I was lucky enough to have played live with her and specifically this song at new year eve 2000 in Milan duomo square. She was alone, not the band, I was part of a big band comping various artist. My guitar was on full overdrive 8th notes power chords, it was freaking cold, she warmed up my heart and gave me the best chills down my spine I can remember.

Ma cosa dici? In Italia nessuno ha mai cagato i matia bazar, giusto un po' di considerazione per qualche bel pezzo, tra cui questo e qualche altro, e niente di più. In Italia si sono sempre pisciati addosso per i cantautori, gli pseudo rockettari per ragazzine e qualche altro fenomeno da marketing. Non hanno mai avuto la capacità di cogliere la musica di qualità, neanche questo pezzo in fondo (che per esempio è più famoso in Germania o in Olanda).
I Matia Bazar sono stati un grande complesso italiano che ha avuto lo sguardo proiettato musicalmente al Mitteleuropa. La cantante Antonella univa qualità vocali e una rara bellezza.

Matia Bazar was a unique band. They achieved mainstream success and yet their music was quite sophisticated. Unfortunately she left the band and they were never able to achieve the same success. Her replacements were good singers, but they lacked her skill.
I think the reason behind the band's antics is that they were in playback. As real musician they didn't like playback all that much.

She was a Freddie Mercury favorite, and that says it all. After she left the band they were never able to find out such a voice. Had other excellent singers, they were a major band in Italy, but not another Antonella.

"Ti Sento" is a masterpiece and Antonella Ruggiero is incredible.
I was 21 when this came out, one of the best songs ever made. In another reaction video that I just saw before this one, someone mentioned the sneaky key change towards the end where the harmonay vocal becomes the lead vocal. Well noted. Followed by the big climax of the song. Throughout the song it's not just her voice, the same passion is in the music as well. Italians in the 80's had their way of getting the best heart-felt music out of their synthesizers and sequencers.
