products listed as fast as you can. I opened my Etsy store in late June and didn't get my first sale until like December 1st and still have only sold 6 items. I will be going back to redo ALL of my listings for quality after listening to you. Thank you so much.

Hey Kate. I am a Social Media Manager and this is just an FYI: Contests and Giveaways that require actions are expressly prohibited by Facebook’s rules. A lot of people don't know it but Facebook does not allow you to require actions on their platform in exchange for entries. This means that you can’t ask for likes or shares or tags on Facebook as a means of entering any contest or giveaway. If Facebook "by chance" catches it they can without notice shut down your page or group and all is gone forever as you are not allowed to start a new page with the name of your business if a page or group is shut down.

This what I see on Etsy Ads, In place of Etsy to attract and help its sellers, it began to destroy them. I sell physical products and I have costs. Selling from an Etsy ad does not cover the expenses.

I just started a second Etsy shop (BDL Digital Designs) to dive into my love for all things forms while also still doing my first Etsy shop (LivingstonLiving) with all things Christmas & crafts. My first shop does okay during holiday seasons but then basically dies out during off months (of course because it’s mostly Christmas items) so I’m trying to find a way to still get sales during off months by offering crafting items that don’t necessarily have to be only Christmas but still keeping my Christmas theme. And I’m hoping my second Etsy shop will do okay to help supplement in income for those off seasons!

I’m about to launch my Etsy in about 2/3 weeks, it’s a Eco friendly hamper/gift box store (BoxedCurationsByIvy) but I am trialing/testing the market with my Shop for the Valentines season and will open with 3 listings. Would you suggest still creating the FB Groups and getting the word out there? I’m nervous that if I do this and my shop isn’t successful, if I decide to stop Etsy I would have put the word out there and it would seem like I’ve just disappeared? Maybe I’m overthinking things 😬
That’s so great! I’d say you should go ahead and do the group for your launch. It will definitely help boost sales in the beginning and then down the road if you decide Etsy isn’t for you, you can always announce that to your group and let them know what you’ve decided. Things are always changing and usually people will be gracious ❤️

The percentage discount should be something very appealing- I would say 40% or more if you can swing it. We did 50% and also a buy one get one free. As far as ads, that’s totally up to you and what your budget allows for. We usually try it out at around $1-3 a day for a while to get a feel for it. Obviously the more you put into it the greater your chance for a return on investment.

One thing you can do if you know the person who won (would only recommend this for family/friends) is have them purchase the item on your shop and then issue a full refund right after. This way they still get it free but gives you another sale on your listing and they can leave a review!

Yw, hard part I'm having now is how to price my items high enough to not loose if i do free shipping but not so high that it over priced. One great place to start is to drive external traffic from social media (Facebook, Instagram), Pinterest, or an email list! You can always also try Etsy ads too.

I just started a 100% natural hemp skincare product company and on every platform available in Nov. I sold 200 products within the first month and now just 2 orders sold in Jan. My problem is gaining new consumers/audience so I've switched from looking for sales to building rapport hoping it pays off. 🙏
The couple of months after the holidays are often very slow for sellers. Way to be flexible! Just continue making efforts to drive external traffic as much as possible and offer new products for upcoming holidays :)
I was actually thinking about going to my local coffee shop (or a walking park), sitting down at a table and do my art (which involves drawing and water color painting). It's not messy because I use water color pencils, a water-dispensing paint brush, and people can walk by and see my work.I used to get positive attention in high school when doing my art, so perhaps people will stop and comment on my picture, and I could tell them that they can buy it on my etsy page (but only if they show a great interest). I should just keep doing that regularly and see what happens.
Can you do a video about handling mean reviews 😬 I only have 6 sales , 2 reviews. One reviewer was nice, left 5 stars. The other one was very mean, said my product was not worth the money & was just straight up rude & left a one star. I actually have my products listed at a discounted rate right now because I was hoping to boost sales so the rude review saying it wasn’t worth the discounted price was very hurtful since I put many hours of work and of course a ton of time thinking up my product idea. Hi Jen! That’s a great idea to cover in a future video. I’m sorry you had to go through that- especially on one of your first reviews! Unfortunately every Etsy seller has to deal with rude comments at some point and develop somewhat of a thick skin. If they have a valid point, it’s good to take criticism and let it help you improve but sometimes it’s not constructive at all and those you just let roll right off.

Yw, hard part I'm having now is how to price my items high enough to not loose if i do free shipping but not so high that it over priced. Also dont know if u have done a video on this already Wondering after your huge monthly sales how much is actually profit? And how do you handle the tax part, that scares me. I would love to do this 2/3 days week instead of my day job but after fees and taxes i feel like there will be nothing left for supporting a family. Thanks again

One great place to start is to drive external traffic from social media (Facebook, Instagram), Pinterest, or an email list! You can always also try Etsy ads too.

I just started a 100% natural hemp skincare product company and on every platform available in Nov. I sold 200 products within the first month and now just 2 orders sold in Jan. My problem is gaining new consumers/audience so I've switched from looking for sales to building rapport hoping it pays off. 🙏
The couple of months after the holidays are often very slow for sellers. Way to be flexible! Just continue making efforts to drive external traffic as much as possible and offer new products for upcoming holidays :)

I was actually thinking about going to my local coffee shop (or a walking park), sitting down at a table and do my art (which involves drawing and water color painting). It's not messy because I use water color pencils, a water-dispensing paint brush, and people can walk by and see my work.I used to get positive attention in high school when doing my art, so perhaps people will stop and comment on my picture, and I could tell them that they can buy it on my etsy page (but only if they show a great interest). I should just keep doing that regularly and see what happens.
Can you do a video about handling mean reviews 😬 I only have 6 sales , 2 reviews. One reviewer was nice, left 5 stars. The other one was very mean, said my product was not worth the money & was just straight up rude & left a one star.
I actually have my products listed at a discounted rate right now because I was hoping to boost sales so the rude review saying it wasn’t worth the discounted price was very hurtful since I put many hours of work and of course a ton of time thinking up my product idea.

Hi Jen! That’s a great idea to cover in a future video. I’m sorry you had to go through that- especially on one of your first reviews! Unfortunately every Etsy seller has to deal with rude comments at some point and develop somewhat of a thick skin. If they have a valid point, it’s good to take criticism and let it help you improve but sometimes it’s not constructive at all and those you just let roll right off.
