    Great video! Thank you so much for taking the time to show the steps (and hints) on how to fix our window problem. We were fortunate that the window motor was not the issue, but that the bolt holding the widow on one side had backed out of the threads. Your detailed video on how to get to the point where we could even see the inside layout of how the window worked was an awesome lesson. Your suggestion at the beginning about the plastic pry tools made a huge difference and well worth the price (under $15)!!!!!

    Just completed this repair within a couple of hours. one thing that might help others is after testing the new motor and before installing (9:30 min marker), put the motor in the bottom-most position before installing so that the bracket is accessible to attach to the door (seen at 10:08 marker). Thanks again for this video!

    Thank you so much for showing me how to dismantle my door!
    it turns out my master power window switch was bad... the nylon plastic in the switch caps wears out. if you take the master switch out, and delicately pop off the toggle cap (because there's a tiny plastic stem with a spring under it you don't want to lose) then there will be four little white stems you can push with a pen to work the window until you get a new switch.
    I had to buy a used one for $109. you cannot get a knock-off For a 2006!

    16:29 how should I get my window down if the motor is completely dead? Is there a way to push the glass down?

    • @hopfammedia
      @hopfammedia  Před 3 lety +3

      Hi Kevin, good question! We didn't have an answer for you offhand, so I did some research here on CZcams. While I couldn't find another tutorial specifically for a Highlander, I may have a video with a solution! Here is the link: czcams.com/video/-VN-fKaWqb4/video.html The channel is called Ozzstar's Cars, and he works on a Nissan in the video. He suggests not attempting to lower the window at all, and instead taping the window to the door while replacing the motor. This process starts at 5:42. Hope this helps, and good luck with your repair!

    • @thejool
      @thejool Před 3 lety +4

      There is also a key function that allows window to be rolled down and up with the key in the door. I thought my motor was dead too. It wasn’t. It was my main control panel that died (assuming from water damage or something else I sprayed in it to clean it that got into the electronics and destroyed it-ugh)
      Got a new controller for 75. 00 (785.00 from Toyota and 633. From autozone) from a junkyard.
      Problem fixed!
      You can check and see if your vehicle has this door key feature to determine if it’s truly the motor or not. Just put in your key into door lock, turn to unlock it, but hold turned, and the window will begin going down after 2 seconds or so. And also works vice versa. You can lock door with key, and bold and window will begin to go up after 2 secs.
      I popped the new (used) controller in while at the junkyard, and boom, all windows go up and down perfectly now. No motor replacement was needed.
      Hope this helps someone with the insanity of diagnosis of non functioning windows.
      My next quest is to figure out why 3 doors won’t unlock and lock with controller nor the key! Heading to the fuse box soon! Wish me luck!

    Uh oh, at 13:38s, the wires is hanging on the sharp edge of the round hole, they will be cut, or shorted as time go on. The grommet, or rubber part of the motor unit or of the door, should be at the sharp edge as you can see clearly at 8:55s is pushing in. P/s: Hope you'd never get cut while doing car repair, or just taking video of the jobs mostly doing by males.
