      You know what? After waging pros and cons I've ordered one through your referral link - enjoy whatever percentile of sales you're getting in that partner program. Who knows maybe I will actually like it ;)
      Btw. I've found out how to change battery, they use generic battery pack available all over Chinese websites - worst case scenario you can ever cobble together your own battery pack and reuse the controller. It's a bit disappointing however there isn't easily removable battery as there IS plenty of space inside to add casing. Battery pack is literally held in place by thick pieces of foam to not rattle around.

    Some thing worth testing is the ability to wheel it around after its folded, many folders can be pulled around by their seat or handle bars because otherwise they are very awkward to move..

  • @exodiatheforbiddenone4871

    Thank you so much for the review. Was a bit hesitant about buying this because it's cheap and claimed to do 80km, whereas lots of ebikes in that price range only do "up to 20km". Great to know that it has at least 60km in it which is way more than enough for my 16km daily commute with some steep hills 👍👍

    Hi, nice review as always. I'm buying one this week but worrying about changing rear tyre. Does the D4s have a connector near the back wheel like most ebikes or have they cheaped out and not put one. Meaning you have to pull the cable through the rear axel nut all the way from the controller?

  • @shifty277
    @shifty277 Před 3 lety +7

    Really enjoyed this review and the presentation.
    Thank you for not being afraid to venture into the budget e-bike category out of your bread and butter of phones, tablets and laptops etc.
    - This would be ideal if they had hydraulic brakes. I have had mechanical disc brakes in both the shimano and tektro guise and they are fantastic at stopping don't get me wrong as its still brake pad on steel disc but it's not fun day in day out.
    - Re-gen is not the end of the world imo, the removable battery too isn't as it can be folded nicely and brought into said home/apartment.
    - I wonder if the r&d needs too much effort with the routing of hydraulic brake cable routing relative to the route of the mechanical brake cable through the frame to not kink horribly when in the folded state.
    Not a knock on your review as it is fantastic, only that this style of bike and price category in my opinion should be another say £100/$100 with a good hydraulic system behind it before I whack my credit card details in.
    Thanks for the effort you put in to your channel, I always thumbs up and comment when I watch as I know that helps pump the youtube algorithms.

      Thank you for the feedback and comments. I'm looking to swap to the hybrid hydraulic pistons via cable upgrade that some have recommended here. Front shock would be great since my local roads are terrible. I've been riding to and front my house to town with this bike.and it been great. I think only with those two additions I would be happy to pay a little more for it.

    One question though, what sort of speeds can be achieved on the flat by pedal power alone. If you have the number of teeth on the crank set and cassette then I can work out the theoretical speeds for cadence.

    I brought the Fiido D2 wheels at 16 inches with rear suspension which makes riding over bumpy ground with out a lot of vibrations, giving less punctures, strain on wheel forks and components. The weight is 19.5 kg = nearly 43 lbs which is too heavy unlike other folding bikes like Brompton which some people say its a heavy bike at around 28 lbs! I really peddle and just use electric power on mid throttle to have the bike do all the work and enjoy the ride taking me around 4 miles (6.4 kilometres) to and 4 miles (6.4 kilometres) back before the battery runs out.

    My improvement on the Fildo (D2) wound be to make it a lot lighter, fold down a lot smaller so you can take it on a bus, coach, car, train, office and air plane by putting it in your hand luggage compartment like a Brompton bike and travel a lot further just on electric power and faster just on foot power since its 52T chain crank moves you along at snail pace

    Achieved by using the Brompton vertical folding mechanism which patency has now expired to fold it up very small, the battery placed in a removable (long down) bag on the bikes front handle bars where you could store up to 4 extra batteries to travel much further and more foot power bike speed by using bigger chain cranks from 52T to 58T . The reason I brought this bike and my 1st electronic folding bike was its competitive budget price around £500 to £600, variations in models eg 3 gears or 6 gears , quality construction, looks and CZcams recommended reviews but because of the improvements needed you can see why many people buy the over price Brompton's due to folding down size, weight and speed.

    I bought the d2s for 482 euros. Has rear suspension smaller wheels and battery 2kg heavier. The reason why these bikes don't have regen is because they are geared motors. Direct motors have regen. This is also why there is a weight limit on these for the gears inside the motor. A lot of users change the front chain ring to 58t and change to cheap 30 euro mechanical-hydraulic hybrid caliper for better breaking power and less need to adjust the alignment of the break piston.

    The handle folds inbetween the tires which is unusual. The handles should fold outside the tires to make the fold tight. This design makes rolling the bike with the seat in hand probably awkward as the tires are not going to be parallel.

    I’ve bought this bike recently. I only tried it indoors. My question is when I start pedaling on level 1, after a while el. engine launches and accelerates the bike. However when I stop pedaling the engine keeps accelerating (without using a throttle). In order to quit engine support I have to press the break. Is that normal that after stopping paddling the engine keeps on going?

    Yoo great review I got the bike a few days it's a cool product. BTW I can read in the user manual that frequent braking is bad for the battery: perhaps someone here knows why? and what is the best way to use the brakes without damaging the battery.

    • @accelized3599
      @accelized3599 Před 2 lety +1

      I think I figured out why, for those wondering: when you start pedaling there is some lag before the motor kicks-in to give you that boost, if you brake frequently the controller may engage the motor at the exact moment you press that brake causing the motor to run against the force of the brake and consuming too much energy.

Like, if you can do 80km on 25% assist with 20kg bike, you shouldn't have any issue doing 80km on 10kg bike with no assist. How far does it go on 75% assist?
