Nice to see Rob at the top of the leader board as the log might be mid pack at best and he couldn’t move the frame without straps due to the small hands. Thank you Rogue Fitness for the strongman shows and the free live streams. They are much appreciated. However, having said that, I have a beef with the rules of the Arnold's Strongman Show scoring system. I don't think that athletes who fail to complete even one rep, or fail to complete any requirement of the feat of strength that is needed to register any level completion, should get ANY score for that event. This is the way that "World's Strongest Man" keeps score on "no lift" events. To illustrate why and how it's unfair, take a look at today's events. On the max squat, Luke Stoltman came in last and thus only got 1 point. Still, he succeeded in squatting 816 lbs to earn that 1 point. Actually, had he used better tactics, I'm confident that he would have squatted 890-900 lbs successfully, and would have got a couple more points to his score. Anyway, so in the dumbbell press, he successfully pressed three reps and tied for 3rd place. (Btw, Martins did NOT successfully complete his 3rd rep....Odd Haugen was being generous to him. Martins should have had 2 reps scored and came in 4th) The 4 guys who failed to complete even one rep still all got 2.5 points each(the avg. of the bottom 4 slots.) Unfortunately, this causes Bobby to be scored above Luke, when Bobby had no successful dumbbell lifts, and Luke would be above him had they registered zero points. And JF would be just 2 pts above him in score, instead of 4.5. Now say that if Maxime had done two reps, then JF, Tom, Bobby, and Trey each got one rep, THEN it would be FAIR to give them the 2.5 points each. Just the fact that they got to have the exact same amount of points awarded for doing no successful lifts is the self-evident proof of it's inherent unfairness. Anyway, that's my feelings on the matter.

    • @glenanderson6164

      @Mister008Gaming Před 2 lety +4

Looking forward to day 2, I think it will be between Martins and Novikov!

    This was a perfect day one for Kearney, but the day one events were near perfect for him, aside from a yoke for speed for the dumbbell. The Timber Carry and Stone To Shoulder will prove consistency across the board.
    Hopefully JF's shoulder can hold up for day 2. He'll need them for two more events, the Log and STS. Sucks when he's on form to at least get high podium, he gets a minor problem.
    Novikov will be consistently good for the last 3 events. Martins as well. Something's wrong with Trey, both good events for him and he nearly bottoms out both of them. Stoltman's are both doing worse than I thought. I don't think either will scratch podium. Maxime being the quiet middle ground as usual. I think even with Kearney's day one performance, it's Martins's to lose. I think it'll be between Novikov and Martins because both are gonna do about the same for the last 3 events.

    A bit of perspective. At 275lbs the average gym bro can't squat, bench, or deadlift that weight and these guys just toss it around like it's nothing.

    • @levimiller5007
      @levimiller5007 Před 2 lety

      I wouldn't say they're effortlessly tossing around 275lbs...
      You can clearly see them struggling to push press that weight for even a few reps, and they're only able to do so because of their sheer size.
      It's an extremely heavy weight to lift overhead with one arm as well as very dangerous.

    • @sankalpabanerjee6218
      @sankalpabanerjee6218 Před 2 lety

      275 isn't that huge to deadlift, or squat even. Lifting it with a single arm is utterly ridiculous though, from a normal human's perspective.

  • @edwardchester1

    Everyone expecting Martins and Tom to be battling for the title but solid performance from novikov and he's also good at the day 2 events. Can see Kearney maintaining a solid position too. Don't see the Stoltman's dragging themselves out the bottom half - such a bad show from Luke with the squat. Shame for JF. Hard to tell if it was bad form that caused the shoulder injury there or if it was an existing issue - looked like bad form and something went.

  • @Pile_of_carbon

    Too bad about Caron's shoulder. Would've been fun to see a few reps from him too. Also, BLOODY HELL Kerney is on a roll.

    Tom needs to up his static strength .carrying weight in medleys and stones hes as good as it gets ,maybe the best ever but he lacks the sturdy thickness of a prime Big Z or Eddie for the max stuff ,i know hes 100lbs heavier than when he started and to say this about a 380lb man is crazy but he still looks a little flimsy and delicate 😂😂 and Rob is legit super impressive and considering his size and frame even more so

    • @a-a-rondavis9438
      @a-a-rondavis9438 Před 2 lety +1

      His deadlift and log are still improving, it's just that many Strongmen don't focus so much on heavy squats, and it hinders the taller guys moreso. Tom's just not gonna be a great squatter. For example, Evan Singleton doesn't like squats, and thus isn't as good as he could be.

    Shocked about Boudreault.. Overhead press is typically one of his greatest events.. The quality of Arnold's suffered in this one without Thor, Shaw, zydrunas, and now injured Mateuz and Caron..
